Marie playable in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

The thing about ASWespecially combined with Atlus' emphasis on narrative in P4A's caseis that canon pervades into the playable cast. Doesn't mean there aren't ways to make him playable in some form within those limitations, however.

When I got P4A, I hadn't played P4 or P3. I watched the P4 anime in order to understand what the fuck was going on in sotry mode. Since then, I've gotten into SMT games and was thinking in playing P3P (which I bought on sale). Should I also give P4 Golden a try? Like, is the added content worth the 100+ hrs playthrough? Cause I already know the true ending of vanilla Persona 4.

I don't think igor is going to be used much anymore now that the japanese voice actor passed away. Isn't one of the main reasons Marie is in the game to replace Igor?
The additional content and gameplay changes are substantial. I'd say it's worth it. The game will go quicker since you've played through the original version before.

I watched the anime only. I never played P4...
Go play Golden. There's an adjustable difficulty if you don't want to worry about the fights too much.
It's a really good game, and many people bought Golden having already played P4, so I'd say go for it.
Unless of course you don't want to play it, and would just force yourself through it for the Golden story content. In that case, you should probably just watch the Golden anime that's airing right now. It's on Crunchyroll.

Agreed. It's not like she's the worst character ever or anything, but she falls so far short of the impeccable standard set by the series. Just grossly overdesigned and she sticks out like a sore thumb.

Marie isn't worth hating, much in the same way she isn't deserving of any attention or capable of eliciting any emotions. She's a character oscillating between subpar and average for the entire game, but in a cast of generally-well-liked characters who have pretty tight integration into the story, never moving beyond the "tolerable" stage essentially means you're weak. Her poems are intentionally cringe-worthy, sure, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm wasting my time sitting through them, with no real payoff in the end.
The only thing that leaves as much to be desired in terms of her personality is her fashion sense, but both Eden Riegel and Kaguya are pretty cool.

But Igor already got replaced before in Japanese, so I wouldn't say things are necessarily set in stone. If it's not Elizabeth, though, they really messed up.
That's cool Marie is playable; her Persona was really great to use in P4G (it has lots of great magic attacks and some good stats 
). Not to mention to a new character added to a huge story-based game, Altus did a great job making Marie fit within the existing story of Persona 4.
As for her being the DLC fighter....I think its a bit odd :l. With the P4G Animation happening, I would think Altus would want her to be included in the to pushed both sales of P4G and viewers of P4G Animation.... Either way if she has her own story mode (

Recasting a character after the current voice actor has died is considered disrespectful in Japan.
In cases where this does happen there end up being plot excuses like in MGS4 when Ocelots VA died they cast Liquids original VA with the excuse that Liquid had completely taken over Ocelots body.

Igor has had other JPN VA in the past (only once though).
Takeshi Aono played Igor in the Persona 2 drama CD's (although he also passed away from a heart attack in 2012).
But I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for them to find a new VA for him, even if it's considered disrespectful.
What's even funnier than people trying to act like their opinion is closer to fact than other's is when they ask for others to validate that, lol
Marie is fine. Her Social Link certainly could have used some work, but the hate us overblown.

Phil would make much more sense than any of the P3 and 4 ones, especially if 5 is trying to be its own thing rather than a direct continuation.
I'm not sure that they'll recast considering that they haven't so far and he doesn't appear to be in Q.

I'm...intrigued? I never played Golden, so I don't really know a huge amount about her apart from the general hate she gets on gaf and some spoilers I read a while back. Kind of like her design, though. Now I'm wondering if I should wait and play Golden, watch the new scenes on youtube, or watch the new anime.
Mostly I'm just curious about how she plays. I wonder if we'll get screenshots and/or video footage soon.
