Guess it's all a preference thing, I think most of the 'before' pics posted in this thread look more attractive than the caked-on pictures posted.

I don't wear makeup. In the past, I used to wear it for special occasions like weddings or dances, but it made my face itch for some reason. So, I think that I'm allergic to it.

I hate makeup. I hate how women have to be fake to be deemed attractive/acceptable. It's fucked up. I feel bad for some of the girls I know who say they have to wear makeup to feel normal, like they can't go outside without it. They put on 'the works' like the foundation, eye liner, shadow, mascara, blusher, but when I see them up close it just looks gross. I don't want to touch their face in any way. If we hug, I get a load of powder on my shoulder and they're conscious of this every time. It's awkward.

My girlfriend doesn't wear any makeup, only moisturizer. Her complexion isn't the best, but she's one of the only girls I've met who isn't self conscious about her image. That's way more attractive to me than seeing a girl wearing makeup looking incredibly hot. All I can think is 'What does she look like without makeup?'. Every time. It's not like I wouldn't date someone for wearing makeup, but I'm always looking for it, especially in the girls that look more natural, I don't want to be fooled.

Hear, hear.

Meanwhile, guys aren't judged or considered weird for not wearing makeup. It's a beauty obsessed culture we're living in, and dare I say, one which is making the lives of women so much harder than men.

I'll be honest, most girls I know look somewhere between really plain and frumpy without any make-up on at all.

I think part of that is that I'm so conditioned to seeing girls with at least some bare minimum of make-up that a girl being completely natural ends up feeling like a stark contrast.

To be honest with you, I feel the same way.
It is that conditioning though, how can one be expected to feel any other way when society pushes for makeup so much?

It does also not help that alot of non-makeup pics is of ladies who have just woken up (See: Katy Perry) and not done all the stuff that can be done without resorting to make up (washing, scrubbing, moisturizing, eye drops, combing, hair styling, etc).

the solution to this is obviously that boys should be wearing make up too

Subtle makeup is best on girls. Heavier makeup can look good sometimes but it seems to be easy to overdo unless you're really experienced. Obligatory:

The artist moved the 3rd girl's mouth up to turn it into a huge frown, and he changed her eyes so that she's squinting...

Just saw this and thought it might be relevant to the discussion about how men really feel about the "no makeup" look:

(Possibly NSFW, link is full of pictures of porn stars before/after makeup. They are in various states of dress, no nudes but some underwear shots)

Some of them are still quite attractive without make up. The others are broke as fuck. There is no in-between.

Go back and look at the before/after pics in this thread. Here:

See how much bigger their eyes look with makeup on? These women are wearing a ton of eyeliner. (The top one has eyeliner all around, I think.) Then they put on eyeshadow to further expand the apparent space, fake eyelashes, concealer to clean up the bags. That's what the artist is trying to show. The eyes in the third picture are the way eyes look when not accompanied by a bunch of optical illusion. (And Photoshop!)

Similarly, notice the difference in the lips. That's not just lipstick, it's lip liner and maybe even lip plumper. In case you didn't notice, the woman is frowning in all three pictures! The increased lip body just makes it less obvious. That's kind of the point of the picture: when women don't wear makeup, if you're not used to it, it does look like they're frowning and squinting.

Lima is a goddess no matter what
Lima is modelesque by a huge margin with no help. She simply doesn't have the exotic look which is required for the business. For people who have excellent genetics such as that, makeup only tends to make things worse. There's nothing to enhance - only pristine features to bury under foundation.

EDIT: She still waxes her eyebrows either way, though. Cheater cheater pumpkin eater.

I actually opened the comic in an editor superimposed the portraits. Yes, there's a sort of mild frowning in all of them, but they actually did move her mouth upwards for the last one. The parting of her mouth was moved all the way to where the top of her lips ended in the previous portraits.

As for your first photograph, I remember seeing that first photo and instantly dismissing it because the wall had changed colour. If they cannot control for lighting, they're not worth even considering.

I just feel that a lot of these comparisons are pretty poorly done.

I say she's wearing eyeliner, lipstick and that stuff girls wear to make their lashes look fuller in that first pic.

Lash-O Big-O or whatever it's called.

I guess not everyone has figured out how much lighting plays a part.

It's monumental, folks. Ask a director of photography.

Seriously... these comparisons are worthless when professional lighting, make up, and retouching come to play.
You can look like total shit when you're not even expecting people to take pictures of you.

I look terrible without makeup. I have really bad skin, sunken in eyes, round face, and no eyelashes. I need a little help. In most casual settings outside of my apartment, I don't leave without makeup on.

