It's not the predictable woke agenda & all its bullshit which makes me personally vomit here, nope, it's what lies underneath, i.e. the author of this Kotaku article signalling their superior virtue like a pious monk attempting to prove he's the most godly & bestest-best person ever. That's the sick part. How the fuck is a Kotaku journalist qualified to lecture & moralize us? Fuck off.

They believe they are each gurus of the enlightenment known as “progressivism”. They believe that we illiterate whelps (savages, if you will) are only disagreeing with them because we are not knowledgable on the holy word of political correctness. If only we deaf and dumb savages were informed of the gospel and enlightened, we would agree whole-heartedly with their cause.

Ideologues like this, who feel the need to to push their beliefs upon others, were not always a part of this hobby. In fact we used to unify in mocking the bible-thumping soccer moms who proclaimed Pokémon was the devil and that Mortal Kombat would inspire mass murders. But now here we are, with similar ideologues co-opting this hobby and preaching a different kind of gospel, one whose rules and limits are even more arbitrary. Any word that has ever been used to insult someone is permanently taboo. Valuing historical accuracy is bigotry. Playing games made by wrongthinkers is prejudice. Facts are violence. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

Is anyone else feel tired of coastal liberal-arts majors telling us how to think and feel?

Because I’m getting pretty fucking sick of it.

Yep.

I wanna add: the author begins the argument with several positive -- but ultimately vapid -- statements about the game before transitioning into his illogical rant. I get the impression he did this purposefully to hedge bets and retreat to "but I said that I thought the game was fun" as a deflection for criticism.

You know how some fast food places have these alarms on a timer letting workers know they have to disinfect their hands?
I think Kotaku has something similar except it's about finding something "offensive" or "problematic". So they are just doing their usual job posting gaming news and analyzing digital harry potter porn, when the alarm sounds and it's like "damn uhhh...mmmm journey to the savage planet is offensive because....mmmm...oh I guess because "savage"!!!".

I wouldn’t be surprised if these beta bitches also find “macho” offensive.

they really are “cucktaku” and as played out as I think usage of cuck is to shit on pussy men ... I totally approve when it comes this trash rag.

I’m happy that youtubers are taking over the review industry... and you can see why. Talentless hacks that are incapable of properly covering games.

Lol so you cant use 'savage' anymore because people hundreds of years ago used to call indigenous people 'savages'?, jesus wept.
In fairness, it's not just hundreds of years ago. Didn't Anthony Cumia get fired for calling black people savages or something? It does have a racist application.

That said, Kotaku is being absurd here.

Remember how Cuphead is racist because it uses a visual style that some cartoons ninety years ago also used and in those cartoons they drew black people to look stupid?

That word is still being used in the same context on occasion.
Yes, it is. But the fact that some people use it sometimes in wrong occasions doesn't suddenly change the original meaning or context of the word. This is a fallacy. It's not the word that's at fault here, it's those people using it.

Also, it's really not my fucking problem. Sorry.

Black people are:
Stupid
Violent
Scum
Smelly
Retards
Savages

Pick one, they all have racist applications. All words can be used by racists to to try and demean others.

It is weird that we as men use that word as a negative, when it's one of the things that we want and like the most in life :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Serious answer to obvious joke post:

They're homonyms, two different words with different etymologies. One is short for pusillanimous, meaning cowardly, and the other is named after a cat. A lot of people think calling someone a pussy is misogynist because it's pejorative to a woman's anaotmy, but that isn't to origin at all.

Machismo and Savage are off the table. Being Randy is too, given their testosterone levels.

Poor Mr. Poffo...everything about him was problematic.

Welcome to current_year...

You know what really sucks about that?
If they had just left out the whole 'problematic'part, it would have been average advice that no one would have blinked twice about.
It would just be dictionary nerds trying to teach you how to use words you may be using incorrectly, just doing their job.

I also find pretty interesting, how these woke people knew, how certain words, can be used as a racial degradation.. I never knew that "savage" could be racist-ly meant, I just kind of imagine people from Fury Road behind that word : D I guess, I am just a Europoor...

Remember, it's usually the racists always finding racism in everything.

your mind
This seems desperate.
Weren't they in big trouble a few months ago?
I also thought a lot of their writing staff got fired for this very thing.

They must be in trouble to stoop so low
They’ve been doing this shit for almost a decade now. I stopped reading them because of it and that was so many years ago, I can’t even remember when that was.

Haven’t clicked on a single Kotaku link since.

You know what words are super bad? Socialist. Communist. Wealth redistribution. Those words represent somewhere north of 60 million dying in some of the worst possible ways in some of the worst possible conditions. British colonialists were awful, but communists and socialists make them look like Mr Rogers by comparison.

From this point on no one should use those words except in the context of how bad they really are for minorities, the oppressed, and the world population in general.

Remember when journos got pissy that Horizon Zero Dawn used the words "brave" and "savage" in the dialogue? At least Horizon resembles indigenous culture so the complaints came from somewhere but the title of the game that takes place in a fictional planet with no indigenous people is not something I would nitpick over. Ah, well, to each his own.
Yea I remember that incident but I think it was just this one person.

I wonder what would happen if Social Justice Warriors read the Declaration of Independence?
