Kotaku asks publishers if their Q1/Q2 games are coming to Wii U, shares responses

Their answers are here.

Note: Since people are confused, this is about multiplatform games. Inherently Wii U exclusives are coming to the Wii U, so Kotaku wouldn't need to ask.

Since copy pasting the answers would basically be taking the whole article, I'll just list the games they asked about.

The titles they ask about are:

Aliens: Colonial Marines
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
BioShock Infinite
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2
Crysis 3
Dead Island Riptide
Dead Space 3
DmC
Fuse
Grand Theft Auto V
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metro Last Light
Remember Me
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Tomb Raider

Feel free to debate interpretation of any nebulous answers. You can of course quote any answers you want into this thread.

With the quality of the current ports, I'm not sure this is a horrible thing.

Also, Wii all over again. Nintendo teams up with their next console as the third-party relationships appear to be beyond fixing.

Guys don't worry, EA is committed to the Wii U I am sure BF4 will have exclusive DLC offerings on the Wii U.

It sure didn't take developers long to abandon the platform.

If I was a developer, I'd take a wait-and-see approach as well.

It's the only logical way to approach this kind of thing. Why invest the money in a port if it's not going to pay off?

Why ask about Aliens and Injustice? We know they're coming!

Half weren't clear answers, and besides, would they even say yes if it wasn't announced?

Better question is, are they making anything at the moment? I hope Insomniac is cooking up something.

While I don't think most of the stuff not announced is coming, no plans doesn't mean a thing. Remember Warren Spector saying Epic Mickey 2 wasn't coming to Wii U because they got a dev kit too late? If they are actually in development and haven't been announced yet these people couldn't say yes or no if EA,Ubi,etc. didn't want them too.

Out of all those games, Injustice and Aliens are the only ones confirmed to be coming to Wii U, while Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell are rumoured.

I'm sure they're wondering whether or not it's financially viable to work on learning and rewriting your tools to fit a platform that you plan on abandoning development for in a few months anyway (or sooner, if they're already deep on newer PS4/720 tech).

Bahahaha Holy Fuck!

Reality is a bitch.

Edit: Monster Hunter and Ray man will suffice in any event, but some of those games I would have passedon the PC version for the OTP factor

(actually, I have no idea how profitable or not hiring a company to port a product is)

The Wii is next gen....why would people want last gen games on it? Is it really shocking though? Many of those games have been in development for years specifically for PS3 and 360. I would imagine it would take a lot more work, time and money that would not pay off porting them also to the Wii U. I think when the next round of games go into development we will see day one releases also on the Wii U.

Not sure if serious.

EA seems to have had quite the falling out with Nintendo. First that ME3-only port against the Trilogy, and now nothing. Can't believe Riccitiello even took the stage in E3 2011. Something had to have happened after that.

So basically just that shitty looking Aliens game and Injustice. Who said Wii U would suck for third party games?!?!

I never bought Nintendo hardware for its 3rd party support. I love Zelda an Metroid. When I see games of either franchise on a system, I buy it. Those franchises are system sellers to me. And whatever Monolith does.

Come on, third parties. What are ya doin.

edit: Now that I think about it, most if not all of these games were already deep in development by the time Wii U launched or was even announced. I think we'll see third party games coming to the Wii U once some time has passed and developers start making games that haven't been in development up to now.

Lack of 3rd party support sucks and it's going to harm WiiU, no other way around it.

But - well, we've owned a PS3 and/or 360 for a while now, I personally see no loss for me. Whenever I decide to buy a WiiU it won't be because of stuff I can already play on my PS3 or PC. Stuff like The Wonderful 101 will make me buy a WiiU, so I think the lack of original content is way worse than the lack of ports.

There's something really interesting in that post.
This opinion here purely represents what's wrong with this industry and how wrong marketers and publishers can be:

Korekado said:
"We really developed the game based on these two consoles [PS3, 360] and the Wii U, we think, is unique in a way that the controller is innovative and the entire console's pretty much not hand-in-hand with the consoles that we're making it for now. So if we were going to make it for the Wii U we'd have to start from zero again and really design something for that console, so we could say 100% that it was a good game for this console."

This is really beyond ridiculous. Videogames are videogames and thinking you know your maket too much will actually make you lose important sales and installed base. It should be about getting the game out of as many platforms as possible, fuck the whatever particularity some hardware is having, wtf.

It has to be that Origin rumor.

It'll be interesting to see which receives more 3rd party support between the Vita and the Wii-U.

What's the difference between "none" and "none?"
