With Mass Effect™: Andromeda, our team at BioWare™ is exploring how far they can take this beloved franchise. Yes, we’re building the best of what we all love about Mass Effect – amazing stories, characters and fun third-person shooter combat – and bringing them along with us on the expedition to Andromeda. But we’re also excited to be introducing new features and ways you can enjoy a Mass Effect game.

• More Freedom: One of our biggest ambitions is to give players an unprecedented level of freedom for a Mass Effect experience –where you’ll go, how you’ll get there, and how you’ll play.

• New Uncharted Worlds: We’re leaving the Milky Way behind and headed to Andromeda, where we’ll meet new allies, confront new enemies, and explore fascinating new worlds.

• The Next Great Mass Effect Experience: Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the first Mass Effect game for today’s consoles and the first built on the Frostbite engine. We’re pushing the technology to deliver visuals, story, and gameplay that have never been done in franchise history.

As we’ve been playing the game at the studio recently, it’s showing us that we’re taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that’s our commitment from all of us to all of you. Because of that, Mass Effect: Andromeda will now ship in early 2017. We can’t wait to show you how far we’re all going to go. We’ll see you at the EA PLAY press conference on June 12, with an update.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Yeah, they pretty much said this in their previous financial calls, but they're making it official at this point since the fiscal call for this fiscal year is today, and those include a release calendar broken down by quarter.

The only real question is late January, February or March.

For comparison, the release dates for the first three:

Mass Effect 1 - Nov. 20
Mass Effect 2 - Jan. 26
Mass Effect 3 - March 6

I thought EA had killed the series with that Mass Effect 3 stuff but GOD DAMN IT, I'm HYPED FOR THIS GAME.

Also excited to see how the game look, technically. A current gen only game that runs on Frostbite, is single player and is 30 fps will be something to behold.

I have to imagine it's March given it's the month the biggest games launch in and they'll want this to make a lot of money. Maybe late February at earliest.

Seriously, at this rate they'll just release the game without actually showing it first.

To be honest, that'd be a nice change of pace compared to the usual overflow of too much information about games.
Of course, we'll get flooded with info closer to launch, but this is nice for now.

Isn't Q1 2017 getting a little crowded due to delays? And especially with the NX launching March.

I think an argument for late January could be made if they want to give it some space.

So what about titanfall? February for titanfall, mass effect for march?

That's Q3 apparently, so I'm guessing November.

I think they're aiming for a sales volume such that they want to be the biggest game in the market in Q1, so it probably wouldn't matter.

When we get their projected revenue breakdown by quarter this afternoon, it should become more clear.

we yet to see anything about this game
Who cares? Let them finish the game and release the best version possible. I wouldn't care if they didn't show it off until a month before, if it looks good then who cares when we see it. What would showing it off now change?

So right after battlefield and right into call of duty sheesh. My wallet

Can't wait to see gameplay! Sucks that it's now *officially* pushed to 2017, but if it means a better game I'm all for it.

Possibly the most excited I've ever been for a game, it might be the first time I take a day off work just to play a game. E3 can't come soon enough!

I also hope ME:A will feature multiplayer similar to ME3 - probably the best and most unexpected "added on" MP I've played.

I doubt the NX release would have a huge impact on game release dates for games not on the NX

I agree but look what happened to No Mans Sky. People got genuinely angry over not knowing enough about the game. I kinda liked the mystery...until they started showing like literally every single aspect of it. Sure you can always go media blackout but that's pretty hard these days when you check websites and GAF regularly.

I think that's a bit different cuz nobody knew what the fuck you even do in No Man's Sky. Mass Effect is one of the biggest AAA franchises in gaming, and going by the description, they aren't gonna change that TOO much. We got an idea of what Mass Effect is at this point, to the point they just need to start promotion up 6-9 months before release and thats enough time to build up excitement.

Plus...there was also that survey that basically revealed the entire game design, so theres taht.

What's this game about?
Invading a new galaxy?
Vanguard?
Could be interesting.

Wait, multiplayer?
Who wants multiplayer in an RPG?
I'm out. And raged. Outraged!

What worries me about this game is that it sounds a little too much like Star Trek: Voyager, and that show kinda sucked.
