MAJOR Gran Turismo 5 Rumors (2009 December Release?)

Today in prologue I noticed one cool thing and one lame thing:

On Suzuka at Casino you can hear the cars going up the hill near the start of the lap because it is just over the barrier.

F1 front tires do not give off smoke in cockpit view. The tires do animate locked without ABS but no smoke until replay mode.

What I need to care:

1) Online
2) Destructible cars
3) In cockpit view
4) Car color / graphic editor

Come on Sony you can do it.

1 and 3 are already in prologue so one would assume theyre going to be in the full game too. And I think 2 has been pretty much confirmed. And car colour is already in the game but they give you only the real colours the car comes in stock.

these old tracks should be DLC, if a person has a hard on for these tracks they should be forced to pay for them.

Nurburgring, Complex String and Grindelwald are the only old tracks that should feature on the GT5 Blu-ray - all the others (50+) should be brand new to GT5.

Why would they do that? It'd take even longer for the game to come out.

I am a big fan of PDs original tracks. I cannot pick just one, but no one has given Grand Valley love!

Also like Autum Ring mini. I like when a car can do the ] as a ) under full throttle.

Me too! I love racing the vans and tiny suzukis, it takes more skill to do those well than a Nissan GTR to me.

But Grand Valley better return, I love the setting under the forest canopy and that tricky tiny tunnel.

The Top Gear track will be great for that reason. But before people get too excited, they know that it's a really Mickey Mouse track right? The way they film it on Top Gear makes it look very impressive, but if you see the actual track map it's decidedly uninspiring:

Top_Gear_test_track_map.svg

Er, no. The Top gear test track was designed by Lotus, not some bunch of people with no idea about track deisgn. It may LOOK unassuming but is considered one of the most techincal test tracks in the world, which is why most manufacturers are willing to let their cars unleashed on there, because it is a recognised benchmark.

Put simply, the chance to do a "Stig" on GT5 is too good to miss, frankly.

Here's the "confirmed tracks" list again. All the tracks from GT4, TT and GT5P, as well as tracks seen in the weather menu and tracks announced in other ways (Top Gear for example, and Madrid).

(• means we've had this track in previous games, including Tourist Trophy; ○ means new to Gran Turismo)

54 venues so far, 12 new to the series
72 tracks, including variations

So if the 96 rumor is true, there will be about 25 more in addition to this list.

That's a lot of tracks.

Yeah, Kaz revealed that the Prologue London track was the short version of it in a IGN interview.

IGN: You've got a London track in Prologue that looks absolutely lush. We often fantasise about what course a London GP would take – how did you come up with the layout?

Kazunori Yamauchi: I come to London very often, and I've walked the streets and I know them, so that helped a lot. The course that we have in the game at the moment is actually half the size that we originally thought, it's a short course basically, so in Gran Turismo 5 we'll have the longer course in there.

Wondering is Polyphony has managed to automate the digital recreation of tracks and cars.. These are phenomenal numbers.

I like the idea of cutting and pasting existing tracks together, it keeps open an avenue for DLC

I can't wait for Tokyo Route 246 in GT5, it's one of my favorite tracks.

Also gtplanet posted this about the credibility of the rumor :

Of course, after reading all that, you’re probably wondering who Amar212 is, and how can he be trusted? What makes him different from any other enthusiastic GT fan on the internet? He remains a mysterious figure to the public, but he is a long-time friend of GTPlanet and the administrator of the Croatian website, GT Surgeons. It all started back in July of 2004, when Amar brought us the world’s first video of the Nurburgring Nordschliefe in Gran Turismo 4 - long before anything official had been provided, and six full months before the game was even released! He also got his hands on early copies of Gran Turismo 4 and GT5 Prologue Spec II, and was first to discover the inclusion of the Ferrari F2007 and Ferrari F40 weeks before the game hit any shelves. In other words, this man knows what he’s talking about - get ready for E3 and share your reactions in our Gran Turismo 5 forum!

I don't remember the top track in previous GT games? Features two bridges.

Oh look, it's Tahiti Maze... yet again :(

Just no. El Capitan, Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, Grand Valley, Tokyo, Rome Night. So many other great tracks.

