My hero, Zero, such a funny little hero,
But till you came along,
We counted on our fingers and toes.
Now you're here to stay
And nobody really knows
How wonderful you are.
Why we could never reach a star,
Without you, Zero, my hero,
How wonderful you are.

That's insane. Nintendo owns Japan.
The DS success is phenomenal, week after week it keeps breaking new records.

Nintendo will sell millions of Wii around the DS, just like Apple sells millions of peripherals around Ipod. Think about it.

Hopefully we'll see part 3 and 4 before the series is dead and gone.

.......

You know that majority of the fans of the series has already played the game on the GBA right....?

Everyone is just waiting for Gyakuten Saiban 4 in the land of the rising sun.

The DS/L broke the 12m mark this week!
L-T-D m-create: 12,062,092!!!
That's more than the original GBA, the GBC, the GBP, and just under the original Game Boy LTD!!

It took the PS2 184 weeks to reach 12m...
the DS nearly half that time in...102 weeks!!

Anyone remember, right before the DSL launch, an analyst predicting 10m LTD DS sales before X-mas (w/ch was crazy!)? Well, we're now 2 million passed that!!

DS '06 vs. DS '05: +4,378,099

Milestones:
* DS passes 12 million LTD this week

Possible milestones coming up:

* DS Lead YTD passes 5 million (next week)
* DS Lead LTD passes 8 million (probably week after next)
* PSP passes 1.5 million YTD (probably week after next)

I have :

DS : 6 410 895 / 12 057 847

I get the same by totalling my weekly numbers, but apparently Media-Create put out some LTDs earlier this year that showed the DS weekly totals as being 3 too high. Therefore, I arbitrarily subtract 3 from the DS total to match Media-Create's reported LTD. I leave my weekly counts untouched, though.

Saw some interesting photos at other sites. Large shipment of NDSL and Pokemans for Japan on 11/11. We may see a longer line buying NDSL than PS3 :p

Nice job, Nintendo. Japan (esp gameshops) is gonna explode tomorrow :lol

Wow @ 360 Hw numbers.

Who wants to bet that the console sells 30,000 units the week of Blue Dragon's release?

:lol

Anyway, the X360 sales are impressive.

I guess people in Japan finally figured out next gen already started, and they wont be able to get a PS3 until next year

No.

They just don't wait any online experience and find that Core pack suits them most :p

The usual

DSL at 36 weeks: 5.48M
GBASP at 36 weeks: 1.79M
Time for GBASP to reach 5.48M: 132 weeks

"DS after DSL" at 36 weeks: 482K
"GBA after SP" at 36 weeks: 477K
Time for "GBA after SP" to reach 482K: 37 weeks

DS at 36 weeks: 2.78M
PSP at 36 weeks: 1.61M
GBM at 36 weeks: 509K

The fact it took the core pack to put some pizzazz in the X360s step is nearly incomprehensible.

Although with two free games included, its understandable if the HDDs are available dirt-cheap, I guess.

Yeah, the MC totals through Apr 16/06 were:

PS2 - 19,208,840
PSP - 3,292,355
GBA - 8,822,044
GBASP - 5,793,250
GBM - 477,766
DS - 6,414,722
DSL - 827,737
GC - 4,137,238
XBX - 475,200
X360 - 107,855

You can just add the weekly totals since then for the overall totals.

Several of those totals from Apr 16/06 were a few units off from the weekly numbers. As far as I can tell, Media Create actually keeps all of their numbers to their complete calculations. That means that they keep them right down to the decimal points that they get from their formulas, and they only release the rounded off whole numbers to the public each week. That would be why their LTD totals can be a few units off here and there, because we are using rounded off numbers, whereas they keep their decimal points in their LTD totals. That would also explain why the LTD for software totals is often off by a unit from week-to-week.

Speaking of which, does anybody actually have any updated Media Create LTDs? I feel like I remember someone posting LTDs way later than April (I'm' talking about LTDs other than DS and PSP).

Well, I have them through Sept 17/06, but I haven't had time to update the past 5 or 6 weeks yet. If you want those, I'll post them, but I'm sure Fuzzy or Rock_Man or someone has the current numbers.

Now that we hav the LTD from April I can add up to some L-T-D:
PS2 - 19,921,688
NGC - 4,163,243*

*notice Nintendo shipments as of Sept 30th are 4.02m!!!...?
Can anyone explain why m-create is way over the official shipment figures?

They just tracked it too high. Probably during launch period, or during the holiday season, they overcalculated a couple weeks. I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but you could probably go back and compare with Famitsu week-by-week to see where the discrepancy arose, because Famitsu basically matches Nintendo's shipment numbers exactly for the Cube. So in this case, Famitsu was more accurate.

I hav 2001 Y-T-D for NGC:*
m-create - 1,129,653
famitsu - 925,926

and 2002 Y-T-D:
m-create - 1,191,605
famitsu - 1,034,748

2003:
m-c - 1,026,000 (don't hav exact)
fami - 1,039,677

2004
m-c - 696,865
fami - 608,163

2005
m-c - 290,403
fami - 305,000

2006 T-D
m-c - 82,232
fami - 83,922

*assuming they both don't include New Years week.

L-T-D
m-c: 4,416,758 uh-oh, why is my number even higher than those posted L-T-Ds?
fami: 3,997,436 fits perfectly w/ the official 4.02m shipped :) .

In different formats,
http://joshuajamesslone.name/gamecharting/MediaCreateBefore.txt (12K)
http://joshuajamesslone.name/gamecharting/MediaCreateBefore.sxc (26K)
http://joshuajamesslone.name/gamecharting/MediaCreateBefore.html (217K)

They're each some months out of date, but you're looking for old stuff anyway. I tried to patch together as complete a picture I could using GameFront, GameScience, and a bit of home console-only stuff that predates those from a GAF poster whose name I didn't take note of at the time I saved it in a text file.

Not really, remains to be seen with the Wii. Regardless, the PS3 will be selling much less than the PS2, the market they are going after in itself has shrinked a lot. The size of the box is dramatically bigger compared to Wii, too.
There's a 200+ preorder line that seems to indicate we've already begun to see the potential for Wii in Japan.

These are through Sept 17/06. I will be updating the totals soon, but just don't have time right now, so feel free to look up the past 5 or 6 weeks yourself to get the current totals. Keep in mind that the Apr 16/06 totals I posted before are accurate, but that everything since then is using the rounded off weekly totals, so if MC released the actual figures, a few of these numbers would probably be off a couple of units.

PS2 - 19,738,838
PSP - 3,995,435

GBA - 8,822,725
GBASP - 5,888,812
GBM - 538,085
DS - 6,579,016
DSL - 4,445,542
GC - 4,158,887

XBX - 475,534
X360 - 142,515

Er... the series is not dying or going away. It was an extremely strong seller on the GBA, part 1 was an extremely strong seller on the DS (cause it got a new case)... you're predicting doom and gloom for the series just because a straight port of the second installment (without a new case being added) isn't lighting up the sales charts?

Does anyone have the PSP software LTD
