I don't think they've done anything other than add DLC. Hell, it's been over eight months and things like mirror reflections are still broken.

This is not 100% true : AI has been patched (it's not F.E.A.R. AI level but it's serviceable), frame pacing has been patched, they added races, cars and guns.
It's also a tiny bit less glitchy but I believe the engine is unpatchable lol.

What's the deal with the dlc for this? Any word on when it's all going to be out

Should be all out by the end of July:

Still gonna wait until the Season Pass drops in price.

Is there any word on a Xbox One X patch yet? Started it on my OG XB1 but stopped playing about a third in, but wondering if I should hold on for a One X patch to finish it.

I really enjoyed the main mission of Faster, baby. The optional one seems to come along with the usual boring side missions of the main game—which I haven't finished yet and don't plan to do so for its artifical game time extension with repetitive missions. Regarding the main plot of the DLC and its mission design, this is how I want a Mafia to be. Intense and with a more narrow mission design in addition with characters and interaction with such, whether through dialog or gameplay mechanics. I'd rather take this approach before 'do it however you like, but just kill him/smash up things worth several thousands of dollars' any day.

It was just way too short (okay for a DLC, however). If they ever gonna make a Mafia IV with this kind of missions and make it several hours long, I'm all in.

Will continue with Stones Unturned in a couple of days.

Just started playing when I got it digitally on sale for $20 a while ago. Man it's a fun game and I appreciate that I can play stealthy in most situations. The whole drive to the other side of the map for an objective annoys me, though. Any fast traveling?

The only thing that makes the journeys much better is the soundtrack and the realistic driving found under the options.

How is the performance on PC? I started playing at launch, but I found it boring. Any way to make the experience less annoying?

Performance seems better but I also upgraded my pc. They added more options in the video menus.

My question is what are the best graphics mods?

Way better than at release. Damn, I can even alt+tab out of the game, put my PC in hibernate, reboot, play a round of Overwatch and switch back to Mafia 3 without any problems or whatsoever. There were times the game just crashed when I changed the anti aliasing option.

My performance is fine but frame pacing is all over the place. At 30 or 60FPS it judders all the time, even if I lock the framerate using RTSS.

Anyone manage to fix this at all? Drives me crazy! I have a 970 and am running Win 7 x64 if that's any use.

I've been playing the Faster Baby! DLC and really enjoying it so far. Problem is the mother fucker keeps crashing. At certain points, it's really really annoying to the point of I'm thinking of giving up on it for now. I always have to restart my PC as well when it happens, completely locks my machine. Tried verifying my install etc just to confirm but that's fine and I've been playing other games with no issues throughout the day.

It's a real shame too as I honestly didn't many crashes at all during the main game but this is just giving me constant trouble. Bah.

Hangar 13 have released a dev diary for their last piece of Mafia 3 DLC, Sign of the Time, which is dropping July 25. Lincoln has to take down a Manson-esque cult in New Bordeaux.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go2AmSXy8KE

Fantastic thanks :)

Really looking forward to the last piece, after my complaints above I've had literally no trouble since then and was able to play Stones Unturned with no issues at all.

I started playing Mafia 3 2 days ago even though i owned it of months. But i wanted to start playing it when all DLCs are out and now that last one is around corner i thought that it was right time. I really like characters, writing and acting i this game and atmosphere is not always perfect but when it hits it is amazing. I really hope that Hangar 13 will get another chance with Mafia.

I do so, too. They showed they can pull of some incredible mission design and writing. I hope they find a more efficient way—since I think that's the reason why they filled their world and stretched the game time artifically with repetitive and mundane tasks—to implement such narrative driven missions so we see more of them.

Sign of the Times seems heavily influenced by True Detective season 1. I like the look of it.
You kidding me? Gotta play this!

I've recently gone back to get ready for the new DLC and my computer was showing signs of age after playing the majority of the game at 45-60fps. So I capped it at 1440p/30fps/a ton of reshade effects, and the game looks stunning.

I can't wait for the last DLC, I've heartily enjoyed the all the content in the game. Still the best damn gunplay and driving mechanics in the open world TPS genre for me. The weight feels so good.

I'm pretty sure they will. Mark Norris, formerly a senior producer at Guerrilla Games on Horizon, joined Hangar 13 earlier this year, and the studio's been hiring like crazy for their next game. Judging by a number of their recent job openings, they're making serious revisions to their in-house engine.

If this rumor is correct, you won't see a Mafia game anytime soon.

With all those licensed songs, strong marketing/advertising and overshipped copies, I think the chances are pretty low, sadly.

This rumour seems super fishy. It's linking an anonymous source in an article that has been taken down. And the 8 milliion sales target is ludicrous, although I suppose ludicrous expectations aren't that uncommon in this industry (but not even SE expected Tomb Raider to do numbers of that sort).

