Animal Crossing Increases (stock replenished), others have moderate drop offs, Mario Strikers starts solid, DS sells more hardware than others but still under massive shortages...

And I do believe this is the first week, certainly since 2001 if not since launch that no PS2 games made the top 10 !!

How did GAF let next gen beat them to the punch with these numbers? This news is supposed to be posted at GAF first, with next gen stealing it. ;)

63.000 with no stock ... excuse me but

It's really only 10,000 units higher than last week, when we know that DS was in deep shortage. It's conceivable that the DS could go over 63k in the next week or two.

It's called "DS is out of stock" hon'.

PSP has thought leadership in Japan heading into Feb 2006!

I wonder if we'll start to see a ton of Monster Hunter clones on PSP in the future. Game sales for Monster Hunter Portable are crazy delicious.

Is it safe to say Nintendo now has a more or less monopoly over video game software sales?

No. Compelling PS2/PSP software is not available right now.

Still,

KH 2 is still pretty new compared to many DS games in the top 10. That game isn't compelling?

I think Brain Training franchise is huge in Japan already.
Combined sales of these three games = 3,360,057
And if you consider that the first game came out on 05/19/2005 then you will understand what a huge number its combined sales is.
I think their sales can reach 4 million mark just in a year.
4 milion sales of a franchise in Japan in a year = wooow

CGI bullshit is the death knell of cinema
Great figures so far, wonder how resident evil will continue however in the coming weeks.

Ouch, your right. When did KH2 come out?
Sony really should be in panic mode for the PSP.

ioi, where are these numbers come from?? :)
Now that you mention it, Media Create hasn't updated the site, so I'm wondering this as well.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Can anyone say how Strikers compared to recent Mario Sports titles in Japan, like Baseball, Tennis, Golf?

That looks good, but I expected more on a worldwide basis, really.
Except NA, which it did really well.
