Well the theme of the manga is based on misunderstandings.

That's like the theme of the genre, lol. Still, it's a genre I love to death far too much to be normal~

So the events are always suspected but this chapter really got you drawn into one side of it forgetting the other half. Maybe it was just me but near the end of the chapter I basically forgot about Asaka and what she was doing. Or I'm just used to manga ending on some heart-warming note and then the next chapter is about what Asaka was doing. But for the ending to get totally screwed over by just showing a forced make-out on Meiko on the opposing roof? That's the kind of stuff that I find entertaining.

True; it does really just kind of tossed her to the side after the setup. I actually liked Asaka, though I was hoping for harem get rather than her being after the friend, so her situation was something I kept in mind when I read it.

And to say I expected "that" in particular is a bit off but more of a general, "So, how's thing going to end up being ruined?" being in the back of my mind for the chapter. I really more expected it to wear off mid-Akino's "confession" so he didn't get to hear what she said anyway (and, thus, leaving actual Kouta with Meiko in a compromising way) instead of her showing up to ruin it all.

Yeah, I've been reading Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru (talk about a mouth full) for a while now. Although I'm thinking of letting the chapters pile up for a bit so as not get cockteased by half-finished/cliffhanger tournament fight chapters.

How are you liking it so far? I kinda want it to go back to the various martial arts clubs on campus having beef with their tiny little club. That's when it was most fun for me to read. Although Kohinata's, relatively, recent fight with Ibuki was pretty cool.

For having such a ridiculously long name it's surprisingly easy to find. There don't seem to be many manga with "Karate" in the name.
I wrote a big post about it last week but looks like it was ignored again :(

It was fun in the beginning too but I definitely like it more now (significantly more). The fights are crazy and I love 'em. They're really short and conclusive too so there's no real point to letting them pile up.

I can count the "serious" fights in the series in both hands but they're all really awesome. Aside from those moments was a mix of castbuilding and standard sports sheningans which wasn't all that special. That's why I like it a lot more now that those fights became more common.

Well, I say that under the assumption that certain upcoming fights might end up being like the Ibuki fight and being a couple chapters long each. Although I guess there is chance that Mutou will just steamroll through his two "big" fights seeing as how he is a damn monster.

I don't check the thread all the time and must have missed your previous post. :(

I do like where it's at now, but I guess I just like the idea of seeing two different martial arts go up against other, kind of like Holyland, more. Although with the way things seem to be going I don't think I'll have to wait very long to see a fight like that.

Is it just me or does the author seem to be drawing the bodies separate from the heads? It almost seems like he only knows how to draw one type of muscular body lol.

Odd to say it like this but I found the Karate-only fights to be more similar to the Holyland style than the mixed fights (completely counter-intuitive but that's how I saw it). There aren't a lot of mixed fights to compare to though. And in any case, neither type has the amount of battle narrative Holyland does.

I noticed that all the bodies are the same! I really like how he draws the karate clothes though. Even during action scenes they look really good.

hmph hmph!

Boku wa Tomodachi something something 1-5

Hilarious. Surprisingly Meat is weaker than Yozora but I expect that to change at one point.

Kumagawa dead?!!!

...

I'm not okay with this.
I don't think even they'd get away with offing him for serious without an ending in sight or without massive balls.

Out of curiosity, what made you decide to turn into a walking Medaka Box spoiler factory for the last several weeks? No one was really even giving the series the time of day up until then... well, at least not spoiler-wise.

Because they finally finished the last arc, which was boring, and the new one is interesting again.

That, and it's probably the only SJ series I even care about right now.

To a degree. Countrouble is a bit unique though with its use of magic and the associated "twists." Other shounen romcom usually let random events, mostly accidents, dictate misunderstandings. It's very trope. Countrouble brings a bit of physiological aspects into the twists causing unexpected results. Iris Zero is another manga that uses mind games. They give the reader the chance to predict or even solve misunderstandings.

