The Naruto's (the manga) biggest problem and the point that it really went off the rails was when they started using Chakra as the equivalent of power levels and started treating it like DBZ does. It was about techniques and their applications in battle with a little bit of power-mongering but it basically was what you would want from Ninjas fighting each other.

It's funny actually, Part 1 Naruto is akin to the first half of Dragon Ball up until Piccolo Jr whereas Part 2 Naruto is basically DBZ. Part 2 Naruto is full of goddamn Super Saiyans.

Kishimoto came up with amazing characters and a really cool world. He just needed a goddamn writer to keep him in check. It feels like both Tite and Kishimoto are like Lucas; great ideas that are refined into amazing ideas if they have someone to keep them in check, but if left alone quickly devolve into a convoluted mess.

Of all the 'twists' in Naruto the one that confounded me the most is Itachi. If he's a good guy then I just couldn't bring myself to understand how he could possibly think messing up with Sasuke's life/psyche so badly will bring about good results.

Sasuke ended the way he is right now is his fault, full stop.

Even at its worst DBZ had a sense of humour that naruto doesn't

Some, if not all, people will find this opinion of mine as a sacrilege but in terms of overall enjoyment I prefer Naruto over Dragonball.

I think it was an unfortunate side effect that came with the role Itachi eventually ended up in when he decided to spare The Sauce's life that night.

Plus whatever remnants that could have been salvaged after Itachi's death was ruined by Tobi telling the real story.

Uh I think you quoted the wrong reply for your response here since this was talking what fight i thought caused him to develop somewhat. *shrug*

Plus i kinda said that naruto's growth was one of the reasons The Sauce decided to go :)
Oops. Sorry.

Sauce is under cover to determine Madara's true plan. He's really not evil at all.

DB had good pacing and interesting characters. "Hur hur DBZ is the acme of shit" stuff needs to die in a clown fire.

Bulma suddenly had a son with Vegeta is the most random thing ever in the whole universe.

And now, from the meaningless internet polls department:
Contrary to some what some grimacing old-schoolers (like myself) believe, this past decade was actually pretty good for anime, and gave us lots of unique and memorable titles. Japanese news site Ameba hosted a poll asking its readers what the best Jump manga that debuted in the 2000s was--the full list and votes from the 15,000 participants go as follows:

1. Death Note (4,267)
2. Gintama (3,746)
3. Bleach (2,569)
4. Toriko (658)
5. Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! (642)
6. Bakuman. (597)
7. Eyeshield 21 (478)
8. Ichigo 100% (436)
9. Beelzebub (386)
10. Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar (347)
Emphasis added to head off anyone complaining about lack of Naruto, One Piece, HxH, etc.

Goku (the man who couldn't discern between genders) having a kid made sense then?

Crunchyroll edit:

Deathnote? DEATHNOTE?!?

That was idiotic trash. What's wrong with people?

Made sense if you consider how aggressive his wife was :P

And I agree with you, Death Note shouldn't be there. Not at number 1, at least.

Yeah, I remember being so mad about that when I was a kid. Poor Yamcha got left in the dust as soon as that happened.

JJBA part 6 vol 12

Haha, really Araki? You're gonna bring beloved Disney characters to life and make them psychotic killers? You crazy motherfucker!

Love the mention of copyright because I'm just thinking "no way will this ever come to the US". Even if likeness wasn't a big issue, don't think Disney wants their premiere park turning into some demented horror show.

Well, no specific Disney character is shown. The only ones that show up are from oooooooold fairy tales. But yes, that stand is kinda crazy!

Oh I like how that arc ended, muhahaha.

None of the romances were done that well, you just "accepted" them.

But fuck if Piccolo wasn't one of the best characters in that show. Pissed me off he became nothing more than a cheerleader by the end of the series.

Kimi ni Todoke 61:
Another solid chapter. With the focus on Ayane and Chizuru it just seems like the relationship development goes somewhere at realistic rate instead of the constant void that Kazehaya and Sawako are going through.

Cage of Eden 98:
The base just never catches a break without Sengoku around. Good stuff overall though.

I agree. The romances in DBZ are forgettable, and it's ok. It's a pure battle manga, and it does that genre REALLY well.

I mean, it's like complaining about Jason Statham's romance arc in The Expendables.

Oh hey, Naruto 561 is out.

I've skipped most of the discussion due to the delay so anything I'd say is probably old news to you all, but this panel still made me crack up:

Something about his expression, I guess.

When we get into discussions about part 2 dropping the ball I think I'll use this picture.

Tobi is that guy who got Naruto to steal the scrolls in the first chapters.

He's been long dead though(in the anime). I chuckled at how the kyuubi juiced up Naruto because he didn't want to be Madara's slave again. Where's OG Naruto by the way? A you guys amused like me that we've been getting Naurto shenanigans from one of his shenanigans? It's like meta man

Wow the huge drop between Bleach and Toriko. At least Amano got some love, Reborn does have its highlight a good decent tier series with good characters like no good tuna.

Naruto 561

Excellent chapter that was packed to the brim with despair and action. Three chapters in a row Kishimoto has supplied those bombs and Ive been continually shocked by each. The main powerful characters are all exhausted which will lead to nice methods of seeing them take out opponents. Apart from seeing my favorite attack, the multitude of Shadow Clone Rasengans, nine tailed fox and Madara trying to summon it(?) was great.

Naruto 561:

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. Madara is literally godlike. Dude tosses meteors, tries to summon the most powerful tailed beast around today, and sends a whole forest worth of trees at his enemies like he's a kid playing with Legos.

THIS is what the Rinnegan was capable of all along.

End of Eternity: The Secret Hours 4

Vashyron was hilarious this chapter, his side comments are always funny. Anyway I love that they actually had one of my favorite angles from the game in her for LeAnne. Each chapter makes me want to recover Resonance of Fate and replay it just for battles and in game comments alone.

Naruto

Madara is OP. Kind of makes Nagato look like a chump in retrospect. It's kind of weird that a Naruto clone is more useful than virtually everyone else on the battlefield; Is he just that strong, or is everyone else just that weak?

kishomoto has just made all characters weak so naruto can shine. i'm sure if he needs it he will suddenly make them more powerful. we know for sure he will make naruto look like shit once sasuke is back in the picture.

I don't see how it's weird that a clone of the main character is more useful than most of the other people on the battlefield. Being a clone doesn't really diminish his powers right? He's basically a kage level ninja. Gaara and that old guy have had their moments as well.

Naruto has to be broken if wants to fight with Sasuke in the future .
Plus Naruto was already super strong when he beat Pain , he beat some one who beat the whole village and leaf is suppose to be strongest one .
That was without the 9 tails helping him and he having control of it .

EDIT

Naruto
Not much to say ........

HSD
Good chapter now the save Miu arc can official start .

The fact is this clone basically is naruto. So how could he not?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be possible because obviously it should. What am I'm saying is that it's amusing that the clone is the MVP. It was even funnier when he mentioned he could go poof at any second.

Yeah, it does. Naruto's (and presumably the fox's) chakra is split between each clone equally. Since there are Naruto clones throughout the battlefield identifying Zetsu in disguise, this current clone should only have a fraction of Naruto's potential power.

DonMigs85 said:
I thought the fox already gave up most if not all of his chakra. And so each Naruto clone has a mini-fox inside too???

Best guess: Kyuubi is like cable, when Naruto splits each clone has the same channel. Thus they can tune into it.
