I can't wait to see hardware sales for the Lite and the corresponding software sales.
Anyone know how many units they are shipping?

Amazing Monster Hunter sales. I see a new franchise taking off. With Monster Hunter Portable and this doing amazing in the charts.

MH2 has not sold as much as I'd been led to believed by Sinobi's blog, but it's still doing pretty well. It will probably go on to sell around the same numbers as the PSP game, so Capcom must be thrilled with how the series is doing.

My god...

Being that games come out on Thursday's in Japan, that's about 4 days worth of sales. Holy shit where did this game come from? What the hell is happening. Does some uber-marketing campaign kick off? Japanese GAFFers, talk to me -- what's up with MH?

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Yay! Something else is #1. :lol

Boo @ Bleach RPG outselling Bleach DS.

What really makes the MH2 sales so remarkable is that it sold that much even with MH PSP taking away some of it's thunder. The PSP and console versions look and play similar, so they both obviously hate away at each other's appeal -- and yet they both will surpass 500,000.

MH:G doubled its debut week in LTD sales and MH:F has quadrupled...so MH2 will probably handily outsell it handily if its anywhere near as successful.

Who wants to bet that the entire top ten for the first week of March will be DS?

I mean, Brain Training, Brain Training 2, English Training, Children of Mana, Gentle Brain Exercises, Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World will definitely be on the top ten, and Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop might make it too.

But for the month of March, I guarantee that ACWW will come close to 2.5 million, BT2 will break 1.8 million, BT will either break 2 million or come close, and English Training will either break 1 million or come close.

Monster Hunter has become a huge series. I really didn't expect this. Good for Capcom though; they release some killer games, so it's good to see them succeed.

Animal Crossing's legs are just amazing. It's another series that has totally exploded in Japan recently. I wouldn't be suprised if it sells another 100,000 during the DS Lite's launch week.

Holy Crap @ English Training. Impressive legs

NDS software is still seeing huge sales even with no hardware out there to purchase. Monster Hunter numbers are incredible. Capcom must be very happy.

With a new Gundam game out, I seriously doubt that, but it'll be a close thing, that's for sure.

So did Monster Hunter Portable finally become the best selling PSP game in Japan?
Yes, last week in fact.

How come we got the console numbers at the same time as the software numbers last week, but not this week?

And can someone help me out here?

Can I get a list of all the "Training" games that are out (or announced) in Japan currently and what their announced US and European titles are? I'm just a little confused about it.

Predictions:

30k PS2
22k PSP
5k NDS
7k GBM
4k GBASp
3k GC
2k Xbox360
90 GBA
80 XBox
Well if the reports were correct about shipments for the DS resuming after Chinese New Year were correct it should be at least higher than last week's 10K. 15K maybe?

That would be because Next-Generation posted the full chart (and made a mistake like they almost always do) last week.

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
I predict 500k+ DS's (Normal and Lites) sold when the DS Lite launch :lol

Wow the training games keep on selling, how boring. ;)

Monster Hunter PSP looks like it is up week over week. Where is Izzy to gloat? :D I wonder where MH Portable will stop, it is selling around 15-25K a week for a long time.

I think it got a boost from last week, no idea where it'll end up, maybe 700k? Very impressive considering the userbase is 3m.

I'd also expect to see an explosion in DS software sales when Lite is released. It'll probably end up as holidays no. 2, I can see AC selling 200k that week.

Cool ... Nintendo and Capcom are my two favorite companies, so I'm glad to see them back with a vengance the last few months.

DS Lite is going to be utter domination though. 500k isn't going to be enough.

When Animal Crossing hits 2+ million, it'll join Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Pokemon as the only franchises in Japan that can do that right now.

Don't forget Brain Training :)

Yeah Brian Training 1 + Gentle Brain Training's combined sales will probably topple 3 million.

It's the biggest franchise in Japan since Pokemon.

I guess the big question now is can Nintendo come up with a new franchise like that for Revolution? They had Pokemon all those years on Game Boy, but it didn't help N64/GameCube much.

holy crap @ monster hunter.

Software top 10 is finally seeing some semblemce of balance so that's always nice.

And about the DS Lite first shipment...I'm fully expecting every last one of those to be sold and another shortage by the end of this month :D

Brain Training and Brain Training 2 will do 2m each as well as Animal Crossing (which will do 3m)...

The scary thing with all the DS million sellers is the DS userbase in the overall scheme of things isn't even that big in Japan yet.

They're only at about 5 million installed base ... imagine when they get to 10-20 million. Yikes.

I dunno about 3 mill for Animal Crossing ... it's gotta slow down at some point ... right? Heh.

Well it's just over 6m now I think. It'll be at 7m by end of March and 8m by end of May!