We have nothing to worry about then, because that article is fake. Considering that before Hangar 13's game the lifetime sales of the Mafia series was five million, the idea that Mafia 3 needed to sell eight million to break even is absurd, especially since it wasn't in development for nearly as long as Mafia 2.

Besides, I think the chances of seeing Mafia 4 are very, very good. :)

With Take 2, nothing is ludicrous. The fact that they overshipped Mafia 3 with 4.5 Million copies in it's 1st week and then only doing 500k between release and May 2017 tells you much. I don't even want to know how much money they spent on marketing and advertisements. They had huge venues at almost every event, they had posters and TV ads everywhere.

I'm not sure how that Tweet confirms that the rumor is fake, but the article goes into more detail at why they think what they think. If it's fake then that would be perfect, but if it's true... Take 2 will put the franchise on ice. That is guaranteed, as they would deem it as a failure for sure.

Besides, I think the chances of seeing Mafia 4 are very, very good. :)

And why is that? Are you implying something?

While it's not 100% accurate, SteamSpy has put the PC sales at over 500,000. Considering combined consoles usually outsell PC quite significantly for multiplatform titles, I'd imagine it's way over a million at the very least.

Granted, that article is from October last year, but that says to me that if it had truly done as bad as they say, we wouldn't be hearing about the studio hiring for a new game 9 months later.

If sales were truly terrible we'd probably be hearing about significant layoffs or even studio closure. So that at least gives me some hope that the article is inaccurate.

I am 8 hours in the game and i am slowly doing everything (yeah i am that type of players who doesn't mind doing everything if there is something enjoyable) and enjoying city, radio bits, music and atmosphere in general. Even though stealth is nothing special i am really enjoying sneaking through missions. Under all of that there is really big potential and i think that Hangar 13 could realize that potential if Take2/2K gives them another chance. There is very little AAA games set in historical periods out there and there are so many interesting periods to visit.

Just imagine Mafia 4 in early Vegas where you could manage and build casinos and hotels, with more multiple choices.

Even with it flaws I enjoyed the game and it's world, DLC has seemed really cool too. Looking forward to get them when they're all out and maybe bit discounted.

On the article that Mafia is in trouble, it had sold approximately 5 million copies in february. Though Take-Two's CFO Lainie Goldstein did acknowledge that development costs for Mafia 3 were "higher" than forecast. But I still find it hard to believe that their sales expectations were much higher than that. More like that the budget got bit out of hand.

I'd be sad if they didn't get to do Mafia 4, the studio does seem talented but they made some really bad choices.

You know that 2K sold-in over 5 million copies of Mafia 3 to retailers, right? That's money 2K keeps. Mafia 3 is the fastest selling game in 2K history, and performed significantly better than Mafia 2.

https://www.videogamer.com/news/mafia-3-has-now-sold-in-approximately-5-million-units
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-a-black-protagonist-but-its-really-paid-off/
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...nch-sales-up-nearly-60-percent-on-predecessor

The game sold poorly on PC in part because the port was busted at release, so it's not really a good barometer of the game's overall performance. The article is based off a Medium post that gets so many basic details wrong about Irrational, 2K Marin, and Hangar 13, that the people involved in those studios can't take it seriously.

The fastes selling thing was a PR spin, because they (over)shipped 4.5 Million copies in their first week. They are reporting the sold-in and not the sold-through. The 1st article even has that as a clarification at the bottom:

Clarification: An earlier version of this story failed to specify that the 4.5 million copies of "Mafia III" sold in its first week were sold and shipped digitally and to retailers. The story has been updated.

Beating Mafia 2 is not really a difficult, but do you really think that Mafia 3 has beaten GTA 5 when it comes to that? Because it didn't.

It's a fact that they specified 5 Million copies "shipped" in their financial call. If that was actually sold, they would be boasting about it. This is also taken directly from the financial call:

Interestingly, Take-Two's CFO Lainie Goldstein used the earnings call to acknowledge that development costs for Mafia 3 were "higher" than forecast.

Like I said, Take 2 is really bad with forecasts, so it wouldn't actually surprise me.

Do I want it to happen? Hell no. I want the next entry with a powerful story as Mafia 3 has. Just refine the gameplay more and don't give us this repetetive madness. More focused missions, like the takedown missions and they are more than good to go.

Anyways, I think I said it all. Don't want to further derail the thread. I'll still read your reply and accept your opinion on it.

One strange thing that i am trying to avoid and do stealth missions instead is so satisfying in Mafia 3 that is hard to restrain itself is popping heads with silenced pistol. And i am really surprised with some locations and how they are designed. Some of the major ones have multiple entrances and some of those are kinda hidden and you find them when you explore. Yeah you can roll in in the car on main entrance and make chaos or you can explore a bit and find hidden entrance ans stealth trough whole mission.

