I don't know.

We already have decent versions of these games on PC, nobody asked for lens flares and making every area more yellow. From what I can see, they have really done the bare minimum in order to make a quick buck and fill the cash void left by Andromeda and Anthem.

If a game needed a ground-up remaster it's Andromeda, there were good ideas under that shitty execution. I'd support a Andromeda redux over corpse digging games made by talent long since gone from the bioware studios, it can't be any worse than the original, unlike these remasters could be

Because playstation only gamers of which there are about 100 million users can finally experience the trilogy without booting up a 10 year old relic to play.

Some of you, I swear to God

Just probably want to complain since you see "EA" at the box art

This sounds like a quick cash grab. Just resolution up to 4K and a new launch menu.
looks the same lighting wise ,ea are really lazy considering saints row 3 ,batman and others have made their remasters with modern graohics, this is still stuck in 2010 but with higher textures

They've reworked the hell out of Mass Effect 1 both in visuals and gameplay, improved textures and models for the whole trilogy, 4K and 60 fps with HDR support + all DLC

Honestly, with the exception of Mafia and Saints Row 3, can you name a better remaster? (lol at considering the Arkham remaster a good one)

To me this looks like the kind of remaster that is given the absolute bare minimum to bring the games as they exist into current day at the lowest acceptable level.

I mean they haven’t even done any work to link the games together you just choose mass effect 1 on the menu then mass effect 2 etc.

In the day of raytracing to not put that feature in on older graphics engine to really give the game a new look I feel really disappointed. I could probably deal with the older graphics if it had that realistic lighting and I’m sure there is plenty of overhead on next gen consoles and pc to run this.
Did any remaster in the history of mankind offered a link between games of the same trilogy? Huge technical requirements aside, it would be a bad idea from a storytelling point. You don't see Lord of the Rings Collections with the option to watch every movie linked together.

Mass Effect games arent like a tv series, they are like movies: have defining story archs with begining, middle and conclusion.

And regarding Ray Tracing: these games use Unreal Engine 3, which doesnt support RT. Implementing it to the engine would be a huge task (dont even know if possible), but even if possible, they would have to relit the whole trilogy from the ground up.

So because it’s such a ’huge task’ they just shouldn’t bother? This is a cheap as bones cash in and because consumers will buy it EA will continue releasing crap like this. Consumers should hold them to a higher standard, but they won’t.

I think my problem is that it is a remaster. I personally believe most people wanted a full remake, but a full remake is an expensive long term investment and requires the devs to truly respect the franchise its history and lineage.

This is not enough to make me want to pay full price for the same game I’ve played before. I don’t believe the ai up scaled textures can properly compare to my rose tinted nostalgia memories so I’m going to stay away and keep my memories intact.

Yes, they shouldn't bother. Again, have you seen any other company doing something like that? No? So stop dreaming about unrealistic expectations

Again with the "cheap as bones cash in" argument. And I'll repeat: no other company did a better job than this with a 3 games collection. Not even Bluepoint, considered the best in the biz for making remasters.

I know how a cheap cash in remaster looks like. EA did this with Burnout Paradise. 1080p 30 fps, and nothing more. Now THAT was lazy, not this.

"I think my problem is that it is a remaster. I personally believe most people wanted a full remake, but a full remake is an expensive long term investment and requires the devs to truly respect the franchise its history and lineage."

Yeah, that's exactly your problem. You were doing good with the "expensive long term investment" part but totaly shit the bed with "required the devs to truly respect the franchise" thing

Not, it's about money and scope. Remaking 3 games of that size with today's tech would require huge amounts of budget and dev time. 3 years of dev time for each entry, easily.
For a franchise that sold poorly (Andromeda) and received bad scores in its last entry? EA execs would be insane to greenlight this.

I'm a huge fan, and I'm into a lot of ME groups, and a lot of people are happy with how the remaster is shaping up.
This is much better than the upgrade to 4k and locked 30 fps that I was expecting with no other benefits.

I'm honestly sad that you wont be able to enjoy it for what it is.

Can't wait.

Forever grateful to that one GAME (UK) employee who called me out when I tried to buy CoD4 when I was 12 years old in 2007 and recommended the (weirdly, PEGI 12) Mass Effect instead.

A week later and barely pubescent me was getting that alien ass.

I haven't actually done a playthrough of the games since 2013. I was about to embark on a modded run of the trilogy last year but then this was announced.

Still think I put in too many hundreds of hours before that to have forgotten anything but let's see.

Oh no less of Miranda's stupid looking butt. Game so ruined!

You're really ok with the Andromeda team making decisions on what needs to change to meet their extreme puritan agenda?

Remember when the lead story writer was showing off his "white people tears" mug on twitter? Or the artists saying they were proud of making their women look non-binary as it made the game more inclusive?

I honestly can't blame people for not trusting this remaster, the camel toe and ass shots are not important to the game at all, but you would have to be very naive to think that's the extent of their "changes",

they probably still blame gamergaters for Andromeda flopping.

Sorry, but if you give Bioware money in 2021 you are asking for it. They have been a shitshow for years and anyone expecting something different this time must have been hiding behind a rock for the last 5+ years.

Nah you nerds are thinking way too much into this. Even when I played it back when it launched I found it cringe af to have the camera focus on the ass when you're having a serious dialogue. It was stupid back then and it's stupid now. If they were censoring the game they'd have to remove the outfits and remodel a lot of female characters which they are not. Go play the classic or go on pornhub if you're that horny for a second of some ugly 3d ass.

