Is this really as big a deal as people are making it out to be? Do we even know why he left or what state he left the engine in when he did, or is it all supposition? Because unless some of the super vague yet ominous comments have some clarification coming, I don't see much need to jump to conclusions about a quiet change in programming staff, even with such a big name. His portfolio doesn't seem to contain any masterpieces to make me particularly concerned about his leaving. I realize this is a key staff member who is doing crucial work, but it's not like the situation with XII where it lost its driving creative force halfway through. Wasn't this dude just a programmer?
