July 2014 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes August 12th

What is NPD?: NPD is one of the main retail tracking firms in the U.S., and also about the only one who specifically goes into detail on video games sales. This thread is to predict what the NPD hardware sales will be for the most recent month. NPD months are defined here, from jvm.
What do I win?: Bragging rights. We also keep track of predictions over the year and have an annual contest using "points." Still just bragging rights, but Sales-Agers have fun seeing how well we can do with it. See here for details on the point calculations.

Prediction entries must be in and finalized by 8 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 12th. Format use is required if you want your entry counted. Extending the deadline to 8 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, August 13th since NeoGAF was down most of Tuesday, August 12..

NPD Coverage: July 6-August 2, 2014 (4 weeks, June was 5 weeks)
NPD Release: Thursday, August 14th @ 4 p.m. EDT (thread posted ~6:30 p.m. EDT)

I'm lowballing it currently based on the idea that I honestly haven't seen many 3DS commercials last month. Tomogatchi (sp?) Life was on TV like crazy during June, but nothing during July and I'm thinking the decline of handheld may be happening at a more rapid pace.

Chances are I'll increase it before the submissions end. I have to mull it over a bit and think about what I've seen.

Ps4 was averaging around 51k the last two months
Xbox One was averaging around 33k May/June
Wii U may still be riding the MK8 wave

If you want your predictions counted towards points/rankings you have to predict for all consoles, or rather any console you don't predict for, donny will assume your prediction is 0 units sold.

IE make some prediction for 3DS if you want to compete for points/rankings :)

Best Buy observations July:


Ps4 remained consistent, as it seems it will stay. It's kind of interesting seeing that we've gotten more Destiny bundle preorders, but the system hasn't really lost any steam.

XB1 is not setting the world on fire, but at least the districts I checked it's still selling, even if it's not really great numbers. We're getting fewer shipments that last longer. Most of my stores are still working off their first shipments of the kinectless bundle.

WiiU is hard to gauge... it feels like it is doing better in some stores, but it's not a universal upswell.

Vita remains mostly impossible to get solid stock... but it sells out as soon as it arrives! I asked our Sony rep, and he was noncommittal about a straight answer, as though even he's not sure.

Everything will be 15-20% lower, X factors could be that MK8 can keep Wii U from dropping that much. TLOU wont have much effect, next month it will, however significant.

Will come back with some numbers