I don't think this can be considered full price, because you're getting three games for the price of one, and a bunch of DLC that cost more than the three games is also included. Not to mention games are more in the range of $70 nowadays.

It might not be great value for the ones that already played the trilogy, but it is for everyone else, and it's still ok for the ones that love the first ME more than the other ones.

Bioware is so goddamn lazy that they didn't even add the Jack romance for female Sheppard in ME2. Even when doing it would've given them worthless brownie points with the woke.

That was a romance that was included in ME2 until it was pulled at the last minute because the higher ups were concerned Fox News was going to do another stupid panel on the game. The romance was written, the dialogue exists. They literally did not add 1 new line of dialogue or 1 cut quests to the whole "Legendary Remaster". Cash grabbing bastards.

People going on about censoring Miranda's butt, but i'm more bothered about them taking out stuff like Sheperd punching female reporters, and other 'renegade' options. Being an arsehole with Sheperd was one of the best parts of the orig trilogy imo, and toning down the Renegade stuff will be a no go for me, i'll just stick with the orig games.

Wait what? Are they taking out punching the reporter? Please tell me you're not serious?

No, no, no, i'm saying i'm worried about them taking it out, and other Renegade options. It hasnt been reported or anything.
Oh that's a relief. But I know what you mean. I saw an article online that said "punching the reporter" hasn't aged well. I don't think they're going to take that out but I am worried about the future of the industry if this "sanitation" continues. Being a renegade was so much fun!

Finally!
I bought the trilogy on PS3 but the framerate was abysmal, so I decided to wait for a better edition!
It looks like the time has come!

i hope they didnt tone down mass effect 1’s sex scenes. I mean its not crazy, but it was definitely more “revealing” than anything in 2 or 3, not as revealing as andromeda or dragon age inquisition though.

I thought originally the sexualisation was supposed to be a throwback to Star Trek it’s weird that they have to go in and re touch with virtue paintbrush but also inevitable I guess. Also am I alone in thinking the comparison shots are kind of bad?

Looks ok I suppose, not much of an improvement though. I wonder just how much stuff they removed. So they mentioned Miranda's ass being less prominent which is a shame. But if they dare to remove slapping the annoying reporter, then I'm out!

Gaming in general has become the breeding ground of compliance with "woke" demands. Anything that is remotely close to being "woke" is immediately criticized, whether it's warranted or not.

To me, the games are much more valuable than whether I can see Miranda's ass or not. But I do understand the argument that she was designed to be genetically perfect and that being sexually attractive is part of her as a character. One can argue that changing this somehow undermines part of her character. I don't agree, but, I understand the concern. It makes one wonder what else was changed. For one, I would be mad if they toned down the sexual scene in ME1 just because Fox was whining based on lies...

Context always remains important, but, it's also important to pick your battles. The last thing this franchise needs is another controversy, and especially about something as trivial as being able to see the fictional butt of a fictional character. So in this case, it's a whatever for me. I don't care if they changed the camera angles.

If they would have focused on bringing in a bunch of gay romances instead of upgrading ME1 for example, that would be a completely different story.

To buy on launch day to support the franchise and drop the games I'll be playing then or to wait for a sale and a time I can actually play it... First world problems

It's just crazy to me than it only took 10 years for the far left to become the religious far right. Back in 2010 Bioware was scared shitless of Fox News. They pulled Jack's romance for female Shepard right before lunch and made the sex scenes way tamer. Now they don't give a damn about Fox News and the religious puritans, now they're scared of Twitter and Kotaku.

The conservatives have not changed their views, I'm sure Fox News is thrilled there is no more Miranda butt because we have to protect the children. The liberals were all for sex and butts back then but now they're against that as well. It's just so confusing to me.

The game is still a few months away. If fans wanted to they could probably unite on twitter and ask for the buttocks back.

Just saying, Stranger things have happened.

The people on Kotaku, Twitter, or Resetera are not liberals, but the authoritarian left. They are as sex-negative as the far right. You can see that in any communist dictatorship.

The liberals are still in the middle, but they don't have a voice, like the shrieking people on Twitter or Resetera.

Sex-negativity is always on of the clear authoritarian signs, there never was a pro sex/porn dictatorship.

They're not the same people. They've been replaced with space lizards pretending to be liberal.

Or what the post above me said. That works too.

I'm surprised it took other outlets as long as it did to cannibalize the Metro article.

In choosing to repurpose the old games, EA should have maintained the original camera work, outside instances that legitimately broke the product. Not that I would have agreed with a completely rebuilt game purposefully introducing agenda-driven changes, but as with similar titles that felt the need to cleanse portions of their original works, I'm not inclined to support alterations to existing content, simply because it now might offend some segment. The situation also raises the red flag of other minor nip-and-tucks that might have been implemented.

This is such a stupid change. It's a game where you are literally supposed to decide on a character to romantically pursue. Nothing wrong with a butt shot - obviously Shepherd would notice her ass and you are playing as Shepherd. This is nothing but the extremely weird and unhealthy modern trend in gaming that heterosexuality (from the male POV) is evil. I'm sure somewhere in this trilogy there is a clear shot of a mans' muscles/chest, and they did nothing to change that.

So am I the only one still a bit bummed that multiplayer for Mass Effect 3 isn’t coming along for the ride? I hope they release it at a later date but I’m pretty sure it won’t happen at any point.

I wonder how they will solve the cutout NPC's at the beginning of Mass Effect 3?

Also can one holster their weapon in Mass Effect Legendary edition now as you couldn't before in ME3 due to constraints.
