The hell is GT5P Spec III ?

GT5 prologue with all the updates being bundled with a ps3. If they can get away with this, it makes you wonder when they'll release the full game already.

Looks like the DS just squeaked by the PSP for the year. That was a hard fought battle over there this year.

Why the bump? WKC was last week..?

Japanese new year. They have a tradition called Otoshidama, where kids get money, followed by the spending of said money on games. I think it might be a bigger holiday for shopping than Christmas over there.

I was actually gonna ask if GT5 was released yet. How long has this prologue been out now? Also why are you a junior member? I was under the impression you've been around for a while.

The numbers you quoted, discounted DSi sales. And the total numbers are lower than last weeks

This are the numbers posted last week by the OP

| NDS | 3,946,585 | 25,119,635 |

| PSP | 3,693,026 | 11,358,103 |

.........

As I mention in my previous post, I think it is not due to DSi sales not being counted, but just an incorrect update (old YTD numbers).

No such bump for Nintendo systems though... wonder why.

Rhythm Tengoku is doing insanely well. Word of mouth at work here. I was talking to a friend's friend over the New Year, and when they found out I like games they asked "Oh, do you have Rhythm Tengoku? I'm addicted." Quite bizarre to hear stuff like that from casual gamers :)
Have you, or Vinnk, seen many copies of the re-issued RT GBA around?

This graph shows the cumulative hardware sales for one year back, calculated for every week since launch. PSP was ahead of DS for a short time last year, but DS has now stabilized at ~4 million while PSP is currently decreasing. It shouldn't come as a surprise that both Wii and PS3 are going in the wrong direction.

do we have any LTD numbers for GT5P for japan?

(Garaph numbers)

GT5p - 202k as of February. It'll be in the 2008 top 500 so when we get that this summer we'll get a total lifetime number.

GT5p Spec. III - 153k as of beginning of December. Might be in the annual top 100 so we'd get an update as of then.

Both were still selling when we lost track of them, so I'd imagine the total is over 400k.

There´s no reason to count them together, since the new numbers are from Prologue:III and not from GTPrologue:II or GT5:prologue.

It's not Prologue III, it's GT5: Prologue Spec III, big difference. The same demo with a few updates, so it certainly is not unfair to count its total towards the other.

Edit: too late. :/

Were there any Weekly Total Software sales from Dengeki last week?

Love the SDF getting into battle stance because they think he's laughing at the sales.
To be fair, i think that would have happend to almost any game regardless on which platform it is on in a sales thread if someone thought that a person was laughing at the sales if the sales are ok/good. So i am not sure this exactly has too much to do with the SDF, but who knows :) But in this case A Link to the Snitch was most likely laughing at that it said that White Knight Chronicles was for NDS and not laughing at the sales :)

Yeah, Wii Music will leave the 2008 top 30 sooner or later, for sure. Doh.

Well it was #29 last week in regular sales numbers. I would not be surprised if it moved up 1-3 positions next week.

It's the holiday season, charts get delayed, we get weekly/first day numbers from Famitsu/Dengeki/MC and also Full year charts. It's a total mess, but its over. Things will be back to way they were now.

Still, I fail to see how, given we now have the figures for the last week of the year, anything would change.

I believe Prologue was released at the end of March 2008 in EU and somewhere in April in the US. It doesn't sound long, but I've heard they've been working on GT5 for a really long time, like 3 years at least.

Hehe, you've noticed. I was a member not too long ago. I made a stupid thread about senior/junior comparison and I made a joke there. Apperantly some admin/mod didn't laugh about it and now I'm a junior. Hopefully it's just a reset timer and I can become a member again. If not, then I'll have to stick with it.

The game is sold separately as well :)

Most of those Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III numbers we seen in the charts are most likely from the PS3 hardware bundle though. I think that i see your point about not counting them together, since if the Spec III version wasnt bundled, then it probably wouldnt have sold as much as it has done so far, is that what you mean?

That's what Sony get for leaving the PS3 without games that appeal to the Japanese for prolonged periods of time. It's a shame that despite getting an exclusive MGS4 the PS3 was unable to beat last years totals...

Still happy with WKC sales though, nice job Level 5.
