Thank God the Japanese have come round to Galaxy. Seriously.
That's exactly how every Mario platformer goes in Japan. New Super Mario Brothers was consistently in the top 10 for well over a year, I believe.

Edit: And there it is again at 13. I suppose Mario has to have legs to jump that high. (groan)

11. [NDS] Mario Kart DS (Nintendo)

wow
And it deserves it. It's going to be so hard to beat DS when the next Mario Kart comes out.

Yeah, but NSMB landed with an almighty punch to the face. Galaxy had a more modest start.

I agree with this sentiment. Had Mario Galaxy actually bombed, that would have been awful.

Yes, but it also had a huge first week, not a heartbreaking near-death.

MKDS' legs are just insane. It'll get past 3 million when it's all said and done.. easily. That's a great drop for FFIV as well -- definitely on its way to at least 750k which will be a very solid figure.

So, which shall sell more in the end, Crisis Core or FFIV?
It'd be easy to say FFIV, but even though Crisis Core isn't placing, it's certainly at least selling a nominal amount and should for some time. It'll be hard to catch up to it although I expect FFIV comes very close.
