That was quite possibly the biggest impulse buy I've ever made in my life. As soon as I read this topic I went to PA, ordered it, paid for it and now I"m posting this.:lol

Seriously wtf came over me =P.

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
In the Japanese version, while the dialog is in English, all the menus are still in Japanese.

Are you serious?

This is good news..

Is it the same translation, or a rough english translation akin to some of the Phoenix Wright games?

Do Asian versions of games have the same English localizations as the US releases? I ask because the English subtitles on Asian DVD releases can be sketchy sometimes, wondering if it's the same situation with games.

I thought it was confirmed the asian version had english voices in the movies but japanese text within the game? Or is that the japanese version? So does the "asian" version have all english text AND english voices for both cutscenes and withing the game (menus, battles etc)

This version supports selectable English, Japanese or Korean voices with English or Chinese menus and subtitles.

9/10 NeoGAFfers don't understand statistics. The other 3/10 don't care.
Its a shame you get the shitty Aus rating system, the damn thing is huge takes up alot of the case.

Well, I did finally put in an order for this... will see when it ships since it is out of stock.

A lot cheaper than it will be in Sweden when it releases anyway :)

I thought the Asian version was just PAL/NTSCJ/AUS and does not work on a NTSC/U console.

therefore it is not region free

It doesn't work on US consoles.

It's regionfree so it'll work on my US 360 correct?

Edit: WTF?! Why it is called region free when it's not region free?! more like semi region free.:(

Glad to see I can set the X or Y axis of the camera to the way I like, Blue Dragon is currently annoying me in that regard.

Since I am enjoying Blue Dragon a lot more than I expected, it will only be the second JRPG I will have ever completed after Skies of Arcadia, I will be buying Lost Odyssey but I will wait till its UK release as it will probably need the support judging from how Blue Dragon sold.

This is a historic moment. It's the first time in history a US console gamer has been jealous of an European gamer.

Wow, between the strong Euro and generally high game prices around here it's less than half the price of new 360 games bought locally. Crazy.

Not exactly, there's a certain Silent Hill 2 special edition that we never got, man was I pissed when I saw that Europe got that.

Considering we've been talking about that version for some time now in the main LO topic, I think we could have done with an affiliate link...

I added it later cause I thought why not. And if it bothers you so much your gaf experience is ruined then please do tell, and I will remove it.

And the other LO thread is pretty bloated with a lot other crap and non crap so it isn't really easy to see if someone brought it up or not. Do excuse me for being so dumb as making a topic so it would be easier to see.

Will you get import customs to pay?

That might happen if you are unlucky, but hopefully it wont. They usually don't check envelopes here in Sweden, but if it comes in a big package then it might be a little more risky.

Well, I for one am really happy about this topic, since I don't read official threads of games I have not yet played in fear of spoilers. And I never read official threads of the japanese version.

I thought affiliate links were banned? Maybe I'm getting confused with Amazon, since GAF has its own Amazon links.

Didn't know that was the case, oh well. I'll just remove it then.

I went to look for this yesterday. Saw a few copies in the local department store. The box is big looks hawt.

But - it said 'Region Japan' and the languages on the back said 'Chinese/Japanese' - no mention of English.

They wouldn't let me open the box and try it out on the display 360, so I didn't buy a copy..

On reflection, I think that would be the Asian version with Chinese/English because there has only been two releases so far. First the Japan release and now the 2nd one with Chinese/English/Japanese text.

I'll head to the city later today and ask one of the specialist game stores there.

Can't wait to play this game! It's one of the reasons why I bought a 360.

I'm playing the Asian version, and as shown in the picture above, it is all in English text with 3 voice options. Initially, I was worried about the Chinese/Japanese print on the back of the huge box (4 disc set), but I believe it is a misprint. There are no Mandarin characters in the game, unless you are willing to broaden your grid of definitions to include Kanji as "Chinese". Anyway, the front of the Asian version's box also puts "中英合版“ (English + Mandarin),which only holds true for the manual, not the game.

I'm disappointed after giving this a few hours of play. The graphics look like PS 2.5, a far cry from Irrational's excellent use of U3 engine for Bioshock! That's secondary to the fact Kiyoshi Shigematsu's Thousand Year Story is available only in text. I've just unlocked 3 stories, and they are indeed running in alignment with his reputation as a Naoki prize winner, but why aren't these scenes acted out as a CG or given interactive control to the player? The Aim Ring system is also pretty boring (no combos, juggles or special attacks), I'd take Shadowhearts' Judgement Ring anyday. Another minor irritance comes in the form of the small font size, they are hurting all 4 of my eyes. :lol

Hopefully by disc 2 I'd have changed my tune. I want to love LO, yet I'm finding myself working hard to source for reasons to like it.

Strangely I've grown to like it; in fact I like it much better than Blue Dragon.
The Thousand Year Dreams are a treat to read, makes for a nice reward for trudging through the game.
Boss battles are ROCK HARD. 3 hours in and on my 2nd boss battle and I just can't clear, even after 4 tries. Pretty cool though, I like the challenge.

Graphics are unappealing at times, but they do look pretty good every now and then. Monsters are nicely designed and animate very well. Framerate can go wonky at times, but at least the slowdown doesn't drag out battles like BD.

One thing I don't get is if I'm playing an immortal, why do I still get to see a Game Over screen???

Your immortal characters revive after 2 turns of fainting, but if your party is completely wiped out including the mortal characters, it's game over.
