i bought the training game too.. it was only 19.99 so why not :p it's cheap and i'm a zelda fan.. I got a few days enjoyment out of it, and i'm sure i'll boot it up every once in awhile.

because it is one of the best games on the Wii.

Actually yeah, I don't normally pop into these things. Just shocked it's selling like it is... man japan is weird... How much do they charge for it there?

Just a note- this week included part of Golden Week which helps to explain the high numbers (and will explain the hardware numbers tomorrow...well, except for PS3)

Welcome to Media Create Threads. One of the first things you should know is that in Japan Wii Sports is not packaged with the Wii Hardware, it is a seperate (and very popular) title.

I belive it was 4000yen. 4200? I don't remember. Less than the cost of most Wii games. About $40 give or take.

Not a shot; Famitsu has it at 8.5K...so I'd look kind of dumb to say there was a hardware bump for the PS3 now wouldn't I? ;)

26/30, damn. What's the record?

I think I remember seeing 29/30. That was back when the DSL was selling 120K+ units a week.

But they did all buy it!

Sorry, that was just plain mean. I know the Sony fanbase is bigger than that. It was just the first thing that came to mind.

Japan has some wierd tastes but you can bet Wii Sports would be selling even better over west if it wasnt pack in, well more than Japan I mean, you cant beat forced bundles

I honestly don't think its that horrible given the install base. Don't get me wrong, its not good..but it could have been worse IMO.

wtf is beautiful character training

also, anyone know the sales of individual XBLA or VC titles? wondering how well Sin & Punishment (vc) and Rez, Ikaruga (XBLA) have done.

The 'H' stands for hentai.

Considering a couple of things about this game
-A big budget RPG
-Tailored for a Japanese audience with a very Japanese artstyle and gameplay
-Different spin on the Strategy RPG subgenre
-Good heritage (people from Skies of Arcadia and Sakura Taisen)
-Lots of coverage on Famitsu.com
-Released when there are no other quality RPG's to compete with (WKS and FF13 is a long ways away)

The sales don't look bad, they look TERRIBLE.

Beautiful Character Training lets you practice Kanji, IIRC. I'd be cautious of actually wanting to see S&P sales figures though... I love it too much to be hurt. Same goes for Ikaruga, though I have a feeling sold better (16:10 tate support go go go! Seriously, buy a rotating monitor, it's wonderful).

you joke, but in 5 years when Japan launches WW3, their citizens are going to be superior to us in communications (English Training), tactics (Brain Training), combat (Crossbow Training), and Dinosaur Necromancy (We're Fossil Diggers)

we're already doomed

I just want to say that CVX apparently had a brilliant idea adding last week's hardware sales to the thread before the new hardware sales are released, fantastic idea and a great way to keep the OP looking fairly standard all along, I really appreciate that touch, great job!

Ok, but its still a new IP on a floundering system where software sales are generally extremely poor. It should have done better no doubt, but I can't really be surprised given the install base..I mean its already like the 11th best selling game on the PS3.

Don't forget how good their eyesight will be and the amazing facial expressions while they gun us down.
