PHOTO DUMP of MOC Cafe Shop first floor. THIS IS A GIRLY SET. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

As I was saying before, I'm doing a MOC off of Friends' Cafe Shop and make it a viable addition next to the PetShop Townhouse and other great modulars on the same street.

This is version 1. I'll be making a lot more finishing touches down the road like adding stuff on the walls and fixing the brick layers to be more interlocking. Not to mention to move the whole building back a bit to match the tileset of the street.

http://i.imgur.com/qr5crJh.jpg
Entrance to the Cafe! Not an important detail or anything but the whole first layer of the walls are red, pink and white save for the very wall in between the glass walls.
http://i.imgur.com/3Jktqm2.jpg
Lots to see here. First the menus on the left will tell you how much everything is. :D Brunette here is ordering OJ, vanilla sundae, and strawberry shortcake. The sticker on the right also tells you that the colored ramp tiles are flavors of drinks and ice creams you can get. More on that in another photo. What you also cannot see is that the cashier has a register on top of a single drawer box piece (that holds a single green buck lol). On top of this register is a cherry jar. :D
http://i.imgur.com/juH4op6.jpg
On your right of the entrance you'll see the stairs going up to the residence part of the cafe. Owners do live here afterall! :D (Just like the petshop...) At least there's a gumball machine for you to get candy! :D
http://i.imgur.com/eZtpP4R.jpg
BURGERS! YAY. Notice I used a lattice to separate the booths. Notice the sticker tables. :D They're adorable and perfect for this scenario. Notice I used tile pieces on the cushions.
http://i.imgur.com/d8Q7Zo3.jpg
Notice the table in the corner. The disc can rotate freely. It has mayo, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and a little dish of sugar packets which looks like a white stud on a black stud. :D The brunette here is getting her condiments on her burger! EDIT: Hmm, I just realized I could add a BQ condiment but I don't have a brown top piece (whatever you call those). :(
http://i.imgur.com/rrCH4u4.jpg
This is the large table for more than 2. Banquet table for parties and the like.
http://i.imgur.com/HEqtELh.jpg
Male: "Oh god, what am I doing in here." At least there's a pie in this photo! <3
http://i.imgur.com/Bijxfk3.jpg
Notice the unisex bathroom. And a large array of glasses for drinks and ice cream. :D
http://i.imgur.com/z0kZq88.jpg
Notice the ovens. There's 3 of these, and the red box with cupcake cups in it. Ultimately this photo is to show off the neat array of flavors for the ice cream/drinks. Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla, Cherry, Orange, and Lime in that order.
http://i.imgur.com/oTUWzfL.jpg
Notice the fridge, its ajar and it has a sticky note on it. Notice the unisex bathroom's stall open. Plenty of room to open all the way. There's room on the top of the fridge for dishes and LOTS of dishes in the sink. :D I love that gold faucet I got with one of the friends' set. And yeah, that's the back exit. There's two trash bins out back. Rows of mugs lmao for the morning rush.
http://i.imgur.com/LaHzatg.jpg
This is what I have left in regards of food. I have hotdogs somewhere lol, they'll be incorporated into the grills. But yeah, I thought about doing a cold store and a pantry on the second floor for these two baskets. I include a clock that I'll add to the wall, and also to include a dark looking... carrot that could make for an excellent "shit" to include in the toilet! :D :D :D

Built the majority of Helms Deep so far, just the inner wall left. Great build, especially on forming the curved walls and the sides of the Hornburg.

It only makes me wish I had a second set to make the full thing!

When we started getting (back) into LEGO we realized that we got a few of the Dino sets pretty quickly, as my son was really interested in them. Looking at it I've decided to get ahead and try to get as complete a set as we can (probably minus the big one) since we were so close anyway.

Now that I'm paying a little more attention, I kinda feel like I overlooked this series. Of course, it's still primarily all about those figs.

So here's a sneak peak of the moc I'm working on. The plan is to have some kind of mountains in the background. I'll take a pic to hopefully make them look off in the distance.
Not sure about the front of the hill either. Might rebuild that completely. It's only the first prototype build so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could do something like this that I did for this MOC:

I like that a lot. Are you basing it on the promotional poster with the silhouettes of the Fellowship on the hill, or the scene where they pass through a pair of rocky outcrops one by one?

