Not to derail, but I'm with you here. Partners in Time was my first game in the series though, and to this day, it's the only game in the series I've managed to beat (although I've gotten close in Superstar Saga).

It's the only M&L game I've played, but most still consider it the best. I'd definitely replay it if it got the hd treatment. Can't believe it's been 14 years since this came out. One of the highlights of the GBA library for sure.

Allocating space for a title on the eShop server is a way bigger deal than filling some trademark. Unless it's a placeholder, but it feels terribly specific to be one

I'm pretty much done with the 3DS and Paper Jam kind of tired me out of the series, but I never played the first game.

Excluding Pokémon, this was the game that introduced me and got me hooked on RPGs as a kid. I hope this is real as I so badly want to replay it. It remains my favorite entry in the series to date.

The original M&L:SS is the only one in that series that I absolutely love. That means, of course, that I've played through it something like several times over the last fourteen years, and I don't know if I would spend $40 or so to do it again with, let's face it, existing assets from the other 3DS M&L games.

I really liked how SS had a Zelda-esque overworld that unfortunately got dropped in the later games. Even though most major areas aren't accessible until the respective part of the story, it went a long way to give it a real adventure feel and a cohesive design. All the other games have a "block" structure to their overworld where it's kind of a linear trail from one area to another, and it makes the games feel a bit more artificial in comparison.


Edit: Also, this news gives me hopes for a Paper Mario/TTYD remaster....

The 3DS titles had some of the best stereoscopic 3D and a generally good graphical transition from the 2D games. It certainly deserves to be seen on an actual good game before 3D goes away.
