On the bright side, with Conan no longer doing Late Night or the Tonight Show, I can now watch both Letterman and Ferguson every night.

I can go back to not caring about Late Night and going to bed at 10PM. *old man*

Ugh... Joan Rivers is horrible...

I don't think her plastic surgery could possibly look worse. It looks so unnatural.

Over to Craig I go.

I recorded this episode (along with a bunch of other ones) in 94 and probably watched it like 200 times. I don't know what happened to the tape (it's probably shot to hell.)

Letterman + Richard Simmons = GOLD!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMLb96LssjU
"GOAL! It's good!"
"Did he call me soldier!?"
"Please as long as I'm alive, never do that again"

Letterman and Conan....that's how it should have been. I think I watched Leno maybe 10 times the entire time he hosted the Tonight Show....and I watched Letterman and Conan nearly every night.

Seriously =/

This is definitely confirmed then?

I think it's just what's expected since he had planned to take a break after next week anyway and this. I think NBC probably wants him off asap at this point just so he can't bash them on a nightly basis. Fing sucks.

That link is old.

We got the confirmation already, a few pages back.

Two separate confirmations, actually.

If they cut Conan before 5 episodes I will literally never watch NBC ever again.
They're already fucking him over something fierce but that would be some coldhearted low life piece of shit kind of shit you feel me bloods?

So, if I'm understanding these early reports right, Conan *will* be able to host a show on a competing network right away if things fall into place?

edit- nevermind, thanks for that link. I'm just glad there's hope we might see him somewhere else within the year or so.

Just catching up on tonights events. Holy SHIT at Leno's burn on Dave. It was awesome :lol Really pissed me off though at the start of the show when the audience was shouting "JAY JAY JAY JAY!". Stupid dumbasses

Fallon still doing nothing about it. I know he likes to stay on peoples good side and doesn't want to polarize himself but he could at least make neutral jokes about it

Yep. Conan can go to FOX Jan 23rd if he wanted to. It looks like they're giving him a payout, too.

Watching tonights show, and after watching all of those Carson clips, I'm sickened. Conan would have been the next Carson. The next fucking Carson, guys.

Yes. But realistically, he probably won't be on t.v. until the summer or fall, since a network (Fox?) would have to get a bunch of their affiliates to agree to it. Plus, they'll need to build a studio, which takes time obviously.

Various posters have said right away but when you read the article linked it always says something like the deal will allow to host a show well before his contract ends. So that could mean a year from now. One article said as earlyas september or late as january

I'm sure they can find one of craigslist.

Yes, but don't read too much into that. It's going to be a while (probably Fall at the earliest if you start hearing actual negotiations being rumored after new week) before it would be on the air.

They need several weeks of No Conan Drama before Jay steals back the show.
You mean SAVES the show, right? Oh man, I can't wait for Jay to reclaim the show. It means more gems like Headlines at 11:35 again. I just don't get how he does it. I mean, I think anyone producing a newspaper has bullet-proof editing, but among the hundreds of papers produced on a daily basis, some of the stuff that gets printed is unintentionally funny due to awkward phrasings and typos, and Jay and his crack team find them! It's a comedy gold mine. No one else in comedy can produce grade A material like that. Nobody!

It's to be expected. Dude is heir apparent to the Tonight Show now (barf). Offending anyone is the last thing he wants to do. Funny(sad?) part about it, is that he could be hosting TTS in 5-6 years, when Jay actually decides to retire for good.

I mean Conan is great, but Carson is Carson. No one can be the next Carson.

If Conan goes to FOX he will eat in to a shitload of Leno's ratings. In fact, if it goes like it did with Letterman, Leno may never recover. Yeah, I understand all of the arguments in this thread. I have read every single one guys, so no need to repeat them. I'm not saying that's what *will* happen.

But oh do I fucking hope so.

Other than Community I don't watch any NBC shows (well, Conan).

Wait, I just remembered that Conan had a Wall of Fame built for everyone to sign when they are on the show. Is that going on Ebay?!

Well if he does go to FOX, all he has to do is be better than Chevy Chase to not be the worst failure on that network.

Even better - people send them in. They probably have some interns sort through them. It's the laziest bit on television.

Fallon may be legacy, but I don't see anyone jumping to give him the tonight show. He kinda sucks. Expect Kimmel or Conan talks. Except probably not Conan after this.

Can't believe no one else picked up on Mary Lynn saying to Conan (paraphrase), "You and me are Olive Garden people." Very subtle way of saying she thinks he'll end up at Fox. Hope it all works out.

What? How does that work?

How do you get that out of that?

i would think people would avoid it like the plague now. Sure it might be lots of money but its not worth the stress when the brass most likely will shit all over you.

By jove, I think you don't got it.

I bet Leno holds on to The Tonight Show until he either dies or his health is so messed up he can no longer do it.

Who owns the trademark to Triumph? Please don't tell me NBC.
That's a great question. I wonder which of his recurring sketches and characters he'd be able to take with him. Maybe that was part of the agreement that cost him the $10 million.

I'm sure by that time cars will be smart enough that Jay will be able to hand over his show to one of his cars.

And why is your name not Onix anymore?

Ehhh, figured I'd kick it old school with my original alias. Going back to my roots.

Now if only I can convince them to add my original post count to my current :lol

The conversation was something like, you may get a shitty deal where you're currently working, but sometimes a new opportunity opens across the street (Olive Garden). She then said they're both Olive Garden people. It wasn't any super secret code about Conan being on Fox, but I read it as her thinking that's where he'll end up.

I got that out of the message as well. Conan quickly spilled into a joke (unintentionally?) but yeah the story was a very coy cover story for see you at fox in a few months wink wink wink wink wink.

My mom made a similar point today. She thinks that the major talent will be less interested in pursuing the Tonight Show since NBC has been so terrible at honoring their agreements.

Sure, it'll remain a good gig, but I doubt anyone will be willing to freeze their career for 5 years based on a deal with NBC.
