Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

How does PSVR compare to Oculus in terms of exclusives? I only have enough to afford one.

It depends, both Oculus and Sony have studios working on exclusive games so it's a tough call.

It all comes down to what do you want an isolated experience or a social experience?

PSVR has a more family oriented experience, while Oculus has more horror and mature experiences.

Also, take in mind Oculus will run on an open platform while PSVR runs on a locked platform making porting more easily feasible.

I think it will be much the same as PC vs console exclusives. PC will have a broader range of experiences, I suspect Sony/PSVR might have some of the more finely crafted ones however. Rift have been at work for ages yet Sony come out with Rigs which has great potential to bridge the divide between what works in VR and what is accessible and appealing to the masses, to COD players for instance. And from all accounts they've designed a great VR FPS style experience when others have said it's not the best game type for VR.

I trust in Sony's 1st party devs to do some amazing things. Oculus has some very new indie studios at work on software, and while we may see very innovative stuff I don't expect, initially, the level of polish and quality is going to be there.

Could be very wrong of course. I just trust a focused company such as Sony, with tons of their own devs, and great communications with 3rd parties, to bring some of the more marketable VR games to the system, before perhaps Oculus can achieve it. Oculus will have way more stuff, some cool esoteric stuff, and yes way more raw porn experiences, lol, but will it have the polish that Sony can bring?

And then we have Dreams. If that game really is a VR title, and is as creative and unique as their demo promised, that would be an incredible thing to experience and take part in in VR, and on a whole other level compared to anything I've seen from anyone else in the VR space as of yet.

EDIT: (Btw I really don't mean to start a console vs PC war, but I just mean, in terms of the games that have most impressed and affected me, I'd be at a loss without PlayStation. The Last of Us, Journey, Ico. I'm thinking in terms of games like that PC has little or no answer. And yeah I envy people with Oculus Rift and Elite, that looks too good.)

Hi, just found out this topic of upcoming Morph... PlayStation VR games!

I'm the co-founder of MixedBag and we're also working on two PSVR games, the adaptation of the original Futuridium EP Deluxe (available at launch) and Futuridium VR, a full sequel made with VR in mind and with special VR-only gameplay mechanics.

I wanted to share a couple more images that we've released yesterday of Futuridium VR, we'll have more coming soon!

Hope you like them, the game will be very different than the original Futuridium.

I wasn't a big fan of the first (probably because my eye condition doesn't allow me to gauge distance very well, so playing the game is extra hard for me), but I can see you guys put a lot of effort into the game. Count me excited for Futuridium VR!

This and having a decent PC is what will ultimately make me prioritize the Oculus.
I'm curious what sort of stuff (not only gaming related) people will come up with.

I mean, as far as exclusives go, i bet you most of the launch games will be 6/10 at best on both platforms.
Which is enough for launch games of a totally new platform like VR is, i guess.

The thing I love about VR is just the fact we are seeing a resurgence of space sims. Now is the time for a new freespace who ever has the license. I'm in on the psvr just for eve. Didn't the debs of elite say they would look into a ps4 version after the Xbox version is done? If they do bring it over I hope it uses the psvr.

Thanks!

The first Futuridium was conceived as a mix of a shooter and a puzzle game, heavily inspired by the classic 8bit game Uridium (but in 3D). It's an incredibly hard game, it was meant to be hard but we got a bit carried away...

Futuridium VR is shaping up as a very different experience, it's very different than the original Futuridium. And it'll be a lot more approachable. :)

Will share more soon! ;)

Oh this is new to me, so there are two versions of futuridium you will be releasing, the first one and it's sequel? If so, I will have to update the list then :p

Looks gorgeous. Great artstyle and exactly the kind of thing I'm looking forward to in VR.

You guys should look at doing a VR remake of The Sentinel...I'm sure you remember it ;)

Yep! We'll update Futuridium EP Deluxe to be PlayStation VR compatible at launch, and we're doing Futuridium VR as a full VR sequel.

