LittleBigPlanet Official Thread: Live in your world, play in ours.

They're not releasing the GOTY Edition soon (1-2 months), right?
Just ordered my LBP copy from Game (very cheap), and don't want to it get "old" just after I buy it.

But, it'll take a few time to arrive in Brazil... which DLCs should I get?

Is there anyone wanting some PSN US credits in exchange of some PSN UK credits? Without this I won't be able to buy the DLCs...

I'm probably late to the party but I just put LBP in after the Ico/SOTC DLC (purchased and checked at the time) and there was an update (35MB). I don't know the update number cos my kid actually started the update process while I wasn't watching. So, what did I just download? Perhaps the (as yet un-accessible) content that was supposed to be released last Friday?

Yeah 1.15 is just a content patch. And probably more than just next week costume because I can't imagine it weighting 35mb...

Probably a three-way switch.

I assumed that it enclosed you (like the Galaga-styled levels, where you don't actually need to grab anything to move the ship)

Then, sponges on the left and right--left controls left arm, right controls right. You wouldn't lose altitude if the top of the mech closes you in, so that it doesn't fall unless you fall (if you have a jetpack on, that won't be a problem either)

P.S.-Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You're exactly correct. =) A three-way switch is not stable enough to maintain certain ways of shooting in a particular direction when you continue to move all over the place.

Wow Donkey Show, how did you make green smoke!???
They're a bunch of little green lights emitted set to foggy at a constant rate.

Is the 'greenification' a power-up? :)

Looks really very cool.

Yes it is! =)

It switches the bullets from white to green and essentially "one-hit kills" enemies aside from the pretty looking appearance change. Also, there are certain points where enemies and the wall are destroyed before losing their health. You use the arms to destroy these points and "one-hit kill" enemies as well granted it's rather risky. Of course, there will be enemies that will be impervious to the normal weapons so you'd have to either attack them close range or look for that power-up terminal.

I was initially going to use these suits for a Metroid-esque level so this is where all these power-ups and other stuff originated from.

The entire process itself is pretty simple in theory, but internalizing all the controls without any outside mechanics for portability while keeping the size relatively small took some work. I'm still trying to make even smaller ones to maximize multiplayer accessibility, but we'll see how far I can get. Glad y'all like it so far and I should have a level up soon.

looks crazy :lol what happens when the paint bra run out? blow you up right?

oh and you so have to have a big boss lol
Wow, didn't see yours!

Anyway, yeah you blow up when your paint meter runs out. And yeah, a large boss is definitely in store. :D

Oooh look, the site’s covered in random things! Lovely, lovely random things. Today we’d like to announce the first of our sticker packs made in conjunction with famous artist type folks, and the first one will be…. the Picasso pack!

Ok, ya got me, it’s the Jon Burgerman pack, 72 fabulous doodles from the world of Jon Burgerman, all packaged up and available for you to buy, and then graffiti all over the LittleBigPlanet.

This massive haul of sticker joy will be available on the store this week, and we’ll also be publishing an interview with the (Burger)man himself tomorrow, so sticker-round (lol geddit?) to hear his wise words!

Uh, you're right. Didn't think about that :lol

By the way, how do you make the paint meters react to bullets? I once saw a level where a simple switch started firing paint all over the place, I also wonder how they made that.

I'm not sure about how to feel regarding this pack...

I mean, A LOT of those stickers are faces.. I can't see the use for most of them :(

I guess if it's $1 I'll buy it, otherwise screw it.

Would it have killed them/Burgerman to make an exhibition level with the stickers? Its getting pretty stupid at this point. Unless these stickers are like 50p/$1, what is the fucking point?

Sorry, but you can be the hottest shit in the world at artwork, but it takes 1 evening to make something in Create Mode. Has Burgerman ever made anything? Does he even own the game?

Theres getting to be a real disconnect in value between all the DLC. You'll get better deals like the Monster pack, amazing deals like the MGS pack and then exercises in pointlessness by separating costumes and stickers with no levels.

This is not what I expected half a year on from the MGS pack, and its just getting more and more disappointing each week. Where is the teased LittleBigProjects website?

an exhibition level ...
Exactly what I was expectingwhen I first saw the title on the MM site. The lack of even a simple gallery/exhibition level for the pack is quite.. sad. Seriously, if they had it I would have probably bought the pack without thinking about it, but now I'm seriously doubting buying it..

Why don't some of you guys get together and create a gallery level for the new pack? It'd be great for the rest of the community to preview the stickers and it would raise awareness of your own levels :D

Considering paint has more weight to them versus plasma, it has a tendency to break things when emitted at a high speed. Plus they have an arching effect because they're heavy, thus lending to inaccuracy when firing. Since that kept happening while I was testing out a multiplayer, I initially thought of merging paint and plasma since plasma is light and floats. (BTW, you can capture paint balls you've shot from a paintinator) That didn't work.

Sooooo, I stuck a key on the plasma ball. Then I made a hole in the mecha and had an emitter shoot out mini paintballs. That emitter is connected to a magnetic switch which activates whenever the plasma key hits the radius. Therefore paint shoots out, hits the paint switch, and bam... life bar without "paint."

Doing this makes it easier to internalize a lot of the stuff I needed to do for the Armorboy. I should have a level done by the end of the week so please be on the lookout for it! :D

oh... so simple. I should have thought about that.

I saw it on one of Jaeyden's levels, but it wasn't set to foggy. If you give it a really short lifespan and emit it at a fast speed, it looks a lot better in regards to a smoky effect.

