I'd be pleased too if Bioware/EA was paying me money to write bullshit posts like this.
2.5 hours?
Did you read that right off the list of bulletpoints in the email they sent you?
It's a rushed videogame created by a lazy developer that doesn't respect it's customer base.
And pleased rest assured, this is my honest opinion.
It's a videogame.
Didn't the lead writer kick out all the other writers and wrote all of the ending himself without listening to anyone else? The endings are better. Maybe I am bitter, but it is a shame that there needed to be a huge out-cry for these to be reworked. I mean, you would think that the people who actually created these stories and characters would care more about what happened to all these characters and where they ended up than the fans. Instead of just phoning home the original ending and doing color swaps to make them seem like the different choices.
It seems they were too caught up on focusing on freaking multiplayer and additional content to that. Bioware has truly not been the same since moving to EA. Hopefully all this has been a wake up call to them.

Can I just load the last save before the end or do I have to play through all the Cerberus base?
It's a rushed videogame created by a lazy developer that doesn't respect it's customer base and this is clearly like breaking into my apartment and killing my family.
fixed
It's a videogame.
fixed it one more time for you.
PS. "lazy dev" is among the worst things on gaming GAF.
THATS WHAT WE'RE SAYINGThen this whole extended cut was a waste of everyone's time.
What the hell is your problem?
Yes, it took me about 2,5 hours to play through the cerberus base again, fight on earth and view the ending. I even skipped the final conversations with my teammates before leaving for the final battle. Seems like I missed some more changes thanks to that. :-(
I hated the original ending, but not because of the direction the story of Mass Effect took, but rather the lackluster way it was told. This is a good story that was initially told incredibly bad on it's final stretch. I wanted Bioware to fix it, I expected to be terribly disappointed once again, but as it turned out, Bioware actually did their homework.
And pleased rest assured, this is my honest opinion.
Why did it take so long for them to release this extended cut? All the endings had the same exact sequence and pictures basically but with a different monologue.

The PC download is so late I've already spoiled myself on all of the endings.
Squashed man = kid
Stock photo from internet with a little photoshop = Alien race
each ending just being a color swap
Bioware is a fucking lazy dev.
Sure, some decisions they did was questionable, but can you really call a whole team lazy when they did nice stuff like the Tuchanka and Rannoch missions? The Ardat-Yakshi monastery? The Grunt/Rachni mission? Those werent "lazy".
Then this whole extended cut was a waste of everyone's time.
They were pretty short...
Pretty short? They all have the usual ME mission length.

Their team was probably way smaller than the one that worked on the game and they created nearly 2gb of new content.
It's not as easy or fast as it may seem.
I spent twice their length hunting shit on the Citadel and playing recycled multiplayer maps.
EDIT: EXTENDED CUT UP FOR PC!!!
EDIT: "NOT RELEASED YET" FOR PC!!! YOU CAN PRE-LOAD IT!

Nothing has changed, you could have loaded your save from on teh catalyst ship, all we got were some new cutscenes
What does "2gb of new content" even mean? Nothing. File size means nothing in terms of weighing meaningful content. One guy can edit a shitty video from existing content and compress it poorly and it could be a gig. A team of people can also work on a 30 hour RPG for 2 years, and it could only be 8meg.
Restart. So uh, do I just start the save from the last save I have? It says something about "restarting"...