Upon closer inspection: you're probably right. But that's still not much. I feel eyeliner is cheating pretty hard too, as it makes the eyes look considerably different.

You can't fake good genetics though. It's pretty obvious who has those, and makeup doesn't really close the gap.

Looks pretty good either way.

Oh lawd.

A few of them look better without makeup (like Charmane Star) but for the others, I'm sure glad that makeup is an option.

Some people do look fine without makeup. But, I do think the majority of people simply look better with some make up on. It just enhances certain features. For me, the biggest and best thing is skin tone evenness. Second is in defining the eyes.. even if it's just a thin layer of eyeliner.. I think lashes can have a big impact as well. Visible lashes are nice thing.

I'll go out to the grocery store without makeup but other than that it's going on. It's actually kind of fun sometimes. My usual routine is just foundation, a bit of eyebrow powder, mascara, eyeliner, and sometimes brown eye shadow.

I really like false lashes (not of the Nicki Minaj variety) but I'm too lazy to use them.

I actually never knew fake eyelashes were a thing until recently. Thankfully all I need is a good mascara and my lashes are fine :B...

HA! That ship has sailed. Plus: you like Final Fantasy. I don't think Kohl eyeliner is a stretch.

The ship full of eyeliners has sailed, yes, but the one full of perfumes is still aboard. Eventually both will collide with destiny at some point.

In all seriousness...
  • Haircut: shortening, fringe and low lighting.
  • Make-up: Kohl eyeliner and Gloss.
  • Eyes: chocolate brown lens.
  • Eyebrows plugged.
  • Fake chest.
  • Glasses.
...and I would be (more than an) insid(h)er.

It can help ugly people look presentable, but I really prefer good looking, fresh-faced people to go without it. Especially the eyeliner. Any amount of it.

People are generally pretty ugly though, so I guess I'm glad it exists

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
I prefer little to no makeup. If anyone in here does wear makeup everyday, how long does it take you in the morning?

A couple of minutes for normal 'day' face, though I usually let my moisturiser sink in for 10 mins or so before putting on foundation. For going out, 20 mins probably.

There are some, a lot of people who confess to "not liking makeup" have posted women utilizing it however.

My partner is someone who legitimately doesn't like make up at all, even light make up such as lipgloss, mascara or foundation. I'm not great at doing my own makeup anyway so it kinda works out. I would like to be able to get the smokey eye look happening though, just for special occasions.

How about something soft? Or something that shimmers?

I prefer women without makeup. I suppose it's not too bad if it's subtle.

I never understand why some women absolutely cover themselves in it. It just looks gross.

I often wonder how many women who "age poorly" are not suddenly afflicted by bad genetics but simply are women who stop wearing much make up once they've caught their fish and aren't as concerned about luring more fish in.

I like makeup. Both on women and on myself to an extent.
Women don't exist for the purpose of pleasing me with their looks, so I don't have an opinion of "Ugh. women shouldn't wear makeup" or "Yeah, women should all wear makeup!" Some women look great without makeup and don't need it, some look great with it and do need it, some look great no matter what, some look bad with or without. But it's whatever. Wear what you want.
I like women who don't wear makeup, I like the 'minimal' look, I like the 'heavy' makeup look, and sometimes I like the 'super-heavy, trashy stripper' look.

My wife doesn't wear any and hasn't ever worn any. I've asked her about it before and she prefers to not wear it. I've asked her if she would think about wearing some on occasion, because sometimes I feel like some eyeliner and mascara would enhance her eyes. But she doesn't ever want to and I am cool with that because I think she is beautiful no matter what.

There was a period of time when I wore makeup. In the beginning when I didn't know what I was doing, I would just buy an eyebrow pencil and use it like eyeliner below and above my eyelid. Not thick 'black-metal' style, but just a thin line around my eyes. Then there was a guy in my squadron in Korea who lived in my dorms that showed me how to apply mascara and eyeliner; he did drama in school and did makeup for people before productions. I'd say I wore that for maybe a year and a half total?
I'd get some strange looks from people on base or out at the clubs but it didn't bother me. I am of the opinion (and I have been told before) that I have really nice eyes. So I would apply the mascara and eyeliner, look in the mirror and think "I'm an ugly dude but man does that make my eyes fucking pop. Those are some goddamn handsome eyes right there," and then I would roll out. Eh, maybe I didn't look good, but I didn't really care. I liked the way I looked with it and actually liking the way I looked made me feel better.

I think about starting again every now and then, but my wife tells me she doesn't like the idea of it. She also freaks out whenever I tell her that I want to go get my ears pierced too though. Guys aren't "supposed" to do either of those things apparently. So I just let it drop.
