10. [NDS] New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo) - 18,000 / 4,557,000

NSMB will hit 5,000,000 before the end of this year.

Oh, and it's awesome to see the Japanese warming up to Zelda...

Fair-weather, with pride!
Cool, a 360 game outsold Pokemon. :lol

Interesting numbers and thanks as always cheese.

Folks Soul bomba bomba.

Sony needs a new plan for Japan. Time to bring out the Touch Generation clones.

I guess trusty bell is supply constrained

I don't understand people in Japan, such a colorful game like Folksouls and no one cares, but yet people keep buying NSMB.

Don't people do that around the world

And remember, Zelda is only two days worth of sales, so "second week" numbers will probably be higher than usual because they'll actually contain most of the first week of sales.

wow Trusty Bell no longer in the top 30. Probably already piling up at used shops for half price.

Didn't the PS2 Itadaki games with FF and DQ do better?

TB is probably is the top fifty with around 7000

force push the doodoo rock
So much for Trusty Bell and NGS burnin' up the charts there.

Well, I actually didn't expect for TB to completely fall off though.

Does NSMB still sell for full price, or is it cheaper now?

I would have thought everyone who wanted the game would have bought it by now. Seems people buy it along with the system, and at 150,000ish, that's still only about 1/8th of new owners.

I don't think DS's will go up any more than they have been - I don't think anyone would only buy a DS NOW if they wanted Zelda. The colours might bring in some more customers, but it's still very constrained.

*Apple + F "Trusty Bell"*

...

At least it sold better than Origins.
Even though Origins is the best RPG released last gen and deserved to sell over a million copies

Well, duh. Folk's Soul is a low-key release on a low-selling system with a small install base. New Super Mario Bros. is one of the marquee titles that people buy with the system that has a massive install base and outsells the system FS is on by a 16 to 1 margin every week.

It really doesn't shock if you think about it.

Wii Sports is quietly achieving that long-term sustained success typically reserved for Mario, Pokemon, and Brain Training titles. It's amazing really, and makes me wonder how long Nintendo can go WITHOUT sporting a sequel.

The other interesting thing is that while the 360 definitely has a niche audience in Japan (neogeo in the US?), that audience will definitely take a ride on some titles that might typically be out of their comfort zone. Cool to see.

I predict a good future for the DS from here on out. It's been a shaky last couple of years, but I think Nintendo might have a decent product on their hands.

I was starting to worry a bit about Sony, but they released two very big hits recently that have taken the next gen market by storm.

So the new source rounds to the nearest thousand?

Great sales for Zelda, the fact that just about everyone in Japan has a DS now must have helped. :lol

Nah. They don't have more big hits after Zelda and Pokemon

What does it have after Dragon Quest IX? Read: Nothing. The DS is going to fall to hell.

Amazingly enough, the planets aligned and each title in the top 10 sold precisely a multiple of 1000 units. Hard to believe, I know.

BTW, where'd the regular smile smiley go?

Your Kiss of Death has no power here, old man. Repent for your sins, for they will undo you!

Also, Ouendan 2 at #12. They got it right this time!