Thanks, we're really happy on how it's shaping up. :)

I think The Sentinel would be absolutely perfect in VR...

I'm probably the only one, but I'm getting Star Fox vibes and I TOTALLY WANT THAT!

edit- and that Cat Mouse game looks soooo cool.

It'll come as a free update too? Nice! Will the vanilla game be patched to 60fps? iirc the original was 30

Looks great. Is Futuridium VR also coming to Steam?

Not a single one of those games in the OP is convincing me to shell out £300-£350 odd for the PS VR. Of course its possible VR has to be experienced rather than just shown, but still.

It would be great if they worked some magic and got a slightly downgraded version of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture running on PSVR (It being an exclusive and all). God that would be incredible. That's just the kind of game I'm dying to play in VR. I can't think of anything that would be more beautiful, honestly.

I think these RIGS shots are new, they're a bit heavily compressed but the best I could find.

Looks like parallax textures are in.

RIGS02.jpg

I don't think 3D texture effects are ideal for VR but maybe the illusion's held in a twitchier game like RIGS. MSAA/EQAA still looks very good but they should probably rethink the art on those X-wires and anywhere else there's very thin lines you'll see from a distance, replace them with something chunkier so they don't become a sub-pixel flicker.

Anisotropic still really lacking though. Interested to see how these explosions look in motion. Polygonal concentrated fire and smoke would be nice.

That sounds good to me. I liked Futuridium EP Deluxe a lot, but I also like that you're changing things up for the sequel. The imagery already looks quite different. I'm interested in finding out how the gameplay mechanics differ, and how they are suited for VR.

I'm kind of conflicted with Morpheus. Part of me wants to support the platform and buy it on day one, but the other part says to wait and see how it's received. The latter part reminds me that I picked up a Virtual Boy for $20 after it flopped. I regret nothing.

Can't be worse than what cellphones and other things have already done to people, similar to an addiction :p

I'm not so sure. With cellphones and tablets etc, you're always aware that you're in your house or wherever. Putting this thing on will make you feel like you're in space, for example. This has a lot more control over your senses that anything currently available.

PS4 is my gaming system and Eve Valkyrie is all I need to know I'm buying Morpheus. Never before has a game trailer had such an effect on me. I literaly was out of breath first time I saw it.

Everything else will be a bonus. A huge bonus.

Also I should add I'm on the team 'VR will change everything'.

This is an "on-rails" spaceship game where you only are able to look and shoot? Or you can move the spaceship wherever you want to go?

You can still take it off though, it's the responsibility of the person to manage their activity with this peripheral. It's the same as a person that has the choice of becoming an addict or not.

This isn't forced :p

Move the spaceship wherever you want, have dogfights, interact with other people and look around the cockpit. Not on-rails in any mean.

I have a feeling this is going to be PSVR's first killer title and I'm not being sarcastic.

Um. Wow. I'm seriously getting some star fox vibes from those captures.

The pilot's view is controlled by the headset but flight controls and combat is still handled via DS4. The same concept is implemented (or will be implemented) in War Thunder as well.

lol, good thing the game is free then for it being the first killer app.

It's a first party tech demo highlighting all the various things PSVR can do. It's family friendly and an overall shallow experience that won't require a ton of time invested. You get this in the hands of a vocal majority and hope that the experience spreads (goes viral) through word of mouth. This is how the Wii prospered with its waggle controls. If the PSVR does well then VR as a whole will be lifted up by its mega install base. Now you have prospective VR buyers in the mobile space, personal computing etc.

True, but I know that I wan't to try it (as I try all new tech). So although no one is being forced there are plenty of people that will give it a go and if it is as immersive as it seems then I'm a bit concerned that people won't want to come back out.

I don't know why I'm referring to third parties, its really me that I'm talking about. I don't want to become obsessed!

Same reaction as me. I've dreamed of playing a futuristic space fighter game in VR. I would buy PSVR for that game alone.
