And wow, surprised to see my first name pop up in a manga series. Kubo better deliver the goods next week, I want more cool action shots of Ichigo and that fullbring!
Jackie?

I think you missed the rich subtext of Ichigo having to battle a female version of Chad.

People probably shouldn't assume that there even will be a "final arc villian" or that it will end up being defeated by Luffy/Zoro. There hasn't been an arc like that since Thriller Bark.

The strawhats also haven't been together for a major arc since Thriller Bark. I would think their first one back together needs some kind of arc villain even if he/she isn't super intimidating.

Bleach

I really liked this chapter. I am very suspect on Ginjou's story about Aizen 3. I don't know if he's just flat out lying or omitting some of the truth. Tsukishima has become even more of an enigma through this story and we don't even know what his real goals are. He might be the villain of this arc...but then its hard to tell.

Overall, I like where this is headed. Kubo's making the story interesting without the inclusion of soul society (although I believe they will cross eventually), and that's what I wanted. I also like that the manager told Ichigo he should listen to adults (which he should try to do) and then he sees Isshin and Urahara conspiring and trying to avoid him.

Speaking of that, besides the last panel of Ichigo with his Fullbring, I liked the re-introduction of Urahara and Isshin in this chapter the most. That, and that Ichigo finally started to fucking consider the fact that Urahara (and his dad) might not be the friends he blindly considers them to be. Knowing that they are definitely up to something brings more questions and I want to know what they're up to and talking about for sure.

Ginjou is fucking suspect, though. That's for sure. I'm looking forward to Ichigo's Fullbring evolving next week.

Now to wait for Naruto
with low expectations
.

Edit: And that shirt that Ichigo has with the heart on it looks awesome. Or maybe Kubo just drew it well.

Yeah I'm sure it will be the squid or octo swordsman mercenary for Zoro and some bigger guy pulling the strings for Luffy. Perhaps Jinbei will know who this person is.

Arlong with Devil Fruit & Haki. Luffy's kick unlocked it. Calling it.

I think one may be falling victim to over thinking too much. I think they are still his father and friend, no matter how sneaky it seems. Its not like Urahara is ever doing anything in a straight forward non questionable manner. If there is some tie to the the soul society Kisuke probably knows and maybe relaying information via Yoruichi as usual...thats my speculation. Tsukishima has probably been watched by both Soul Reapers and them///

I think its both, Kubo draws Ichigo excellent and also gives him awesome clothes and poses. In reading, I think this is the best one this chapter, I cant get enough.

That was neat, I love it when mangaka do things like this and this one goes into a lot of detail. Do you know when the next part is?
As far as I know it does not exist, and due to the poor performance of the anime, it may never exist.

Speaking of which, the Volume 10 and 8 Omake scripts have been finalized and will be coming soon. Special thanks to the amazing Finestela for translating so swiftly after her recovery from being doused in Liquid Nitrogen (don't ask).

Finestela is a PhD researcher, a mother, and a fluent translator of three languages. She works for the largest Chinese scanlation group, JoJoHot, and she also freelances for various English groups.

During a lab session one of her graduate students accidentally poured liquid nitrogen on her. She was hospitalized, obviously. The cast only just came off.

She is also just a super cool person and really nice. Big fan of TWGOK.

Whoa that must have been scary as hell.

Cool to hear about the recovery.

Popcorn Avatar

Started reading this. Pretty fun. It's a battle shounen with a dude that gets wind powers from a psychotic genki girl that's actually a Hindu/Buddhist goddess. Then they go to school together for all kinds of hijinks. Only 6 chapters so far, but the protagonist went from completely unlikable to tolerable in record time.

Did Bleach get a new editor in the last year? Overall, I think he's been doing a good job. The manga is still molasses, but at least it's interesting.

Honestly, I think his decision to take it away from all of the SS/Hollow stuff for a while in this arc did him good. The story is very interesting again. I know that Kubo said somewhere that he planned for the Arrancar arc to be shorter than it ended up being but SJ wanted it to be longer (due to popularity of certain characters I believe - probably Grimmjow/Ulquiorra...japanese fanbase, heh).

Currently only on chapter 25 of TWGOK. Will continue reading tomorrow. This Manga reading app on my iPad is gonna allow me to catch up on TWGOK and Beelzebub a lot faster and easier than if I marathon'd them elsewhere.

Bleach
Amazing chapter. A lot of things to consider.
At first it looked like the shinigami who the previous Fullbringers gave their powers to looked like Isshin. I thought it was Isshin for a second.
Ikumi´s husband might be the dead shinigami, or Tsukishima. She is connected to the story somehow and that is how i think, might be the connection.
I don´t believe Ginjou at all.
Ichigo´s appearance at Ikumi´s house, and Ikumi telling him to trust adults, means that Ichigo has lost trust to many people.
I was surprised that Ichigo considered Urahara to be the enemy and did not follow him. Especially when Isshin was there. It is not like Isshin will let Urahara attack Ichigo. That showed does not trust Isshin either.

Hidan no Aria:

Bad.

Strobe Edge:

Not for me.

Houkago Play:

Bad.

Umi no Misaki:

Boring. Wonder if it gets any better past the first few chapters.

Dollgun:

wtf is up with her legs

Hozuki-san Chi no Aneki:

Better than Houkago Play, which isn't saying much.

