Why would any country, regardless of topic, give a fuck what the rest of the work thinks? It’s fucking soccer here and it’s boring and it sucks. On the other hand, multiple countries and regions play American Baseball, especially in Latin countries and Japan and South Korea, and the NFL Europe games pack the fucking house to the point of the NFL considering an actual European team?

Everyone called this when EA got full control of the NFL license. This was totally expected. Hopefully, with 2K supposedly working on an NFL title, we can get some competition for Madden, and start to see it improve again. That said, I won't hold my breath. I am interested in what 2K can produce in an actual competitive market. I find the NBA2K franchise to be good, though they lost me last year with the change to the shot meter. I hate the VC and gambling mechanics they've implemented, but I get that it's just feeding on the propensity for whales to pay to win. I can live with that, as I don't care about playing online. I think the mechanics of the game are good, and improve each season (save for the shot meter). If they can bring that same quality to the NFL games, then I'll be happy.

Its a well known fact the hardest thing to do in any sport is hit a round ball with a round bat, especially when its thrown 95 plus MPH or has the bite and spin of a nasty slider. Madden usually receives decent 80 and 90 reviews just for existing and mainstream critics don’t know shit about football. It’s already a horrible sim of football, but it says a lot when even ign is giving it a trash score.

To be fair, rugby and American football require similar but not quite the same set of skills. I'm sure NFL players trying out for pro rugby would also have mixed results.

I haven't played a Madden game since '05. I honestly don't think I've missed out on anything. I've watched some videos lamenting the stagnation of the franchise since then, so seems like I left right around peak Madden.

The franchise deserves all the hate it gets because unlike other annual rehashes, Madden actually ended up losing features over time. It has to be the most bizarre situation any franchise has seen. Instead of getting more with new games, you started getting less. And then they'd throw back in a feature 10 years later, and try to pretend that it was something new. EA fucking sucks. FIFA has stagnated as well, but it was never done dirty like Madden was. Absolutely pathetic. I'll never buy another Madden again.

Pads are a necessity in american football, because the collisions are bigger. There's an argument to be made that removing the pads would soften the collisions, because people would be less likely to run headlong into certain injury, but I don't think that's an experiment anyone wants to take on at this point. American football used to be played with leather helmets, and less padding than today, but they beefed it up because of safety.

I think trying to mock american football as too soft is a losing argument. The NFL and college is basically a bunch of HGH monsters simulating car accidents without cars for 60 minutes. Anyone saying otherwise would end up shitting their pants when they put on a helmet and pads, and stepped on the same field as these super-athletic gargantuans. Watch an NFL combine sometime to see just what kind of speed and power takes the field each weekend, just at the collegiate level. It's fucking terrifying.

However trust me man they pack their stadiums harder and shut down entire cities. They give a huge fuck.

Every premiere team is the Oakland raiders if you're wearing an opposing kit.

Except Tottingham. All their fans are 22 year old guys who tuck their shirts in lol.
