There was a whole multiplayer fps bit in Beezlebub, SD also has the love comedy and its not really the content of the comedy but how it is delivered.

I think the content of the comedy should matter allot .
When you read Beezlebub you can get most of the Jokes from the manga it's self .
For SD and Gintama if don't have certain knowledge about things or don't do certain things the jokes go right over your head .

Still i guess will read more SD after the anime ends to understand what you are saying about how the comedy is delivered.

finally some discussion on the "real" big three.

Sket Dance is great but sometimes they drag on with the boke and tsukkomi routine (I think that's what it's called) too long. It's funny but the author tends to overuse it.

Beelzebub...is just fucking awesome.

It's used alot in Beelzebub too, Furuichi is a walking tsukkomi.

Soul Eater 89

I really loved the interaction between the characters. Havar has said a very insightful and intelligent thing. The plot is moving very nicely. And character development of Kid makes me glad.

Beelzebub:

But that should not matter because beelzebubs is not a comedy manga , it has some jokes like most shonen battle manga and that is all.
No one would call Bleach , FMA , Naruto comedy or care if there jokes are consistent because that's not the main part of the manga .

In fact i would say beelzbubs has nothing in common with SD at all .
SD is more like Gintama without it's awesome battle arcs and cool chars .

I did it was kreed that said if you like comedy parts of beelzebub you would like SD.
I just quoted his second post and yours to save time since the comedy part of beelzebub should not get compare to SD when it comes to consistent.
One is a battle manga the other is a comedy manga .

I couldn't disagree more with these two posts. Naruto, Bleach, and Full Metal Alchemist are not comparable to Beelzebub when it comes to comedy vs action. It's a totally different balance.

Naruto, Bleach, and FMA are battle Shounen mangas with "some" humor/jokes mixed in every couple of chapters. Beelzebub is an action & comedy manga and it shows because EVERY CHAPTER of Beelzebub has comedy/jokes in it, with many chapters being nothing but jokes and little to no serious action/plot progression in them at all. You could compare One Piece and Toriko to Beelzebub but even then Beelzebub relies way more on comedy than those two mangas. If anything Beelzebub is more like Gintama than Sket Dance is since both have action/comedy aspects, except Beelzebub relies on action more than Gintama does.

Regardless, the main reason I compared them is because Beelzebub is a manga that relies on comedy and I wanted to make some comparisons for my recommendation to Smiles and Cries to read Sket Dance. Unless you guys want to recommend that Smiles and Cries NOT read Sket Dance, I don't see a reason to argue over this.

Nurarihyon no Mago

The author exposed Nura's identity pretty fast, Now everyone knows about him and the Yokai.

Shit is getting hectic.

I just don't think if you like beelzebub comedy you would like SD .
Then again i also fail to notice how they alike so it could just be me .

Thank goodness Natsu didn't win. I'm actually, genuinely curious as to what is going to happen now. Luxus is out, Natsu is out, Super S Rank dude with an arm and leg missing is out, so... that leaves the ex-evil dude wandering around the island?

Also, with the eye thing, it's almost like an issue of Naruto. hahahaha

Fairy Tail - 246

It's back, it's predictable, it's all according to keikaku? ¬_¬

Steroyd 2 weeks ago said:
To "mix it up" I can see Mashima not having Natsu deliver the finishing blow, but Cana with that fairy glitter she obtained, which will be even more rage inducing than the latest chapter.

Oh god, please don't let my prediction be true. Please please please.

You mean, liking Beelzebub comedy won't tell whether a person will like SD comedy... right?

Because I love both Beelzebub and SD comedy. Many many people do.

Fairy Tail

I would have liked it more if Natsu immediately did his big roar without all the silly bloat around it. The author already did "barrage of attacks with many !!!'s -> smoke -> unscathed", in this damn battle even, so why do it again.

How can you even expect it to not be true? As amusing as it'd be, there's no way Mashima would introduce Fairy Glitter only for it to fail in a pathetic way. It'll be either that or it will give Natsu his power up of the arc =/

Shingeki no Kyojin

The titans still terrify me. Most evil and disturbing creatures I've seen in awhile and this new variant is still terrifying.

In regards to Shingeki, I guess we gained a lot from this latest release, given that now GWR decided to start doing magazine scans as well as volume releases.

Sket Dance 72

So, DB, Toriko, Bakuman, and Gintama references in less than 5 pages. Did I miss any? Poor, poor, poor Shinzou, he's gonna be traumatized for sure XD

A Town Where you Live 4
I hate Haruto already. An indecisive, spineless little dweeb who does nothing but cause trouble for himself with his poor decision making. The Schadenfreude is wonderful though.

How long until you start calling it a A Town Where you Rage?

Rage would require me to sympathise with the main character, or at least want him to be happy. I'm perfectly content watching him suffer.

A Town Where you Live 19

Haruto and Yuzuki met in the past? I definitely didn't see that coming from the first chapter. ¬.¬

Haruto getting friend-zoned immediately after deciding to wimp out of his confession was delicious. Serves him right for being so pathetically non-confrontational.

That'd be better than having a fourth or fifth straight arc with a Natsu random powerup beating the main villain, honestly...

Also, yeah, this was a very Fairy Tail chapter. It was interesting to see that Natsu's Laxus-charged attack actually didn't work, though, so this fight isn't over yet... I wonder how they will manage to beat him.

The part with the cats in the ventilation duct was funny... "why are we in this thing?" "Oh no reason." :lol

Also, an actual Lucy pantyshot... despite her short skirts, that's quite uncommon.

