So I started playing Planescape Torment this weekend after finishing up Baldurs Gate and I have to say it’s amazing. I’ve always heard good things about it but nothing could prepare me for the shear amount of dialogue attached to the littlest things and how interesting it all is. I’m not that far yet but I can already tell it’s going to be one of my favorite games of all time. Everything from the atmosphere to the soundtrack and characters to all the little stories is just quality. As anyone else played this amazing game and if so what did you think? Did you also play it’s spiritual successor Torment Tides of Numenera and if so did you enjoy it? I really enjoyed Torment but I know it as somewhat of a bad reputation among fans of Planescape.

I have very, very fond memories of playing this one nearly 20 years ago! I still have the CD-ROM pack somewhere that I bought on Ebay after it had been out of print and hard to come by.

I guess if you want to play it today you have to buy it on digital? I see the enhanced edition is on sale right now on Steam and GoG. So tempted...

Yeah I’m playing the enhanced edition right now if you’re tempted I would jump on it.

Great game. Really enjoyed writing, music atmosphere etc.

Was my first IE games so had no idea what I was doing in combat. Still could finish it with peaceful choices wherever possible.

Planescape is amazing and a favourite since way back when but one repercussion of its success is that games think they can heap text on you in the same way when they have no where near as interesting a story to tell or choices to make as Planescape did.
