Mario Paint Wii-U: A no-brainer?

Mario Paint on the Wii would have been too imprecise with the Wiimote.

But with the Wii-U controller, wouldn't this game just make sense?

You take a beloved Mario spin-off, add in HD graphics, throw in a music creator featuring various songs from Nintendo franchises (not frickin 5 or 6 a la Wii Music...I'm talking Smash Bros.), and the ability to make your own chiptunes, add some delightful erase animations, and KAPOW! You have a million+ seller.

Eh? EH?!?!

Only if you can still make music. Mario Paint Composer is the shit.
I think this could be a huge selling point.

Do you think Nintendo is aware how popular Mario Paint tunes are on YouTube? It would be instant word of mouth. It can even have a feature where you can upload the songs directly to YouTube, Facebook, etc... (but knowing Nintendo, it'll be something stupid like "Upload one song or painting per day to the Wii-U Mii Plaza!)

i agree OP, imagine being able to make art and music and then share them online easily.
Oh yeah, I remember back when I said that sharing art and music online was new and revolutionary.

I remember when I said that.

Download only would be more logical. How much flash memory is the WiiU equipped with again?
8GB rumored. No idea if they've even finalized the amount

I'd rather have Art academy, hopefully an enhanced version.

The one on NDS is really great, but it's a pity you can't export neither share your paintings, besides I want more lessons this time.

a stylus for the wii u? boring. where's the multi-touch!

On consoles that don't need pixel precision for their touch interface lol.

Joke aside. The stylus itself should make for some nice game ideas. Multitouch would've been nice, but I can see why they didn't go for multitouch capacitive displays.

Why would you do that? said:
Even better: WarioWare DIY for Wii U!

WarioWare DIY is basically Mario Paint (you can draw, make music, etc, in a very Mario Paint-like interface) but you can also make games.

Mind=Blown. This could be amazing.

And my axe. *tear*

Damn you, I was setting up for this:

I think Shikamaru is right, they'd probably take each of the components we liked from Mario Paint and brand them as separate downloads or something. In a way, flipnote studio and jam with the band are sort of successors to things within Mario Paint, the flyswatting minigame appeared in one of the Wario Ware titles if I remember rightly...

I'd dearly love them to come up with a fully featured Mario Paint Wii-U package though, it would be amazing.

Absolutely could be really fun!

Maybe it fits more the "app" style for the Wupad. They intended to do that with the multiple DD64 disks.
For example one app for the music (and sharing this online is a great deal, see the numerous youtube videos with the PC mario Paint composer - awesome), another one in the flipnote studio style, and each of them comes with an extra stupid mini-game.

What would be great is if they would include cut scenes from various games that you could alter. Add your own lighting, music, put a rastafarian hat on Ridley...

Note: Ridley not shown.

No, cause that would be a logical step.
You will probably get a painting game with miis and something fucked up that you don't want.

Cause Nintendo will think that's EXACTLY what you want.
See Nintendo, you have made me a bitter person

A Pokémon Snap for Wii U makes so much sense that Nintendo are probably already developing it.

Remember how much sense starfox made for the Wii given that you could use the wiimote as something of a flight stick? Remember how that turned out? Yeah... so much sense.

It would make total sense.

Which is why Nintendo won't make it.

This is Ok but it doesn' t mean another drawing thing will be out of sense.

After all, uDraw on Wii and, I forgot the name, the game to learn how to paint on DS have been great success (at least in Europe for the DS game Nintendo published).

If they make a new Mario Paint, it better have the music composer and fly swatter game. They also need to update the music that plays when you're painting. PLEASEEEE

Art Accademy. It is developed by Headstrong games (formerly Kuju) who also made House of the Dead overkill and Batallion Wars.

Nintendo were very interested in uDraw but I guess they had thier own vision for it. I'd like the to think the U in Wii U is a tribute to uDraw...

Mario Paint and Pokemon Snap are the first two games that immediately come to mind that would be perfect for Wii U.

Nintendo could release a console that uses a mouse for its primary controller and they still wouldn't make this game.

This is unfortunately what I have come to expect from Nintendo as well.

I think the mistake Nintendo makes is that they occasionally comment the "core audience" will never be satisfied. I think if they made an effort to reach out to the core audience for feedback (I'm not talking Club Nintendo surveys...I have a feeling those are ejected into outer space the moment they are completed), we could come up with ideas that can appeal to the casual market as well and be huge successes.

For example, you have WiiWare right? Make a "Super Mario Bros. Level Editior" game where you are given the assets to the original SMB game and you can create custom levels a la Excite Bite and upload them for other players to try. You can go for most creative or most frustrating (see: Asshole Mario). Again, something that is already done and insanely popular with fangame enthusists.

Obviously not common knowledge hah. There is a lot of neat stuff in the Mario Artist games (which Ive still never played :()
Hey here's an idea: Put it on the Virtual Console as an N64 import and charge $12 for it!

Where is Pilotwings 64?
