I'm surprised at a few things...

For starters, Layton has become a hugely succesful brand.

Two, Where is Chrono Trigger? It had a great debut. Supply issues again?

Three, it looks like Animal Crossing will go the distance on the Wii as well.

PS3 sales seem to have been stabilized into decent numbers

nope, not really

for reference, wii is also down YOY but seems to be roughly ramping up the same right now... although with no wii fit on the horizon this year, it won't spike anywhere near as high:

Wow at fallout 360 actually charting. The PS3 version could do like 100k which would be very impressive for a foreign game.

I guess it is getting a delayed PS3 release like Oblivion. PS3 Fallout is coming out Jan 19 next year.

Seriously, a few months of near/sub 10K sales, and how quickly we lower our standards. 30K is now "decent" holiday #s? Decent if poor sales are the goal, perhaps.

360 has a very specific audience for games like that - Halo, Gears, etc.

The PS3/360 split wouldn't be the same as PES if both versions released.

Thank you. It's driving me crazy how people keep saying "decent for PS3" or "looks like it has stabilized" when its doing worse than last year :lol

Professor Layton and Animal Crossing are doing well.
428 is considered good for a story game on Wii I guess. (40/40 helps a bit?)

looks like the yearly sales for DS is catching up the PSP after all. the diff is about 120k after this week?

I see you put in January 1 for both years. It automatically picks the next week starting on/after that, which doesn't always make for the best matchup. Since 2007's numbers begin on January 1 while 2008's begin on January 7, they're almost a full week off. These match up a bit better:
2007-12-31

2007-12-31

Which makes both look worse. Wii's a week behind on the rampup and so on.

These aren't holiday #s. They are a bit higher than normal weeks (mainly due to important games being released), but nowhere near the typical holiday push. Starting with next weeks numbers, the holiday season should start

Eh, numbers definitely start ramping up starting now. You're right that next week is when it really begins- PS3 did 63K last year.

Really? Well, holiday #s shorter lived in Japan than I thought, do they run through January much? Going by those charts, it looks like they don't even run through the last two weeks of December.

Holy fucking god, you'd think LocoRoco was a NiGHTS game with numbers like that. :/

So what will be the next Wi 3rd party bomb?

I say TvC next week (but I think Taiko Drum will do well)

I hope this is the case, i mean that the developers/publishers didnt have too high expecations for the game and maybe they will still break even or maybe even make some money on the newest Klona game for the Wii when it is all said and done. I dont like it when games bombs, especially not games like Klonoa, since it is a pity for the developer and the publishers :(

Hey, LR2 sold something like 1.5k first day. That's not too bad for the first week!

:(

Klonoa :/

Apparently, and according to that same source 27K was sold first day, which makes the 34K number a bit surprising, honestly.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.

About 114,556 with the data we have now.

Klonoa 1 - 48k first week, 112k lifetime (Famitsu, Captain Smoker)
Klonoa 2 - 33k first week, 74k lifetime (Famitsu, Garaph)
Klonoa GBA - 15k first week, 50k lifetime (Famitsu, Garaph)

what a good trajectory this franchise has.

The second to last week is usually the biggest week of the year and the first week of january the second best. So we can say that the next four weeks are holiday numbers.
