Obviously all violent attacks are awful, but I've visited Vegas so frequently and my family visits it so frequently, I can't help but feel differently about this attack. There really isn't anything to say except, I feel terrible and I hope for the best.

As long as there aren't any other active shooters, your friends are safe as the Linq is farther up the strip. Mandalay Bay is essentially at the start of the strip.

My spouse was able to get a hold of her coworker that's staying at New York New York which is three casinos away. Luckily she's off the strip at New Orleans so she's staying there for the time being.

One shooter down is good news. That's usually it, despite there always being early reports of multiple shooters.

I would think there have to be multiple shooters. Unless the one guy was akimbo. There were clearly overlapping shots in the video with the people running for cover.

"Stay safe, VegasGAF" doesn't mean "I don't care about people who aren't on GAF", it means "This is a terrible situation all around and I hope members of this community who may be in the area are okay."

I'm hoping she's safe. No reply from either of them right now but they might be in lockdown as well.

Had to call my sis who was visiting for her bday. She's ok and based on the concert footage shown I assume she wasn't in that area but told her to watch out and be safe none the less. Never been to Vegas so didn't know if where she was located was away or not, just told her to get to her hotel and call it a night. Now I'm gonna be worried staying up.

There are no signs of anyone getting hit. There is the video of someone kneeling next to a person but no reaction from others around them that the person was shot.

Holy shit.

I was literally on The Strip like 2 hours ago for my company's booth setup for a convention this week.

I had coworkers calling me asking if I was ok.

Praying for everyone that was at Mandalay Bay tonight.

Calm the fuck down and stop looking for shit to get riled up about. Gaf may be a direct line of communication to any gaffers on the strip right now, hence the “stay safe vegas-gaf”

All he said is that he heard somebody else say that something was happening at the Bellagio. He himself was hiding in his own room, which is facing the Mandalay Bay. So basically he was just reporting hearsay, which of course CNN is now running as news.

Evacuated by security to the Bellagio ballroom. In here with about 500 people. People are mostly calm but a little shaken.

Going to be a long wait before we get back to my hotel I’m sure.

They're asking for people not to post their officer locations, which makes me wonder how it's possible that I'm listening to their scanner. A cop was radioing in when he was on the same floor as the suspect. Feels like that's something that I shouldn't know.
