Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
When does PS3 Assassin's Creed hit? Mario Galaxy holding steady. Might be gaining some traction

LAYYYTTOOOONNNN!!

Also very happy about DQIVr still there. It'll easily hit 1M and deserves it.

I think SMG will get the legs curse. It didn't sell smashingly, but it'll stick to the 30-40K mark for months.

I'm sort of wondering how the original Layton charted twice.
Because the game is just that awesome.

The Wii Sports/Play numbers are indicating to me that there was significantly less than 70,000 Wiis sold this week unless Wii Fit has supplanted purchases of Wii Sports.

Woot, go Layton!
SMG, you are our seed of hope, blooming in barren desert, dont give up! DQ4 million seller here we come!

Also guys.. Layton itself is more of a puzzle game than an actual "hardcore" game so you can stop waving your flags of freedom :lol

Galaxy seems to have legs, wasn't it #11 last week as well?
Yes and judging by what number 10 has done in both of those weeks that means SMG LTD is about 430K.

Hang in there, Galaxy! Hopefully its position is an indication of strong legs, although it's obviously too early to make that claim.

I was going to say, it's pretty funny if people actually hold up Layton as some sort of beacon of hardcore gaming hope over Wii Fit :p

Assassin's Creed charted? For 360??!!! Holy macaroni!

Also I'm happy about Super Mario Galaxy... hopefully it will have some some legs and stay in the top 30 for a long while.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

Nintendo undershipped Wii Fit or we'll cop huge numbers for it next M-C thread?

Yep it was only 1 maybe 2 days, plus a game like Wii Fit will have legs as more word of mouth gets around like Brain Training.

I wouldn't worry about Wii Fit's potential for legs. It's a genius concept that consumers generally wouldn't trade in once they bought it (since the 'game' doesn't finish).

I am somewhat pleasantly surprised at Prof Layton's debut. What did the first one do in it's first week?

So this beat Layton 1's first week right? It's selling so well again it's taking up two spots on the charts!

If you remember, Halo 3 charted at #1 and didn't make the top 30 the next week.

AC sales on 360 is a good sign for healthy sales of Uncharted and AC on PS3. I think generally multi-platform games on PS3 seem to have outsold their 360 counterparts by about 50% on average.

Actually I believe Famitsu had Wii Sports at like 27K or so..so basically Wii Fit did probably supplant some purchases of of Wii Sports.

Yeah, this was mentioned in the other Media Create thread, but WiiFit's numbers are even more impressive when you consider it's 2 days of sales vs. the traditional 4 for Layton and other opening week titles (as in, it's matched SMG's opening week in half the time), plus that it sold about 85% of its rumored 300K shipment in those same 2 days (and is presumably sold out now). Those are really good sales numbers.

And I guess GAF takes its saviors where it can - puzzle games over non-games :lol

Wow, Layton is here to stay! :D

and with Wii fit, Wii Sports and Wii Play out, I think it would be reasonable to expect that the Wii's hardware numbers will stabilize well above the 30-40k we've been seeing inthe past wek weeks.

also nice to see that the 360 user base took interest in something so "Western" (I don't think I can even remember when anything Ubisoft made charted in the top 10)

Someone explain to me why retailers preordered 700k SMG and 300K WiiFit.
Because the Wii Fit boxes are bigger than most apartments in Japan.

Wii Fit didn't destroy gaming as we know it. Three cheers!

Also, Wii Japan doomed? More at eleven.

Nice opening for WiiFit and decent legs now for Mario Galaxy and Mario and Sonic.

Big drop off for Winning Eleven on both PS2 and PS3.

Assassins Creed may do ok next week when Lost Odyssey boosts hardware. Decent opening week, I still expect it to take a major nosedive though. PS3 version hits Jan 31st, Ubisoft officially suck balls.

Other then that, uneventful week.

Well anyway, any game that can chart twice under the same name as a consecutive integer in a chart is awesome by my standards.

Just adding some notes here:

- Professor Layton 2 did well. I'm not sure if it will reach a million, but it should get above the first games LTD.
- Media-Create hates Super Mario Galaxy.
- Obligatory "legs" post for every game that has Wii, Training, and Mario in the title.
- Dragon Quest IV will be the DS' next million seller, just a guess.
- Something about Nintendo doing well or something.
- Naruto and Disgaea both bombed.
- Mario Party 8 = million seller eventually, again, just a guess.
- I'm going to guess that MegaMan Starforce 2 outsells the first Starforce games, they always seem to have good legs.
- Isn't this the best debut for a Gundam game in a while?
- Is Ubisoft really stupid* or did Microsoft use what they are famous for to the the game exclusive in Japan for a while?

* = yes that is rhetorical.

Layton isnt a puzzle game.

PantherLotus

Layton = bankable franchise.
WiiFit = WiiSports (maybe)

Also:
The thing I've been watching lately is that the Wii seems to be getting closer and closer to a reliable 6-7-8 count on charting titles. Let me make a chart out of it. BRB!

Why do you say that?

Great debut for WiiFit, and AC does just about what I expected it to do. Next week should be pretty interesting with Uncharted, Lost Odyssey, and VF360 all releasing.

Did this also release for the Wii?

If it did, and didn't make the top 30, then the Wii is definitely the non-gamer machine. This, and the fact Mario Galaxy isn't even in the top 10, proves that console gaming is dead in Japan.

If the game is selling only 95,000 on PS2, then I am sure the Wii version is not charted in the top 30.

I doubt Wiifit breaks a million. It's way too expensive to be mass market.

8800yen is only 2000yen more expensive than your typical PS2 game. Besides, it's sold out everywhere or the price is inflated like crazy (150% more expensive than RRP).
