Actually, if I remember correctly the sales of NSMB this week reflects what most people believed it was going to do its opening week :lol

New Super Mario Bros. is on the verge of outselling Mario Kart DS ... which would be the first time a Mario platformer has outsold a Mario Kart game in Japan on the same platform I believe.

These numbers are basically the ones Neo posted in the other thread. (which at that time were unconfirmed) so whoever leaked those had them right.

So going by those numbers.. DS+DSL Hardware took a big hit. ~140K this week.

Compared to all other ds software that sold an ass load of (brain training, smb, animal crossing etc), that is pretty bad. I don't even see it having legs like tetris has right now.

I'll be Monorojo this week:

First off, I'm sure those games for PSP will cause a nice blip in sales. And remember this isn't a week-long war, its a five year struggle, PSP has legs, DS looks to be riding a gaming-wheelchair very soon. Basically, Nintendo is screwed. The high sales of games/system will eventually cause a shortage that will cause PSP sales to surpass the DS three-fold what the DS is surpassing the PSP now. Then they'll go third party and Pokemon will become a PSP exclusive. Color Phantom Hourglass cancelled, too bad. I love Nintendo though.

As I expected, NSMB fell sharply. It really proves that there are very few traditional DS gamers; around 1.5 overall, according to the most scientific estimates.

Very impressive. SE is no doubt pleased, and I'm positive this will lead to future support. A FFXIII port perhaps? Highly likely.

Metroid is not big in japan, FPS are not big in japan so eh... I ain't really surprised it performed like that in the charts.

E&N says Metroid Prime sold 43K the first week back in 2003 but Game-Science doesn't go that far back.