It's the only way he can think of to show off how powerful Hades is, pretty much, I think.

BS power up #534 has failed. Now we await next chapter for another BS power up to save the day.
Yeah, probably. Remember back in the early few arcs of the series, before Natsu always beat the main villains? I doubt that will return anytime soon, unfortunately... but who knows, Natsu random powerup usually works in this series and it didn't sometime, so I assume that it'll either be the suggestion above, or yet another random Natsu powerup.

Too bad its given to a character that didn't deserve it and couldn't even actually fucking use it. Well at least Hades hasn't gone down yet.

Wouldn't be surprised it was given to Natsu similarily to how he got from Laxus. lol

I never liked Haruto, but his actions and the consequences ... Well, you'll definitely rage. Sometimes I even screamed things like "what the fuck are you doing, you pathetic POS!", it was that bad. Still, couldn't stop reading :lol

Law of Ueki Plus

Good finale. Even if it was rushed, I wasn't disappointed at all. Really wish the series was longer, but the insanity never let up. Wish a few more things were explained like why Ueki was the only guy in the world that kept his memories, but I'm satisfied.

Guess I have to read this guy's next work which is about...ping pong? Damn...

Fairy Tail

So what happens now that Natsu's tried and true strategy of "Eat something -> Power up -> Win Fight" has failed?

Oh wait, He could always eat Fairy Glitter...

nub question: what is the function of the word/thing "no" in japanese?

everything is "this NO that" or "blah NO chimichimi" or whatever..

does it have a linguistic equivalent in english?

It's a lot wackier and nonsensical than Ueki, but the ping pong techniques, for how insane they are, are still sort of strategical.

"of", I believe.
More or less; in general I guess you can think of it like the possessive case. If you translate it using "of" you need to switch the positions of the nouns it's modifying. For example, using the series just being discussed, the Japanese title for "The Law of Ueki" is "Ueki no Hōsoku".
A longer example would be the film "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" which is, in the original Japanese, "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä". Where of course "kaze" means wind and "tani" means valley.

I think that's accurate, at least. I'm no language scholar.

fake edit: Or I can just shut up and let Wikipedia do the work for me.

A Town Where You... 25

Rage! I actually uttered a "What's wrong with you?!" at the end of this chapter. Haruto is a complete moron. He's constantly being toyed with and totally passive. This right here sums up everything I hate about him:
24y2r2h.jpg

He's totally incapable of making a real decision; in fact, he'd much rather actively stand in the way of his own goals. I hope there's a chapter where some just viciously beats him up and it's played for comedy.

Told you so! :lol

But it gets better, I promise. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Nanami: "Take Me To Bed, Or Lose Me Forever!"

Haruto: "Umm... Oh no! Yuzuki scratched her knee falling off her bike, I have to help her!"

I can't wait.

Are you prepared to experience (or re-experience?) the rage in animated form, gentlemen? I think once was enough for me.

Edit: false alarm it seems but the thought was glorious.

Stat Flow said:
The rage comes simply from the characters being idiots? Or is there more?
I don't think "characters being idiots" is enough to describe what's oning on in this manga. It's more like they're fucking morons and one of them is so trollish, she could be Aizen's wife.

But it's still SO GOOD in a weird, masochistic way.

Fuck yes, Legend of Koizumi is back.

The first chapter was chapter was kind of meh, but I'm sure they are just starting to get the ball rolling. On the plus side it did have Somalian Luffy.

Glad you like it :)

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro 55
Mmmh ? Is this a subversion of the typical shonen protagonist ?
Neuro weakening as the series goes...

Bakuman 1 to 115
Walls of text full force. Sometimes I just skipped entire pages.
It's interesting to have an (fictionnal) insight on how the whole manga business works. I thought the plot would run out of ideas after some time, but that's not the case.
The drawings are good, the characters are appealing, and some of the manga ideas seem way too good to not have their own series (PCP is like the best name ever :b)

at first glance, i thought that was another manga barack obama.

I hope I'm still alive in 50 years when we get the Naoki Urasawa style adaptation of one piece.

I always wondered if Oda would somehow throw in Somalian pirate references into One Piece. This is close enough.

A Town Where You Live isn't awful in the characters or anything like that. It's the total nose dive the plot takes.

The characters, situations, whatever are pretty typical ecchi romance shit. Things don't turn bad until.. actually I don't even remember. Pretty sure it's beyond chapter 100 though.

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan vol 6

I have no idea why I dropped this. I don't even remember the plot and I barely remember the character names now, but whatever. It's still entertaining to a point. I don't even know how they got enough plot for 23 volumes, but it seems like not much will happen regarding the development of the main characters,

Attack no.1 (bunko) volume 3-4

Volume 3, with the training for the national games was pretty good and exciting, and the training, although hard and harsh, almost felt too light compared to what I remembered from the anime version.

Then I read volume 4 and I was reminded that Japan loved to abuse schoolboys and schoolgirls when it comes to sport manga.
The new high school coach that came toward the end of the volume has no qualms throwing balls to the face of the girls breaking their noses, hitting them on the face with a good old fashioned bitchslap for missing a ball, have them on their knees begging for forgiveness for daring to talk back and shit, yet the characters watching say stuff like "seeing them go through such a harsh training and the coach being so mean, my fighting spirit is re-ignited and I feel like getting back to playing volleyball!". Good for you girls, I guess!
