The Nyko extended battery is fantastic; I kind of wish I had sprung for the extra $10 to buy the charging base, but it wasn't in stock at Best Buy at launch when I bought it.ruxtpin said:So I just picked up Ghost Recon on the 3DS for 8 bucks off Amazon w/ credit. In for a good time I hope?
Also, anyone picked up one of those battery extenders yet?
But now that I have the extended battery and generally leave my wifi off, I can go for days without charging and leaving the system in sleep mode, which is how I roll with my XL and my PSP with the stamina battery. It only adds about an inch of thickness to the system, and honestly I find it much more comfortable to hold due to the larger base and rubbery texture. Best $20 you can spend on a 3DS.
I'm playing through OoT right now (my first real try at the game, never finished the original) and I feel exactly the same way. Generally, the 3D is really nice in that game, but a) the ghosting in high-contrast scenes, like the Sage of Light cutscene, is really jarring, and b) the narrow viewing angle means I pop out of the 3D sweet spot just enough to be irritating.DbebM5 said:My perspective: I think OoT3D looks fantastic, and the 3D is technically great, but I'm honestly still undecided whether it improves the experience. I think that, in general, 3D has a minimal improvement on first-person/third-person 3D games, where motion already gives your eyes an illusion of 3D even without any stereoscopic effect. My favorite use of 3D on the 3DS is in Shadow Wars, which I'd call a "dollhouse" game (characters laid out on a board), because the perspective is static most of the time so you can appreciate the characters "popping out" more. And it's also a really fun game and a must-have.
Essentially, 3D itself is all right, but ultimately if I have to spend time and concentration to "maintain" the 3D instead of just relaxing and playing a freaking video game, I'm going to ditch it. I'm about 6 hours into OoT, and I always start with 3D on but always end with it turned off. Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is the only game I leave the 3D on for, and that's because it's turn-based and not twitchy.
