List your all time favorite albums

I'll be doing a top 10, but you don't have to follow that. You could just post a top 5, or go all out and list your top 100 if you'd like. Anyways, here's my list.

10. Hum- You'd Prefer An Astronaut
9. Soundgarden- Superunknown
8. Saves The Day- Through Being Cool
7. The Get Up Kids- Something To Write Home About
6. The Pixies- Surfer Rosa
5. Alice In Chains- Dirt
4. Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary
3. Nirvana- In Utero
2. Weezer- The Blue Album
1. Weezer- Pinkerton

If it were only the vanilla versions of the Blue Album and Pinkerton, they'd be equal, but the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition of Pinkerton push me to rank it slightly higher than Blue, although that deluxe version has great bonus tracks too.

No joking around on this list.

Nobody else so far is this hardcore.

I like some of this stuff, and seeing bands like this live is awesome. Meshuggah and Chimaera were outstanding live when I saw them. Thought for general listening, I can handle it for long haha. Not hardcore enough.

Interesting choices, why those particularly?
It's had to pin down really. Crazy Nights just clicks with me. I wasn't around in the 70s or aware of KISS in the 80s, became a fan in 96 when they were everywhere with the reunion. So I got to hear the back catalogue basically random as I purchased the albums. The energy, the sound it just resonated with me. My second favorite album of there's is Hot In The Shade (which was the follow up). As far as production goes, I was thinking the best sound was the two new tracks off of Smashes, Thrashes & Hits, which was released right between those two albums. So I guess it has something to do with the time period. Don't get me wrong, I love KISS from all eras.

As far as slang goes, I think because of how different it is. There is an emotional attachment too. Again, I love all of Ded Leppard's stuff, minus the first album... And that is just because of production reason.

I've listened to them so many times they've almost lost all power. When I'm really fucked up, I immerse myself to the sound of bands like Portal. It's not for the faint of heart. ;)

M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

They are two of my all time favorite bands so it was interesting to see somebody rank those underrated that high. Thanks for the response

At the risk of sound old, I don't know how anyone could derive any pleasure of any kind from listening to that. Different strokes of course, but listening to that for more than a minute would be cruel and unusual punishment for me.

Holy shit. Just got around to watching this. I've heard music like this before. It's not necessarily for me... a little too... "busy"... And I'm never really one for the growling vocals, the majority of the time. The amount of growl somebody like David Draiman or Rob Zombie employ is more my speed.

But dude, what in the ever living FUCK is that cuckoo clock headgear?? I can't get past it. I can't look away. What in the hell is going on here? I am absolutely baffled...

Funny, that's exactly how I feel when I listen to any modern "top 10" song, it's like nails to a chalkboard or worse, excessive handling of styrofoam. I've always loved extreme music. It's like beauty through chaos, if that makes any sense.

It got your attention didn't it? I'd say mission accomplished.;) They're all about esoteric themes so I guess that's part of it.

Speaking of extreme music, do you like Anal Cunt? In my eyes, It Just Gets Worse is a grindcore masterpiece. Sure, they had no technical proficiency, and they really had a raw, noisy sound, but that just adds to the savage charm. Oh, and It Just Gets Worse is incredibly offensive. Just look at this track listing: https://www.discogs.com/AC-It-Just-Gets-Worse/release/463917

The full album is up on YouTube too:

I've never been a fan of grindcore. It's too extreme, even for me haha. I'm more drawn towards different fuses of death and black metal, e.g. Deathspell Omega.

Thy Art is Murder - Reign of Darkness
Shadow of the Colossus - Shadow of the Colossus
Sylosis - Conclusion of an Age
Gojira - Magma
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God

In Dread Response - From The Oceanic Graves
Sybreed - God is An Automaton
Lorna Shore - Flesh Coffin
Soilwork - The Panic Broadcast