Tasogare Otome is also part of this bunch but is a suspense work. These shounen works kind of bring out mind-fuck aspects of seinen like NHK or Death Note. But they are still centered around comedy and romance. It makes them arguably the better shounen series in print right now IMO.

However, I'm not sure if I'm making sense cause I'm exhausted.

Yep. Nothing beats the comedy that comes from the group doing activities together. You already saw one of my favorites with the early
PSP gaming and team killing
. You have to get a bit further.

Ha ha,
I also thought the spinning elbow finisher was hype.
Yeah, the fights definitely aren't as technical as Holyland, but it's still, relatively, grounded in realism. I agree that the more recent Karate fights, especially the one with Ibuki, have been more technical than the past fights. I say relatively because things get a bit wonky with body building old karate master and the guy on PCP, but only a bit.

Rape scenes make me really uncomfortable in any medium
. If that's a sign of things to come...well I don't really want any part of it.

That's the only scene like that in the entire manga though.
Arguably

What other scene though? The only one could be a possible candidate was when she basically "imprisoned" him for a while..

I just looked at the chapter El Sloth was talking about. Seemed a bit tamed to me, but dunno I did skim all the text.

I do need to read the manga at one point though. Looks fun.

It's a bit unique in that regard, yeah, but a lot of the genre does just come down to "something happens, plot prolongs!" Not enough to be a complete blanket statement but enough so that it's my expected norm. Not that I necessarily have a problem with it to a point but sometimes it just causes things to drag on for far too long.

It is interesting for Countrouble since we're basically told up front that there's a guaranteed plot moving device going to happen ... and then it somehow gets turned around; kind of fun to see how it fails. I will admit that I'm not sure how much I'll like watching them fail some 30 or more chapters, though, y'know?

Iris Zero is great, though; kind of sad that it's not gotten as much attention as I think it deserves and also a bit sad that I came into it so early in it's lifespan so I have very little of it to read :(

I've never even heard of this before right now and now I'm intrigued so ... thanks~

That one, mostly in a "does this remind you of anything?" way (I'd link to TVtropes but I'm already procastinating a lot >.>), which is why I wrote "arguably".

Shirley

Good stuff. I was expecting this to just be some prototype to Emma, but it definitely has an identity of its own.

Karakuri Odette

Well that was inoffensive enough to get me to read the whole thing, but it wasn't particularly good. I liked the robo girl, she reminds me of Sumire from Sumire 16, but it's pretty lame when a shoujo doesn't resolve the romance. Then again I'm not sure how they would even go any farther with that relationship.

This series damn, this chapter was pretty funny,

The last part was cool and nice seeing that person again.

Should be an interesting meeting.

Yea possible YMMV on that.

For a second there it sounded like he was going to talk about anime sales.

I'm about ready to drop Medaka Box at this point. It's starting to go down a path I don't really care for with the whole Medaka vs. Zenkichi bullshit.

Oh, and LOL at the spoilers. He's about to off half the manga's fanbase if the last character poll is anything to go by.

Naruto

Oonoki uses his technique to reduce the weight of the meteor in an attempt to throw it off course. Spoiler provider doesn't make it clear whether or not this succeeds or not.

Seems that Madara really did survive his fight with Hashirama, and did indeed take a portion of his genetic material. He uses Mokuton Ninjutsu to create a forest.

Madara attempts to summon the Kyuubi, but it resists, choosing to give more of it's chakra to Naruto instead. Naruto then uses his Tajyuu Kage Bunshin + Chou Oodama Rasengan(EDIT: Chou Oodama Rasentarengan) to obliterate Madara's Mokuton.

Oonoki's badly wounded, and decides to put his life on the line.

Strike that, the 2ch spoiler providers somehow got their hands on some just now. There must still be a few stores somewhere that aren't affected.

I still wouldn't expect actual scanlations until tomorrow.

At your best estimate, is the current situation one with long-term repercussions or just a one-time thing?
