20K 1st week. 40K LTD.

Wii version did 3K first week, so this is a big improvement! :D :lol

I'm interested in 428 but is it the sort of game that needs a TV to play well?
Would it still work on... let's say... a DS?

So, no shipments numbers for Klonoa?

we only get shipment numbers attached to some of the first-day numbers (which didn't include them for klonoa this week) and the recent new leaks, which are absent this week. :(

... but whatever they shipped, 5k is a bomb!

It has become common to see Western games in the top 10, cool.

Don't know much about the rest of the country, but CT is pretty hard to find here in Fukuoka, new or used. My friends wanted to buy a copy and we had to hit up 3 different stores before finding one.

Girls Mode is really popular here. I noticed that there's a magazine for it now, where fashion designers show off their creations in the game and give comments about various things. That's mainstream appeal.

What if it only shipped 10k?!

WTF @ Fallout 3.. It's a first person game and I thought Japanese people got motion sickness at the very sight of them. PLUS it's an American style RPG. PLUS it's on the fucking 360!

Holy shit.

Fuck you, Japan. I'll be buying Klonoa day one, bitches.

If it's $30 or less, that is.

After the first three, I'd expect them to wisen up that the series just doesn't sell. And I know for first two their expectations were stupidly too high(it's Namco after all).

then they managed to realize it was a bomb before they shipped to retailers rather than afterwards. good on them, that'd be a startling improvement for namco ;)

Man the 3rd party bombs on the Wii are starting to get pretty sad. Especially since a lot of them are good games.

Hopefully DQX announcement would preempt more core gamers to buy the system. (It'll be too late when its release 2011, 2012). Cause other wise until MH3 is release to build up that core gamer fanbase mid tier 3rd party games are pretty much sent to die on the system.

You can switch to a third person view but it ain't pretty. I can see it selling to the Gears of War/Oblivion niche.

We've been seeing an unprecedented amount of Western games chart on the PS3/360. This is most likely a symptom of limited Japanese games being released on the HD twins.

isn't there a lot of western people in Japan ? US soldiers , embassies employees , guys living there like Sporks-sama ? (since I saw alot of pictures of US soldiers in Japan buying Halo 3 last years ) , not that I mean Japanese don't buy western games or hate them or anything but I think huge percent of that number went to foreign people who live in japan .

It's not fair :p
Then again everyone and their mother already have DS' so it all evens out in the end.

Because it is. They could have pulled these kinds of numbers on any of the other consoles. The point for releasing on the Wii was it was supposed to pull in bigger numbers.

Perhaps this means a PS3 port in 10 months.
Except 428 roughly did in 1 week what Imabikisou did LTD. Not that it makes 428 a big success story or anything but what is your rationale behind expecting similar numbers on PS360?

Liabe Brave said:
I agree, my point was just that PS3's underperformance versus last year around this time is partially due to pricing. (Its underperformance the rest of the year isn't, though.) That doesn't mean that it's ever going to rise above a distant second place, almost exactly akin to Gamecube.
I see, thanks for the clarification.

Huh? Oblivion did 45k the first week on a much smaller userbase. Fantasy > SciFi?

Not sure if it's me, my links, or I'm insane, but I'm not seeing anything nearly an hour and a half later than normal this time of year.

Famitsu data is out. Doesn't really help with the OP, but that's something! :lol

The most relevant question of this week's Media Create (and maybe it's been addressed) but..

Why does PantherLotus do the Japanese Media Create charts, yet have a SNSD Avatar? They're not Japanese.

Would appreciate any observations or insights from J-Gaffers on how Japanese gamers generally view positive Famitsu reviews, if they see them as untrustworthy as many do on GAF.

Patapon 2 seems to do it better than Patapon 1 (Patapon 1 got a LTD of 20,687) while LocoRoco 2 seems to do it worse than LocoRoco 1. LocoRoco 1 got a LTD of 154,816. It took about 4-5 months to reach that number though (LocoRoco 1 sold 32,634 copies the 1st week), so maybe LocoRoco 2 can do it better than what it did the 1st week (5100 copies sold) atleast. I dont think it will match LocoRoco 1's LTD, but i think it can reach somewhere between 30-50k atleast, but we'll see what happends :)

Thanks to garaph.info for these numbers and thanks dabra for posting the latest Famitsu number! :)

EDIT: Was LocoRoco 1 bundles with some PSP by the way? I find it atlittle strange that sequel only sells 5800 copies (atleast in the first week) when the previous game in the serie sold about 154,000, and both games are on the same system.
