Joe Rogan's Podcast |OT|

DragoonKain

Neighbours from Hell

This article says Spotify staffers aren't happy with Rogan on the platform and trying to get his content removed in company meetings.

It confirms that the missing episodes were in fact "content moderation decisions" to not have them on.

The article slanders Rogan and one of his guests Abigail Shrier.

I feel bad for joe. The left hates him for having conservative guests and having been doing everything they possibly can to slander/cancel him, and now the conservatives hate him for selling out to spotify and censoring his guest line up (no more proud boys and conspiracy theorists). Meanwhile in reality, both sides are painfully fucking retarded.

I have to say I'm extremely surprised Rogan didn't cover his bases and had a clause written in the contract to preclude "content moderation decisions". Or maybe he did and it only applies to future content.

Either way, let's hope his lawyers thought this through.

The test, of course, will be if and when he hosts another episode with a guest who voices so-deemed "transphobic" opinions. Then we'll get to see where he really stands.

He already did today lol. Douglas Murray referred to non-binary as "look at me!" people and then Rogan followed up saying the whole non-binary thing is crazy(I'm paraphrasing).

Cancelling / de-platforming is the modern day digital equivalent of book burning. The more they try to censor it, the more drawn to it people will be.

I have never heard of Douglas Murray but this is a great episode.

Douglas Murray is great. He's done a ton of interviews, and the two books of his I have read (The Strange Death of Europe, and The Madness of Crowds) were excellent. The Madness of Crowds in particular really does outline the craziness behind our current political climate and was a timely warning to the insanity we're seeing play out in 2020.

Wow Douglas Murray episode was the best JRE in a long time. Douglas would make a good addition to the IDW if they ever make a return (maybe when Jordan Peterson is ready to join the fold again).

EDIT: just learned Sam Harris and Eric Weinstein are his friends.

Didn’t know who this guy was before but he spoke directly, bluntly, and intelligently. Really inspiring stuff. Especially in regards to speaking up. Being truthful. Great episode

I like Lex but I wasn’t feeling that episode. I was getting frustrated with him, like Joe, about reading all those comments and letting it affect him. And all the work out stuff, it was weird.

You would have to believe there's a lawsuit incoming with this happening right? I mean I don't think Rogan would be dumb enough to not outline creative freedom with his content and how it's distributed?

He's got lawyer's who look at this stuff for him. You don't make a 100 Million dollar deal without going over everything with a fine toothed comb.

Didn't Spotify know what they were getting into? They didn't pay 100 mil to hire a guy who's very safe and straying from controversial topics in his interviews. Quite the opposite. It's a lose-lose scenario for them if they heavily censor Joe or decide to part ways and lose money.

This is a silly conspiracy angle i just thought of but lets say the deep state acquired him through spotify so that they can control and censor him for only a $100 mil write off.

Of course he would have.
It's possible, but Joe's MO has always been to address these things on his next podcasts and not via written statement. That's how he's always handled it before, he'll bring it up on his next episode.

I can't ever remember him doing it in this format before, I'm just wondering if Spotify called him and told him to do it this way.

he probably feels an obligation and responsibility to get ahead of arguments, probable divergence

damned if do or don't in most cases, but i respect players who stay involved

JFC... What did Spotify expect? I think they'll wind up bowing out of the agreement to appease their staff. Hopefully Joe keeps significant portion of the payout (or all).

I can't imagine having to wrestle someone I've hired into doing their jobs and not taking from me the deal I've paid for.