Yeah it's based on the poster. I found a fairly large version of it that you can pick out the detail and color a bit better.
Fun fact. Aragorn doesn't come with a cape so he stole young obi-wans! :D

Wow you've already got the posing spot on then!
I reckon combine it with the style of micro moc mountains like Harry has demonstrated, along with more foliage along the plates to round it off?

Awesome. I love it. Been thinking of doing a Star Wars diorama like that recently as well. Soon...

Finally clicked on most of the pics (you should make them visible on here without clicking), and I love it. The Friends line is really fantastic, and more people on here should give it a chance. Great colors and building techniques, and also opens up so many really twisted ideas for MOCs.

3 things I hate when I open a Lego set:

1. Sheets and sheets of stickers because for the love of all that is good, I can't for the life of me apply a sticker straight. The day I apply one straight is the day I die.

2. String because I suck at tying worthy knots with such a puny bit of string. They should come pretied or something like that.

3. Instruction booklets with a bunch of pieces that are the same color but just different shades...because I know I'll confuse them and they can't keep the colors on these pages right for anything! Go back to the old way of producing instruction booklets!

Started work on a MOC diorama of this slightly famous film scene:

Have most of the it laid out and built. It is just getting it stable that is difficult. So many thing parts to it, keeping it structurally sound and close to mini fig scale is hard.

How many years has it taken you to build a good lego library phoneciple? Where your not struggling for pieces so much?

I had a decent backstock of pieces from the 80s, but didn't start buying anything until last January or so. Now it is just piling up and I am running out of storage space. All my MOCs are usually modular buildings, so they take TONS of pieces, so that thins the herd quite a bit.

The thing that makes that scene hard to keep stable is the small antennae poking from the bottom, and that the outer platform is suspended only by that small beam.

for myself, after a year of heavy LEGO lifting I have a very good library, and once I finalise something I will order specific parts in specific colours to replace the mishmash of colours previously used.

I haven't ordered anything yet. I usually look at what I want to try to achieve and use what I have. If I do not have the parts necessary to pull it off, I improvise and try and adapt the idea around what parts I do have. With the Empire scene I am trying I stared at the pic and started thinking of what parts would achieve the look and realized I had most of them.

That's interesting to know guys. I once had a dream that I went to the the lego store and all their pick a brick parts were grey or black. It was heaven for me :)

I cancelled my preorder from Barnes and Noble that was due to ship today, I was about to get 9 sets in total, most of the TMNT ones (minus the shellraiser) the bane vs batman, mr freeze and spiderman vs venom sets. I cancelled it after all but the tiny michealangelo vs krang set disappeared from the order without notice, I'm glad I caught that in time as the TMNT sets were the main reason for my order and it was $40 for the 9 sets for postage to Australia, which now changed to $35 for 5 :/

sigh, just got back from the grocery store and as i was passing the toy aisle, i happened to spot the Mech Creator set for the contest... Couldn't resist so i got it for full price!

Just gone back up to £75. Hopefully it'll be like the LOTR sets eventually though- they were reduced all of last month on and off.

Yeah, prices fluctuate often on the amazon stores.

I caught the deal on twitter @legoogeluk (brickbadger.com)

Still hoping amazon.de will have Jabba's Palace at €89 again.

Hell at THAT price, even i'd have to jump on it i suppose just for value even though i have no love for that set

At that store i was earlier i also spotted Monster Fighters: The Zombies for the very first time EVER, even my official Lego store doesn't have that one!

What to do? what makes it so special? Should i get it? It looks like the weakest of the MF line to me honestly hmm

Dat Hammer Car!

yeah i know some of you here are going crazy over the hammer car, but i'm not feeling it, not a fan of movable play features since i don't really play with my sets!

Other than that and the fact that it's kinda rare now and hard to get, anything else that's great about it? price per piece is good i guess hmmm

Zombie army - the more, the merrier. I still want more zombie faces and clothing. There's a bunch of good custom ones out there. A shame the Shaun of the Dead CUUSOO project got rejected.