Media Molecule working on a "new, ground-breaking, PS3 title"

"A job listing posted on June 5, 2009, confirms that Media Molecule, developers of the fantastic and unequalled LittleBigPlanet are working on a new PS3 title.

The developers are looking for a gameplay programmer for "ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment" as part of an expansion of Media Molecule Ltd.

It was thought that the developers were working only on LittleBigPlanet PSP, as the studio is fairly small and employs only a handful of people. This news is good news for PS3 owners, and certain requirements in the listing suggest that this game will be LittleBigPlanet 2.

The listing asks for "experience writing and maintaining physics code" and requires the prospective employee to have "shipped a console game with an online component." This is obviously all speculation, but don't be too shocked when the game announced is LittleBigPlanet 2 (or LittleBigUniverse?)"

OLD?

So I just got this game today, three quick questions:

1. When I go into InfoMoon and go to "ME" I see three zeroes for the Play, Share, Create. How do you get numbers on these and what do they mean?

2. I purchased the MGS pack, where do I play those bonus levels that came with the add-on. I look into Story mode and don't see the option anywhere.

3. Is the Monster Add-on pack worth the purchase if I am not making levels, just playing them?

1. Sony/Mm havn't activated those scores yet, so don't worry, everyone's is at 0.

2. Scroll down the list from story down to LittleBigStore, you'll find all your purchased (and purchasable) content there. That's how you access your MGS levels.

3. Nope, unless you're interested in the costumes..

Thanks for answering my questions, unfortunately I have some more!

I can't ever seem to get in a game online with other people. I see that there are people online in the level and I click PLAY ONLINE, but when I get into the level I am always by myself. With an exception of maybe twice or something I'll jump in the middle of someone else's game, but I never know when that's going to happen. Almost everytime I end up playing by myself even when clicking Play Online. Am I missing something here?

And when I play levels online it says that I am winning prizes and stuff, what exactly am I doing with these prizes? Is that just for level creation or am I supposed to be doing something with these things? Are there ways to earn other people's costume stuff for my character by playing online levels. Is there really any reward for playing with other's online a lot? I'm assuming there's a few trophies to unlock, but other than for the fun is there really any point to playing online co-op?

Umm, I think that's it for now. This game is a bit overwhelming at first. I've made it past the first world and I think that I'm getting a grip with the game, but every now and then something new comes along that I don't understand. This game leaves a few things not explained in few detail I think.

... and I don't know if I've gotten used to the slippery controls and jumping in and out of background yet. That seems like a pain sometimes, I jump in and out when I don't intend to and it's hard to tell when attacks are coming in the fore or background and it's frustrating to die because you can't tell.

EDIT More Stuff: Is it pretty much required to have a usb keyboard or something to type on this game online? The on screen keyboard is just awful for me to use. I see people in the two online games I've played punching out messages pretty fast. Do people have the controller chatpads a lot for this game?

You are doing it right. It's just bad luck I guess.

Not sure if those numbers above levels refer to only those playing online. It might include those playing solo as well. It's just an indicator about how many users are playing that level.

Not old, but I doubt it will be LBP2.

I haven't played this game in months...and I can't believe some of the levels that are being created....wow.

Anyone want to recomend any "Adventure" type levels? Way beack at release there were a few msyery/adventure type ones. That is what I really wanted to make myself.

The problem with playing online is the pass column things. They are little poles that first show a sackboys face, but when you pass it, there is a circle with a line through it. After this point in the level, you cant add any more people to your game. The annoying part is that, for the most part, it is right at the beginning of the level. When I want to play online with people, I go to the Boom Town level in the 4th section (uncle jalepeno?). There is no pass column there, so its real easy to get a full group of 4. From there I just take the group (as I always seem to be the host) to the level that I need them.

If you or anyone else wants to go through a few of the levels, add me on PSN (BelligerentOC). I need to complete a level with 3 friends on my friends list, so I'm down to help anyone get their stickers... I've been playing more or less constantly the last few days...

Ahh, I've been wondering what those collums with Sackboy's face are supposed to mean. See things like that doesn't seem to be explained very well or if at all in the game.... I'll be sure to add you.

I don't know if anyone has posted about this before, but am I the only one who would really enjoy more content updates like the MGS4 level pack that was released? I wish that instead of just SF4, KZ2, R2, ICO etc. character skins that Sony or even other publishers would push to have new original level packs released with these character skins. That would go a long way towards keeping the game more relevant for me anyways. Some of the user levels are great fun, but I just wouldn't mind more themed official level packages.

Yeah, I didnt know what they were until I watched a tutorial about them in the Create Mode...

Yep, and they're really annoying. Getting 4 people together for the 3x and 4x co-op sections was a chore.

So where do I go to watch all the tutorials? I watched a bunch in the create mode, then when I press Square "go to next tutorial" stops showing up. So did I watch them all? I don't think I did because I have not gotten the Create trophy for watching them all yet, so where do I go to watch the rest?

Go into the popit menu and there will be icons with little green things on the bottom (like the bolts and strings and rods and such). The green blob thing means that you havent watched the tutorial/video on the item.

LOL, welcome to nearly every day's discussion here. :lol

I bought this game sometime back but never got to play much. Just started playing it with my kids and we all love it! Deserved all the high praise it got from the media.

Amazing game! Brings a smile on the face every time I play. So much cuteness :D

Recommend me some of your fav user levels I should try (I played littleBigContra already, good stuff).