Akai__, I specified sold-in above. The development costs were higher than expected because 2K had the sunk costs of 2K Czech's cancelled Mafia 3. The publisher then established a brand new studio in 2014, built a new engine, and hired a team. Also, if you read the story, the author specified fastest selling game in 2K Games history not Take Two, so GTA V wasn't even part of the discussion.

If you're taking 2K to task for PR speak, why aren't you skeptical of "GameZone" paraphrasing a Neogaf thread and posting it as a news story? The author didn't even bother to give Pachinko a shout out despite stealing his post. You're being very selective with who you trust as a source (a poorly written story by some fly-by-night site over The Washington Post).

Finally got around to unlocking the Griffin Marauder - what a beast of a car. Like it's incredible to drive in, and is definitely on the list of my favorite vehicles ever in any game. Wreaking havoc in Sinclair Parish at top speeds is absolutely awesome.

The Big Easy race was a real highlight. I know the game is going to continue to get trashed because of the city takeover mechanics, but honestly I think it's one of my favorite games ever. Even watching some of the NPC behaviors, and enjoying the sightseeing of New Bordeaux makes me happy. I'm really excited about the new DLC - I just wish the weed growing mechanics did not take so long for in-game time to progress!

Under all of those boring parts there is really solid potential. With all of this managing mechanic I really hope that they will tackle early Vegas days one day.

Also i think that they managed to do open world better than Mafia 2 but again M2 was really butchered and what we got in the end is only fraction of the game that was meant to be.

I hope they get to make a sequel too, as you said, they did get several things right and it would be shame if they don't get the chance to improve on M3. If they do, I hope they're aware of some of the features that the Sleeping Dogs developers wanted to implement in the scrapped sequel. As that game's definitely never going to happen, it'd be great to see what they had planned live on in another crime franchise.

I'm guessing the DLC is another 2-3/4 hour situation?

I love this game, with all of its problems, and really want to play the DLC but I can't justify the £24.99 price tag of the season pass.

Let's hope there's a sale soon.

Definitely too pricey for my taste and I wouldn't pay that although I loved (the 1,5 hours, roughly... duh) Faster, Baby! DLC and as soon as my exams are over I hop onto the additional DLC train with Stones Unturned and Signs of the Time.

Early vegas is an era I'd love to see them tackle. The mix of the criminals, Hollywood, religion, gambling, etc would make for an amazing setting. Especially if they spanned a couple decades (40s-60s).

Here's the last great car you'll be able to get in Mafia -- the Samson Harrier. See how it compares to the Griffin Marauder

FYI, you can see a sneak peek at a new costume he's wearing in the shot...

Finished the main story's arc of Stones Unturned and will skip the optional missions for I think they're just like the rest of the main game's side missions (please correct me, If I'm wrong).

While Faster, Baby! do orientates on the story-driven mission design from Mafia 1 and 2, it also delivered a bit 'open-worldness'. This DLC, however, takes even a step further and it definitely felt really oldschool gameplay-wise. As in narrative driven gameplay that allows the plot—instead of the gamplay—expose us to a location, the gameplay getting us through the location and the plot to the next one again. This is how a Mafia is supposed to be. This is how Stones Unturned turned out.

I think I will never finish the main storyline because of this:

Five bloody missions that require me to do the same—causing harvoc and damage—I did already before! Not gonna happen. Sorry, Lincoln, lucky you, Marcano.

So I can't wait for the Sign of the Times DLC.

I have a PS4 Pro and a pretty decent PC (4790k, Asus OC 1070, 16GB Ram), I'd probably be playing at 1440p. BBY has the PS4 Pro version right now for $16 and GMG is $30 I think for game and season pass. Which is the better version of the game now with all the patches released?

You'll get better performance and graphical features out of your PC. That said, the PS4 Pro version is no slouch and you can't go wrong with such a great price.

The PC version has user created mods, for stuff like quick travel which is awesome. The visuals are obviously better.

That said, once you buy the game on PC you are stuck with it forever, and its not a game that there is any reason at all to replay down the road or play more than twice.

I finished and plat'd the game on PS4 Pro, the nice thing was that once I was done I traded in the game and got back $10 or something. No real issues on PS4 Pro, looked and sounded great but obviously only 30 fps. Having to drive from the city to the bayou for random missions was really, really annoying.

I really enjoyed the DLCs and thought they were "meaty", both take you to areas outside new orleans and involve 4-6 hours of gameplay I'd say. There is a third one coming out (this month?) involving voodoo and the swamps I think.

Thanks for the input. I did grab the PS4 version but i might return it and am still leaning toward the PC since it seems that from a performance standpoint it does run better. Plus more than 30fps driving around is huge.
