Quick thoughts:

1. WOW DISSIDIA ALMOST HALF MILLION WOWEE
2. But the DS sold 100k more than the PSP did, still.

3. WOW GUNDAM PS3 HOLY SHIT WOWEEE
4. But the PS3 only sold 39k. Seriously? That means, precisely, that nearly everybody who ever wanted a PS3 in Japan...already has one.

5. WOW @ Wii numbers. Hitting 131k is pretty good for a console. I'd like to see second/third year numbers for consoles during the holidays, to see where it ranks.
6. HOLY FUCKING SHIT AT DSi and DS (it's called DS+ in all my charts)!!!

Even Dissidia can't give the PSP a weekly victory, however. DSi is definitely a game changer.

Dissidia should sell over 1 million copies, which is amazing for the PSP. And Kirby continues to have an amazing run.

Last year for 12/17-23, Wii did 233K. Of course it was at the beginning of Wii Fit mania, but still.

Impressive how much the PS3 and 360 are now rather consistent in higher sales since what we used to see a few months ago.

I expected better from Prince of Persia, and it's only in the top on 360.

How much did Crisis Core sell in its first week? Did we get any more numbers for Tatsunoko VS Capcom?

Nice to see Dissidia doing such good numbers. I have hope for it passing the one-million mark, joining the ranks of the Monster Hunters. On the other hand, I thought it would be enough to keep the DS from winning the YTD. Alas, DSi is too powerful.

Re: PS3..that's not impressive at all. This is the heart of the holiday season. It sold 58K last year at this time. PS3 08 is going to end up worse than 07. Not impressive at all.

Well, right now, it's more like the holiday rush.
I'd say wait till about the 2nd to 3rd week in January to really judge.

Tatsunoko VS Capcom, where are you?!

And great numbers for everyone all around (except for CG Tales of Hearts :lol )

Oh, and Let's Tap ;_;

Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...
Hmmm...
ToH (anime) only managed ~19k till the end of the week after the first day. Not a great sign (yeah, it's only 2 days more, but still, big shopping time).
Kirby might actually have another million seller if it can make use of the next big week.
Suikoden's sales impressed me.

Dissidia has a good advantage of having another big week next week. Might be able to pull to a million, though I think it'll top out between 700 and 800k

Have you ever heard of Holiday spikes? Don't you think there's a reason why every single console is WAY up compared to previous weeks, and that Software sales are also WAY up compared to other weeks? Come back in late January and we'll see if the PS3 is above 30k (very doubtfull that it will if you didn't take my hint).

Oh and I as I predicted in the other thread, everyone who were interested in Dissidia already bought the PSP a long time ago.

Here's a prediction of what Kagari's first post in next week's m-create will look like:

How long until Animal Crossing hits one million ? Any guesses ?
Hard to say. We're pretty much at the peak sales time now, so things can drop fast. At the equivalent week last year, Super Mario Galaxy sold 110K for a total of 680K. However, it then slowed down quite a bit. It hit 800K two weeks later, but didn't hit 900K for several months, and still hasn't passed a million. I'm betting AC has stronger legs, though.

PantherLotus said:

Yeah, that is... pretty low for a big late December week. (I don't think it's going to catch up to 2007, MacPhail.)

Ehhh, it's decent but not great. Obviously bigger than what it's done recently, but even holiday-strong GCN was getting near 100K in the equivalent week of its third holiday. In both its third and fourth holidays in this equivalent week, PS2 was in the 150-160K range. Nowhere near what Wii did last year, either, but that's the norm for most systems recently.

Of course comparing anything to DS in late 2006 is just asking for embarrassment. :)

Just want to say this is quite an amazing number, for this series to still have such a dedicated fan base. And that I'm contributing to the sales.

Isn't AC playing to a much broader audience then Mario Galaxy? Not sure how it is being marketed in Japan but I know in the US and UK the advertisements and sales are aimed squarely at those who want Wii Fit and Wii Sports, something Mario Galaxy was not pushed toward

I wanted to point to Wild World and say "Definitely Animal Crossing has bigger legs!", but then I realized that Wild World sitting under a Mario game on the DS list kinda harmed that point a bit.

Poor poor "Let's Tap". Such an awesome idea, but that probably'll kill any chance of a US release...

The bulk of the holiday bump is off by the second week of the year, but yeah, there's a lesser downward slope into February.

I guess that depends on your definition of "game"...

On another note, I'm curious to see how REmake does this week. It sold quite a bit less originally on GC than Zero so in theory it should have a bigger audience. Maybe 1st week numbers between Zero and RE4?
