Looks like another slow boil for tamagochi

Two years ago, 65k in sales a week for any game would have hardly been considered "slow". There were multiple top tens back then that barely cracked 80k in TOTAL sales cumulatively.

no one has pointed it out yet, but More Brain Training crossed 3 million this week.

Nintendo seriously needs to make a 2D Mario on the Wii. With sales like this and how cheap/easy for development, they have no excuse!

3. (DS, Nintendo) DS Cuisine Navigator - 55,759 / 346,719

If it keeps selling, hope for it to come to the US or Europe?

5. (DS, Nintendo) Animal Crossing Wild World - 41,813 / 3,119,108

Like Lazarus, when you think it is dead it just comes alive again.

7. (GBA, Nintendo) Rhythm Tengoku - 29,911 / 88,089

Kobun Heat will be happy with this.

Can someone tell me how Animal Crossing got such a boost in sales these past couple weeks?

As Deku explained, a new advertising campaign was launched in Japan recently.

Barf_the_Mog

powerless or are they? o_O
But why? Diminishing returns would argue that the cost of advertising might outweigh the benefits. The sales obviously speak for themself, but it was still a risk, don'tcha think?

Because they want the movie (which is due at of year) to be a multi-million super megaton hit. They want MOMENTUM!

Yes, and as we all know, Nintendo is all about the sure thing, like the DS.

Nintendo probably really already should just take the Animal Crossing GC engine, add a bunch of new features, characters from the movie, and 24/7 (which in itself would be a huge addition) functionality and have Animal Crossing 24/7 for the Wii this holiday season in Japan.

I hear people say Animal Crossing needs a "new engine" ... a new engine for what? The Sims has so many games that run off the same engine because people like that basic engine and are familiar with it.

Truely astonishling! I think FF III will give it a big boost. I'm predicting over 150k this week with suppsoed big shipment of DSL systems.

Maybe it will reach 3 million by the next MC sales week??

You never know, I'd imagine a good number of new DS owners will pick it up as a 2nd game. A quick fix when you're not in the mood for FF perhaps. If it does, there will be 3 titles over 3m in the top 10 and each still selling extremely well.

I am shocked at Pokemon Ranger. Usually the spinoffs don't last this long, do they?

Anyone spend any time with it, btw?

Well, people were lining up in the hundreds the day before the game even comes out, so... yeah... I'd say that's fair. :)

Amazing. Just amazing. Could NSMB possibly hit 4million by the end of the year?
Possibly? That's pretty much in the bag.

It seems to be a decent game, but you have to sacrifice your hand for it.

I honestly think that it has an outside chance of hitting 4.5 million by the end of the year.

I know that sounds crazy, but had I said that NSMB would be at 3million just 13-weeks after release, I would have been locked up.

There really is know way to say what the game willend up at, nor how it will do this holiday seson. If it has any sort of revival around the holidays, it could hit retarded levels.

You know, now that I'm thinking about it, how many people here think it could come close to the "monster"?

Super Mario Brothers-6.81million

13weeks, 3million. Insane.

Q for anyone who lives in Japan:

Is the advertising for NSMB really HUGE? I mean, having played the game myself, I really wouldn't HIGHLY recommend it to anyone around me. Yeah it's a long time since the last 2D Mario platformer, and yeah I enjoyed the game, but still it's not 3-million seller material in my eyes. Looks at those sales numbers, it seems that every person picking up the DS Lite is picking up NSMB also. Why the rage?