Nope. If anything, it gets worse. The island people get super annoying with their exclusionary attitude. I wish the main dude would just say "fuck destiny" and go back to Tokyo, thus pissing off every single one of those douchebags. Of course he does kind of get his own harem, so he does have some incentive to stay. Still annoying.

Glad I stopped there, then.

Isn't that the point of what is being talked about here. These guys should not have been seen as "random fishmen." If they were seen as big bad guys like previous villains in arcs, and then Luffy and Zoro one shotted them, it would have a bigger effect and show off their training more. If they were a lot more respected by the audience and had more credentials as villains, we would be ready to believe and start to see the differences in strength.

I also agree with your assessment on this arc, but I think that Hodi and VDD would have been better off getting more development as big bad villains (if they are going to be the villains) to show the difference in strength. However, if someone new shows up, I won't be surprised either. Oda can go a couple of routes from here.

Like I mentioned earlier, I believe Oda didn't over hype these guys because he didn't want the audience to be disappointed when Luffy and co beats them without putting in their usual amount of effort. Plus he has to "save" his regular type of build up for the serious fights we'll be getting once the Straw Hats have shown off their new abilities. Let's not forget that Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro have trained with three of the strongest characters in the world of One Piece. It's going to take way more than the "usual" One Piece villain hype for any villain not in or affiliated with someone in the Ace rescue arc.

That being said I don't think Oda did a bad job hyping up Hodi and Decken. Decken especially, as he had plenty of strong hype from most people before this chapter (I think only maybe one or two people in this thread mentioned the possibility of him getting one shotted out of the air). And Hodi himself would have been fine if Oda hadn't connected him to Arlong (which is what made most of us doubt his strength). If say Hodi was hyped as a former second in command to Jinbei for example, I think that would have helped him much more. Anyway it's too early to be talking about these guys like the entire arc is over. Until we see how significant the steroid power up is for Hodi and his friends in relation to the Straw Hats, there's no reason for anyone to want a stronger villain for this arc (not to mention that we already have more loose ends to tie up, like the prediction of doom for Fishman Island and the mermaid kidnappings).

Abstraction

The acid trip to end all acid trips. Holy fuck.

I always get annoyed by people saying "this was definitely made on drugs". People can be creative as hell on their own. I didn't bat an eye when the Katamari Damacy guy said he doesn't do drugs or even drink. It's something in the realm of reasonable human thought.

THIS on the other hand is NOT something I can see anyone creating unless he/she is on some kind of hard drug or is beyond batshit insane. It's amazing.

Being disappointed that these guys got one-shotted is like being disappointed that Mrs Valentine and Mr. 5 got one shotted in the Baroque Works saga. There is obviously going to be a lot more to this arc.

Naruto is out.

Did we ever get much characterization of Hanzo before? I feel like this contradicts his previous image, though given how Kishi's been handling things that doesn't come as a big surprise.

Also, I'm sick and tired of the plot device of having sentimental feelings get in the way of attacking former allies. Such a cheap way to prolong a fight.

Naruto
Is still don't fully understand the resurrection technique. Did the Hanzou revived corpse also had the black salamander implanted in it? Will Itachi have sharingan whenever he shows up?

One Piece

Great chapter, Zoro and Luffy showing off their bad assness. My theory on Jimbe's warning is that the guys under Hodi are actually more dangerous, stronger and maybe even a little crazy. I'm thinking Hodi somehow has these guys subdued or in some way following him and Jimbe's warning is so those guys stay at bay, and maybe if Hodi is defeated easily it will unleash these guys and will be dangerous for FI and maybe they want do destroy it, and that would fill the prediction of Luffy causing it.

I know I'm most likely completely wrong, I never get predictions right, but I like to theorize.

Bleach

I actually thought this chapter was great. I like that it looks like it will speed up Ichigo getting his powers back. He looks to be getting impatient and it seems Kubo is realizing the readers are too.

Bleach.

For a moment, I thought that that first shinigami representative was Aizen.

Naruto.

wtf, Kishi? Where's my Hanzo epic fight?

Naruto

Yep just like the spoilers said a zombie commited senpukku.
rofl.gif

Why did he do it though, all he had to do was stand still and let Mifune seal him, such a silly scene.

And ugh at Choji, his dad should have been perma dead in the pain invasion to make him grow some balls, I can't believe a timeskip and 2 tragic events didn't harden him up in the slightest.

Bleach
So ichigo believe any random guy he just met about urahra being his enemy

Naruto

Huh…zombies are effect by poison? loong boring speech between fodder going on about lose of faith something.

Seems like kish really wants to drag out this skirmish by having any random none character spend like 2 or 3 chapters talk fighting.

Ichigo is always impatient. I wish it wouldnt have gone so fast kind of. We could have had more time with them at school, and gotten Keigo Asano involved in the story!

It actually surprised me that there wasn't more of that. Especcially with the characters showing up at the end of the last arc. But honestly I was never really interested in any of those characters, I doubt I could name a single character from the school. :lol

Because he knew he'd get taken over by the spell and become a "mindless" zombie - he was after all disobeying orders so he might not have been able to disobey them long enough to be sealed.

Instead he just disobeyed the orders for a split second so that he could paralyse himself long enough to be sealed even if his mind was later purged.

Bleach

Good chapter. I thought it was paced really well. There was a steady flow of information and it feels like the plot is picking up again. More chapters should be like this.

Naruto

I liked it, even though I don't know who these characters are. Chouji is a jackass though. When the hell is Naruto going to come back?
