Looking for Wii games that you can play with one hand.

I'm looking for Wii games that can be controlled with just a Wii remote. Because of having a stroke at a the age of 6 months, I only have the full use of my left side. This is called hemiplegia. I'm able to play pc and xbox 360 games fairly easily but the wii remote nunchuck comb is impossible since I can not hold anything in my right hand.

Below is a list of games I've already discovered if they are playable by myself or not. If anyone can add to the list one way or another, say if you know of a Wii game that requires a Wii remote and nunchuck with no alternative control schemes, it would be appreciated.

I. Games that can be completely played with just the Wii remote:
ExciteTruck

Metal Slug Anthology (can be played one handed with JUST the nunchuck as
well which might be better for some)
Monster 4x4: World Circuit with Wheel

Wii Play

II Games that can mostly played with just the wii remote
Super Monkey Ball (a few unlockable minigames that a unlock require the
nunchuck but aren't required to be played)
Warioware (Several unlockable levels require the numchuck but those sections
can be ignored by all players)
Wii Sports (Boxing requires the nunchuck)

III Games that Require the Nunchuck (or other device) and are impossible to
play with one hand

I'd hate to play Excite Truck with just one hand, how do you pull off that? I mean, you use stuff which is at the opposite ends of the wiimote (must use both thumbs), plus you have to tilt the wiimote itself.

Also, Endless Ocean.

Mercury Meltdown Revolution Revolution and Kororinpa use the same control scheme as Monkey Ball. You can also play Need for Speed Pro Street, the B button is used for Nitro though. I expect Pangya and other golf game to be Remote only as well.

You can include Mario & Sonic at the Olympics in the second group, you can play almost everything with just the Wiimote.

I hold the controller with my thumb on the bottom and in the middle with my index and pinky holding it on top. My ring finger can easily press the first and second button at will and my index finger can reach the d pad. Its not easy but doable. Having big hands helps.

Endless Ocean is the type of game you can play lying around the lounge room and you probably play better at it whilst drunk.

It's not that easy. Most of the Youtube-like porn sites use a newer flash version for their players that the Wii browser doesn't support.

You are guaranteed to lose if you play just the Wiimote, and your competitor plays with the wiimote and nunchuck.

Dude, I also have spastic hemiplegia/hemiparesis (stroke at birth), although it's my right side that's fully functional...

I also find the Wii Remote/Nunchuck a real bitch to deal with, even though my left side is about 60% usable (on a good day anyways).

My left hand was trained by years of "regular" game pads...having the other hand to coutnterbalance...

So having to push one direction, then another on the analog stick can be frustrating to say the least. Found this out on launch day with Zelda and Trauma Center :'(

I'll just end up pushing air or twisting my wrist...

Anyways...you've got a great list already, and people have already mentioned Zack & Wiki and Fire Emblem. In my experience they're two of the best games on Wii to begin with, one-handing is gravy.

Also, if you have a gameplaying partner, you can always be P2 on Mario Galaxy. It's actually pretty fun.

Funny you brought this up, I'm actually working on a site dedicated to "disabled gamers" of all kinds, should be up and running by January. People like you are the reason I wanted to do it. I've had to adapt to controllers and arcade games over the years, and I'm really interested to see how others do it. Not just people like us, but even those who suffer from anxiety, or visually impared, etc.

Heh, I see.

Have you thought about building / having someone build for you a custom shell that would hold together nunchuck and wiimote, so that it resembles a conventional pad?

That way the games that do not make too much use of waggle but do use IR and the stick on the nunchuck could be doable.

That reminds me, the zapper is a godsend for me. because of it, I can counter-balance the nunchuck properly and finally play the Trauma Center games...

If anyone has information on other custom shells/controller adapters, I'd love to see it...

What? A Wii-remote-only game. I played it exclusively one handed to up the difficulty. Except for the one space station level which requires you to tilt the level 90 degrees forward which my hand cannot do comfortably.

Also one of the best uses of motion controls in a game so far. Works flawlessly. Its a very satisfying ball rolling game.

Just a quetion out of curiosity, how do you play on the pc and 360? I know Benheck made a one hand 360 cntroller but can´t imagine how it works with a normal controller.

How much use do you have in your right hand, Baron_C? Could you set the remote on a flat surface and tap the 'A' button without too much difficulty?

If so, you have the tools to play the whole game if you want to. There are portions that do require pointing, but for those you can set down the nunchuck and pick up the remote. Collecting star bits would be tedious but do-able, or you could always have someone else be P2.

My right hand is only about 10% usuable. I can use it to hit the space bar on the keyboard for jumping in FPS games or press the right trigger on the 360 controller but thats about it.

There are already a few disabled gamer websites out there. None of them have taken off though. Part of the problem is disabilities are so wide, its a hard topic to cover and attract traffic.

First person shooters are the only genre on the 360 I haven't quite figured out a playable solution. However being a pc gamer as well, I'm naturally biased already.

Oh, I know...I've been researching this for almost a year. It'll be tough going, but I really feel that it needs to be done and paid more attention to. Especially with companies trying to adopt an "everyone" philosophy.

I used to have a classmate with only two fingers on his left hand. He could only play games with the original Xbox controller and he rocked at Halo 2.
