I know those Pachislot games are super cheap and that the Fist of the North Star Sega Ages title sold well, but damn, who would have ever guessed its legs would be THIS good? It probably wont hit a million, but it'll end up in the upper 800s I'd bet.

Yeah, Pachislot has been surprising. 2004's been a fairly good year for videogames in Japan. The Pokemon games, Onimusha 3, Derby Stallion, Dragon Quest V, Winning Eleven 8 and now Jissen Pachislot. I hope Paper Mario 2 follows suit.

CVX, please include their respective times upon the sales market. IIRC, isn't Pikmin 2 selling at a faster rate?

Pikmin 1 had from the end of October 2001 to the beginning of 2003/end of 2002. So it took about 14 months and a week to achieve 500,000 sales. Here are the latest Famitsu sales figures for Pikmin 2 although updated ones are due today.

415,597 and it's still currently selling. It'll surely be at 500K by January 2005.

Spamfilters have taken over. :(

I need to get off my ass and use my Comcast account. It's right there, I used it to register onto GAF, but I hardly use it because of my FAQs. ;_;

Gamecube sales are beggining to taper off again after a two week surge. What is coming out in the near future, that could help save the momentum PM2 created?

Pretty much the only game is Virtua Fighter: Cyber Generation, but that's multiplatform.

and not to mention probably craptacular.

God Command Mission kind of Bombed on the cube. What's your take? I think installed base wise, its not too bad a percentage but legs is where its at. At those numbers, the ps2 sales of the title will quadruple the gc numbers in no time. What is up with Japanese cube owners?

The game in general is simply not that popular. The GC version isn't THAT far behind the PS2 version. I think when it's all said and done, the PS2 game will sell about 40,000 copies and the GC version will come at about 15,000-20,000. RockMan X Command Mission is just a game that the Japanese market in general does not want. Paper Mario 2 is also probably eating into the GC version's sales, since it's also a high profile RPG for Japanese owners.

Capcom probably doesn't really care that it didn't do that well in Japan, especially when it's western potential is particularly bright. Judging by Mega Man Anniversary Collection's sales, the GC is a well invested platform for Mega Man. If I were Capcom, I'd call for a port of Mega Man X8 to the GC, at least for the U.S. as well as a Mega Man X Anniversary Collection.

Oh well, I guess it's back to selling 4500 a week until then.

Does Gamecube have a short time exlcusive on that one, or are both versions coming out at the exact same time?

Nope, they're both out at the same time. Nintendo clearly expected Donkey Konga 2 and Paper Mario to carry them through the summer but it looks like things aren't so rosy this year.
