'John Wick 3' Brings Back Writer Derek Kolstad

I just watched John Wick 1 again tonight so my roommate's girlfriend could see it for the first time! So this is especially relevant and exciting news for me this evening.

Man, we need a John Wick game with Arkham-esque mixed melee/ranged combat and a generous budget STAT.

I hope Carrie Ann moss is in it. I also hope they do a lot of fresh things with the action because it got a tad bit stale at the end of 2. I want to see wick fight guys with body armor and helmets. I think it would be cool to see him in a shoot out with him and his dog fighting together. I think there is so much they can do in 3 but in my head I want them to bring in chow yun fat the goat gun action star to take wick on.

If you love john wick go back and watch hard boiled

I original thought that as well, but then
I wondered how many of those people around him were also assassins just trying to play it cool.

So upon rewatching John Wick Chapter 2 it's implied that John visited Aurelio after the first movie, since the car John was driving at the start was the one in his shop in the first movie.

Saw Hard Boiled for the first time a few months ago, and their kinds of action are not that comparable besides having guns and being well shot. Every set piece in Hard Boiled is like a small war, the bullets hit like mini artillery, and it's just glorious chaos especially with the extreme environmental destruction.

Very different from John Wick's surgical precision, constant reloads, and close quarters

And yeah, I'm hoping for a full Matrix reunion. Hugo Weaving as a High Table member, and Moss as his fearsome assassin bodyguard. A Neo vs Trinity fight

Rad, I'm always up for more Wick. Just maybe don't play up the gun porn quite so much this time, okay? That sommelier scene in 2 was a little too much like an advertisement for my taste.

Really liked the first one. Second was kind of a letdown. Like they attempted the pace of the first one while still trying to put a story in between and failed horribly.

Ill say it.
Wanted>>>john wick 2

I hope this means the 3rd film will be tighter with less bloat, but considering the setup for 3 in Chapter 2's finale I doubt going smaller is in the game plan.

There was bloat in 2?

I think some of the gun fights were longer than they needed to be. Bloat might not be the right word, but the pacing and structure of Chapter 2 felt plodding. Also, part of what made the first movie such a hit was the choreography of the action and how fresh it was to see an expert marksman mow down dozens of people so efficiently without leaving himself open to injury. In chapter 2, not only is seeing Wick do his thing less interesting by virtue of more sometimes being less, Wick is hit by cars like 3 times, and there are numerous occasions where it really feels as if he only survives an encounter because the bad guys have incredibly shitty aim.

I can agree with this. The cave scene was one of them that went just a tad long.

On the bright side, Chapter 2 I think is still good and manages to be good despite being larger in scope. Not many sequels manage to do that. I just hope Chapter 3 has smaller, smarter action scenes rather than going for quantity and length like Chapter 2 did.

Can we also talk about Common's awful fight scenes. It was like it was his first time doing fight choreography and the director was determined to not correct him on his terrible timing and awkward movements.

Double down on the gun porn please. Plus it absolutely was an advertisement, the Sommelier was trying to sell Wick on each gun, especially since he was selling him new guns he'd never used before.

I can't wait for this. Hopefully some of it is set in Asia, I think that'd be cool.

Chapter 2 was easily better than the first for me. All of it was memorable. In the first John Wick, the climax of the film came very early on, which was the club scene. The rest of the movie never lived up to that moment.
Killing Viggo's son, and then the pretty bad fight scene between Viggo and John Wick at the end, for example.

Plus that art exhibition scene in Chapter 2 was incredible.

I never said there similar lol I just gave a recommendation for another bad ass movie featuring amazing gun action. chow yun fat with two guns vs wick would be amazing to me. Hugo weaving would be awesome I didn't think about him. But I disagree Moss should not be anyone's bodyguard she should be a boss at the table. Shit what if everyone at that table was from the original matrix.

Really but no comment about keanu reeves robotic ass fighting style and wide punches. The fight worked to me because it was just two dudes trying to beat the shit out of each other. Being technical or fluid wasn't a part of it kinda like a call back to they live. I like Reeves but his fighting style looked really funny in man of tai chi when he was so slow and awkward compared to the other guy he fought at the end.

i like how other assassins can disrupt Keanu's god aim

Yeah, like in the catacombs scene. He was very determined to get out of there as quickly as possible, unlike in the first movie where he was usually 100% in control.

I'm glad there are assassins who at least have a chance against him. I'm hoping that in Chapter 3 there's someone on an equal or at least near equal level.

Well Cassian was certainly up there. If he was any better there wouldn't be any more sequels.

Hey, question. What was Stormare and Keanu talking about in the opening scene? Why did he mostly incapacitate vs kill the Russians at the chop shop?

He only really had a good chance after the catacombs scene. Even then, John was wounded.
Cassian was a better fighter than gun user. He didn't seem to be very highly renowned, although John knew he would be trouble as soon as he met him.

I just want the stakes to be higher in the third movie. We haven't really seen the full scope of the assassin world yet.

Alright, I forgot point break. So, 5. To anyone that says Constantine... no... no....
We're talking a 20 year span. He's good, definitely, but not one of the top ones.
I'd put Statham, ahhhhnald and Stallone above him still.

Point Break. Speed. Matrix Trilogy. John Wick.

Dude is easily above Statham in terms of classic action films. And throw in Chain Reaction as so bad it's great.
