Can we get a respective First week Second week comparison for both titles? This means that Peace Walker is ahead of MGS4 right?

I think the 2nd week's number for MGS4 is in last week's thread already.

Yeah, PW is leading the way with 575.000, while MGS4 sold 533.000 on the same time frame.

What in gods name is causing Spirit Tracks to have these kind of legs? Most people laughed at how low it compared to Phantom Hourglass but I think when we get LTD on that thing it should be getting pretty close, right?

probably the rest of the PH owners noticed the good WOM and price collapse and decided to jump in before it became a rarity.

So that's it for big releases in Japan until fall ?
The biggest release I can think of before Fall is White Knight Chronicles 2 on July 8th, so I would say yes.

Edit: Actually, I've gone insane. See duckroll's post below.

Somehow I managed to forget all three of these.

I'm apparently not thinking straight right now. >_< :lol

Thanks for the correction.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Game looks great but I doubt that.

Soma Bringer could sell 100k on the DS basically on Mitsuda and Takahashi's name alone. Much less marketing, a brand new IP, on a much more saturated RPG platform. While I don't know if Xenoblade can sell MORE than 200k, I think selling over 100k is pretty much certain. 200k is possible. I'm not saying it will sell 200k but I'm simply listing games with the potential to hit over 200k. There's no telling if Fate/Extra or Last Ranker will sell over 100k either, but they certainly have the potential to.

Ah, good calls. I think we're probably also lacking some sports titles which I'm generally not that familiar with which could do well, especially football games released near the world cup.

Basically June will be a relatively slow month, and we shouldn't expect anything released to have a LTD of over 500k. July has some major releases both in the over 500k (over million for IE3) category and the over 200k category. Definitely going to be an interesting month.

I expect that for June, most of interest on the weekly charts will be to see how well SMG2 does in the long run.

Here I was under the impression folks didn't like DQM Joker all that much. Silly me, should hit 1 million in the next week and a half eh?

Well, quite a few Dragon Quest fans on GAF didn't like it that much, but I'm not sure how many of us are in the intended audience for it.

Why did you add a game I already listed... :/

Edit: I don't think the GTA DLC pack will sell anything close to 100k honestly. It's almost a full priced release. Honestly, I don't expect much from Lost Planet 2 either. Feels like there's zero hype, and it's going to bomb out at 50k or so. The sports stuff are good calls though.

Yeah I was just too lazy to type all the SRW OG Saga crap at the start, the title is super long as it is. It'll always just be Lord of Elemental to me. :)

Anyone think there'll be any surprises in the May to July period? Something unexpected selling more than normal expectations?

Not sure about this one doing 500k. Sure it's Dragon Quest but I think some people are still feeling burned about Swords. A year ago this would be shoe-in for half a mil but kids aren't lining up for the arcade game so much anymore.

It's like Mushiking DS. It could have easily sold over a million had it been released at the peak of the arcade game popularity, but by the time it finally came out the craze was all but dead. Love and Berry did much better because while that game was in a decline by the time the DS one came out, people were still playing it.

But again, this is Dragon Quest we are talking about and people are hungry for the series. (as joker 2 just proved)

Does anyone have a list of Dragon Quest spin-off game sales? I would guess the games sell best when released shortly after a main game.

I'm wondering how did the new Hakuouki PSP game do today. It could do better than usual for Idea Factory standards but other than that not looking forward to much.

Anyway, some more games:

- White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide PS3 (24 June)
Aqua Plus had 2 >100k sellers on PS2, I doubt they can do that on PS3 but if they could this would be it me thinks.

- World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Aoki Samurai no Chousen PS3/PSP (20 May)
Just the PS3 and PSP versions have a chance to do >100k imo

- Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable 2: Nazo Nazo Shimai to Chinbotsusen no Himitsu PSP (24 June)
The first portable one did 97k (+38k budget re-release) but after that they did the 4th in the main series and it did 138k so maybe the userbase is a bit bigger and Portable 2 does >100k

- Momotarou Dentetsu Tag Match: Yuujou - Doryoku - Shouri no Maki! PSP (15 July)
On the long run but yes, this has a good chance to do >100k, even >200k if it hits good.

- Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault PSP (22 July)
First PSP one did 104k plus 90k in its budget re-release. >100k chance.

- Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3rd Story DS (24 June)
Girls Side 2nd Season did 103k so there's that chance for the 3rd one.

- Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Dororon! Youkai Daikessen!! DS (1 July)
Next big Taiko. Both DS titles before did >500k.

- Bokujou Monogatari: Futago no Mura DS (8 July)
Long delayed Harvest Moon, still new Harvest Moon on DS, should do >100k maybe even >200k.

Any idea if this game was delayed because of financial year distribution? Seeing as marvelous seems to be dying slowly, and harvest moon is all they have left that keeps them breathing.

(just like success seems to be slowly dying with just welcome to sheep village giving them a faint lifeline)

Famitsu messed weekly sales at their site or is it my idea? They didn't give week 19/04/10-25/04/10 at all but instead they gave 26/04/10-02/05/10 which we should get combined with next week. Keep doing mistakes like these famitsu :D (if it was a mistake)

Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road Victory Wii (15 July)

Yeah I'm not sure about this one. On one hand its Dragon Quest and it seems to be a popular arcade game (though from Vinnk's anecdote maybe not so much anymore?), but on the other hand its basically a port with relatively simple mechanics from what I've read. Without knowing how popular the arcade version is, I'm pretty clueless. Any other jgaffers have any insight?

Does anyone have a list of Dragon Quest spin-off game sales? I would guess the games sell best when released shortly after a main game.

It should be noted that the Wii version is by no means a simple port. It has a full tournament mode where you create your own character avatar ala DQIX, and you get equipment to customize the character with from battles and so on. You can either use cards from the arcade game by using a cellphone or the DSiware app to scan them in, or you can find virtual cards in the game itself.

The game will also have a full online multiplayer mode, and Hori will be releasing an optional 12800yen controller for the game. There should be quite a bit of buzz and marketing behind the title, so if it fails to sell over 500k I will be very surprised honestly.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Thanks for pointing that out.....probably underselling things when I call it a simple port. I guess without being from Japan I can't really tell how popular the arcade version currently is and the initial impression of the title left me thinking this was more niche than something like DQ:S.