My wife works at the "Le Musee des 24 heures " at Le Mans.
She was in touch with Sony Computer France to have a Logitech driving simulator with "Le circuit de la Sarthe".(And she has succeded !!I've played a build of GT5 prologue with this circuit and all the cars from it.If you want some pics or movies , i can provide ;) ).
To get to the point, she's working to have a rendez-vous with a person from Sony France and Kazunori Yamauchi (who attends the event every year here in Le Mans) at the circuit to have a special game event like last year.
So if all the stars are aligned , i will surely have a lot of informations very very soon :X

Some pics i've taken this week very quickly (I'll make a movie next week) :

It should've improved by now since from what I can tell it isn't up to par with the others courses in Prologue. It seemed like something they tossed together quickly for that event.

I wish Road America or(and) Mid-Ohio were present for the USA tracks... sooo much better than Infineon Raceway.

Yeah, more variety would be nice. Daytona is great, but unless there's a stock car available and 40 cars on the track, it would get boring after a bit. And there needs to be car damage, so I can go NASCAR and punt people into the wall to win. :D

Awesome! I've been wishing to myself for a few weeks now that Sony would have a presence at Sarthe this year and hopefully push to have some sort of GT5 event this year showcase the newest iteration of the game before E3. It sounds like that will happen to some degree.

Additionally, has anyone been keeping tabs on the teams this year? A few weeks ago I read that Pescarolo is going to be fielding a Peugeot 908. Are they also going to field one of their Judd chassis vehicles? I ask because Pescarolo has had a large sponsorship by Sony/Polyphony for quite a few years now, and the factory Peugeot 908's have Xbox 360 logos on their sides. I think that could make for an interesting race if both companies are sponsoring the 908s :lol

Laguna Seca, Indy (both tracks), Daytona, and Infineon is a pretty good mix though. I just wish they would have the Bathurst track. 6.2 km of mountain madness:
A lap around the track. It will never happen, but I can dream. :D

Correct. That track while small, is designed to exploit "core" weaknesses in cars.

I'll be wearing my white racing suit and helmet, listening to code or learning a foreign language, all while saying stuff like "Some say, J-Rzez has 3 legs, and when he sees a pretty lady, one of them gets longer" before the race starts.

Those tracks kicked ass, especially Aria. The narrow streets made for a ridiculous sense of speed.

absolutely. once i discovered those two, my single player career progress came to a permanent halt. all i did was time attack those two. aria for the awesome narrow streets, and capri for the windy mountain roads with awesome views.

i wasnt exaggerating, THIS WILL solidify a purchase of gt5, and a ps3 to play it on, something i wasnt even considering before (though there are definitely other games i would love to play on the system...)

Sure i know this video, i recorded it !! Thanks for the logo ,jeuxvideo.fr :/

The build at the museum has a lot more cars than just the R8.
I will record a movie next week to see if the circuit has been improved at all.

If you can post the names of some of the cars in it we would really love. Info like this is the kind of thing we are missing...

What is the history with those two tracks(aria and amalfi)? They are obviously awesome but how did they get in GT?, and aria in a mercedes commercial on now. Were they raced in group B rally, used in a movie, or just cool roads that PD found like seattle and tokyo r246.

Pretty sure they're in the tokyo, seattle, london category (fictional tracks but on location).

Ah, with everyone talking about them, and I swear seeing the uphill section in commercial a few days ago I would think there would be a cool story unlike the other fictional real road tracks.

...hate me...
Reverse lights!
Better, MUCH better loading times between menus and shit than GT4!
As fun as the first 2 GT games!

And I'm set :D

Needs Bathurst, and some Targa sections. Targa is one of the best road rallies in the world, but probably never heard of, as its all the way down here in Tasmania.

I've never played a GT game (except the GTHD demo on PSN), so quite excited about it. My only concern is that it seems too hardcore... What if I just want to drive nice looking cars and race? I dont know if I want to check the suspension or change racing tires or all those other options... I dont even know what half of them mean!

Does a normal GT game come with a bible sized manual explaining all these things? Or does it have an in-game description system? If not, is there at least a game mode where you can just drive around and race without worrying too much about your tire balance and oil pressure etc?

The way you guys talk... it sounds way too hardcore. How the fuck does it sell so many copies?

You can always play the arcade mode. It's pretty straight forward.

iamcool388 said:

It's pretty much a car fanatics dream game. It was also pretty much the first series to allow people to drive cars that many people own. Before that it was pretty much just Ferrari's, Lamborghini's ect. That played a role in its popularity also.

its really only hardcore if you want it to be. You can just get in a viper and race and do everything fine, but for the people that want to shave 2 seconds off a lap record they have the detailed options. Really, none of the complex features majorly impact the gameplay in a negative way for newcomers or casuals. Besides, there is an arcade mode anyway.
