Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut is coming next week [Up: Out now, my sweet]

You know what, I give huge props to the mass effect team for not only listening to the complaints but also went to huge effort to actually add and change what they could. They can't completely retcon the ending but at least they understood where there was some confusion and expanded upon ideas/concepts they attempted to make in the endings.

We all know the original ending was and always be a clusterfuck, give bioware some credit for the extra mile they gave to the fans.
We reject that shitty ending and make our own! fuck you bioshit

Calling all modders

All three of the original ones are the same. The one for the new fourth ending is different.
I can't find the fourth ending post credits scene - can you tell me what happens?

And funny enough, keeping the same post-credits scene for the other endings makes absolutely no sense now.

His time is so valuable he's going to waste more of it discussing an ending he doesn't like and posting about why the ending itself is a waste of his time.

There's nothing wrong with that. Complaining about things together can be great fun.

I love how the new
Refusal ending
is basically a fuck you to all the people who complained.

In a way, it is actually a catch-all success for those people.

-it does away with most of the Space Magic
-Shepard dismisses the Star Child's Bullshit
-most plot holes and stupidity are forgotten because they don't exist,
-the future is bright for space exploration in this new universe.

-in a sense, the Refuse ending is the same as if the game ends with Shepard and Anderson sitting looking at earth. It ends with the right kind of speculation.

That's why after a few more hours of thinking about it, the refuse is still my favorite ending.

if anything, saying the refuse is my favorite is basically a Fuck you to bioware for the original ending.

Would the Indoc theory really be that difficult to implement?

Eh, I actually think the Refusal ending is acceptable for what it is. It could be better or have tied into the EMS stuff more, but the
Gurren Lagann "oh yeah well then we'll beat you anyway" thing was never gonna happen unless it was a complete draw where both sides blew each other up if you had max EMS or whatever.

Honestly, all they've done is opened up old wounds and reinforced the notion that they just don't get what people disliked about the endings.

"Lots of speculation from everyone!"

Buzz Aldrin basically says that because of what the previous cycle left behind in Liara's message, they have peace. It's implied that they beat the reapers, but it's not explained how.

Heh, put these two things together and yeah, you could probably read it that way. lol
It's just very awkward given all the outrage in the first place and their insistence on their own "artistic vision".

But why would someone implement something they didn't agree with?

Keep customers? Why wouldn't they agree with something that makes sense vs. something that doesn't.

This is March all over again.

Nah, they're not going to lose any meaningful customers over some fan theory. Sorry to burst your bubble. They create a story and an ending, and the ending turned out to be stupid and not so good. That's unfortunate, but it doesn't mean a fan theory should be vindicated or officially supported just because. We should just accept that the ending was disappointing and move on.

So are you guys actually going back to the Attack on Cerberus base and playing from there, or are you just loading up your last save and watching the endings?

This has to be the most arrogant and condescending comment I've ever read from a consumer to a developer. Sure, it's one thing to dislike the ending and say it's bad, however, to disprove and destroy the creative vision and work that Bioware has made altogether using a fan theory just because "it makes more sense then their ending" is just outright insulting.

In his defense, their work and artistic vision is both shit and an insult to anyone with a functioning brain.

So if it's so shit why would anyone want them to "implement" anything further? If they did such a terrible job that it is an "insult to anyone with a functioning brain" then if I were you I would just avoid all their products in future and not even bother with anything they want to add to the existing game.

Had the chance to play it through myself just now, thought I'd give some more detailed thoughts.

I liked that it does fix several (albeit relatively minor) plotholes like evacuating the rest of the squad, even if it was somewhat contrived, and showing Shepard being launched up onto the Citadel instead of magic teleporting beam thingy.

Being able to actually question what space kid's saying, even if it doesn't come to anything, is much better than having Shepard blindly accept it like a moron. The explanations for each ending are still bullshit (especially Synthesis) but there is at least some attempt to explain it which is better than nothing.

In another time and place the Shut The Fuck Up ending would have been determined by your EMS score but the option is welcome.

It's bad writing but the ending at least manages to be a little bit satisfying. It could have been so much more though, and the fact that such a bandaid fix was even needed means that Walters should be looking for a new job, and Bioware needs to seriously take certain lessons to heart.

No but it would make the ending even worse. Horrible dumb and stupid.

The indoctrination theory only explains away the current ending. It is not an ending in and of itself. Also, it makes far more sense and is far more intelligent than any of the other endings.

On Topic: Gotta agree with the others than the Refuse ending, as deeply flawed as it is, is the best of the lot and makes the most sense to the story at that point. Or maybe its because it does a big fuck you to the space magic and stupid metaphysical bullshit.

You played three of their games. Or am I confusing you with someone else?

Never the less, my brain is functioning just fine and I like a fair amount of elements in all of the ME games. No feeling of slight or insult for me.

For the giggles.

Endings are still dumb and I still don't buy the fact that your crew abandoned you at the end there. Actually, they still didn't explain how the fuck your final mission squadmates got on the Normandy, did they?

I think it's hilarious how they had to change the fact that they clearly had the Relays blowing up in the original ending and now they don't explode. Fucking comedy gold. "They didn't get destroyed even though that's what you see happening on your screen."

Also, Joker no longer turns his head to look back at the incoming explosion in his cockpit.

Pretty much the only thing I liked was the addition of a refusal ending.

I will unless whatever they release gets good word of mouth. I actually didn't even download this; I just watched them all on youtube.

Yeah right, Your the same guy that bashed on anyone that came into an Mass Effect Thread with a different opinion than yours.

I can't help but think how wrong you are.

I never bashed. I just told people to continue to think about the ending because I've seen it happen a lot throughout the two spoiler threads. People would come in and say that the endings were alright, but when they thought about it, their opinions would change.

Honestly I don't think it's about the fans at this point. I'm a writer and I sometimes write short stories. I've heard people saying they don't like my endings and have given me alternate ones that sound better to them and others. However, just because it's better - or has the possibility to - doesn't give anyone the write (pun intended) to change it. I had my own vision for the story and such. Don't insult it by telling me to change it to something that others have created so it makes more sense, etc.
