The 'H' stands for hentai.
What???

A straight port of a 3 year old GBA game sold almost everything else? I love Ace Attorney 3, but that is a little weird.

Awesome sales for Ring of Fates, only time will tell if it will have legs.

Wow, really really low Wii Sports sales. We could be looking at an extremely low Wii hardware week. Any indications at all from Japanese GAFers that demand is lessening, or did Nintendo just drastically undership this week?

Don't complain...Anything that'll keep the series going is A-OK with me! :D

4th? That about wraps things up for MP8.

The first 3 games are new releases. For MP8 to still sell 49K is still amazing. I won't be surprised if this reaches beyond 1 million, and become the best selling Marty Party game...

Is it a dating sim? :D
sure looks like it from the website. I have to say that this is one of the best names for a game ever, though. :lol

Anyone have comparisons for PW3 DS and PW2 DS?

IAWW and MNG5 still got the legs.
This is the last of the old PW remakes(1-3). You might be getting confused with Gyakuten Saiban 4.

So you mean the 470,000 sales for the 4th game isn't enough?

In TGS they will likely announce the 5th game that will also do insane sales, the 3rd game sales are just free money thrown into the bank.

PW3 was released for the GBA in 2004, and the DS in 2007.

You're right, they'll probably just use it to fund that Resident Evil PSP game if that petition gets enough signatures! =O

Dang, what happened to DQ Swords? Just dropped like a rock. I kind of figures DQ game + Wii + ???? = Profit.

Hey! I was suppose to come in and say w00t @ FF:CC! It's suppose to be #1!!!! >_<

Not bad.

FF:CC did well and I expect it to beat the GC game, although I don't think it'll crack a million.

Sengoku Musou 2: Moushouden sales are expected, I don't see it having legs though.

PW3 was released for the GBA in 2004, and the DS in 2007.
I think Gyakuten Saiban 5 popped up in some financial report a little while back. Though, I guess you mean officially announced.

Squenix didn't have enough supply upfront, now they feel the burn from Japan's uber-deadly used market.

SO surprised at PW3 being released. I thought there was a thread floating around here that it was out and no one was playing it. A nice debut for a remake. I would have thought FFCCRF would have done better. And Zelda is down! Another interesting week. As echoed already Wii Sports is really low this week. What's up with that?

I presume it's the second hand copies that should be widely available now.

It's almost expected because if Capcom's release schedule is any indication Japan gets GS5 one year after GS4 and GS6 3 years after GS4.

Which means Expect a 2008 release for GS5, but a 2010 release for GS6.

:(

Maybe because most of the NA fans are smart enough to wait for the USA release to make sure it gets the sales it deserves for the North American market?

The sad stuff:

.- FF:CC wasn't anywhere near the 250k number from famitsu. 500K is not very feasible anymore. It all depends on the legs of course but.

.- Dragon quest swords is nearly gone. I wished it had performed like Final Fantasy III DS so that SE would feel more confident bringing content to the wii.

.- No substantial wii games on the top 30. Besides sports, play and MP8, japanese doesn't seem to care about anything at all, 1st and 3rd party alike.

.- Minna no Golf 5 slowing down faster than Mario Party 8 is a sign of things to come. In this case, I don't care for either game but next year when Mario party 9 mops the floor with Resident Evil 5 it will piss me off.

The Happy stuff:

.- DK: JC must have exceeded Nintendo's expectations. It's nice to see odd games perform well.

.- The kind of legs of DS games must be a first in Japanese history... it's scary.

.- Zelda: Holding on strongly. I hope it stops RIGHT THERE and doesn't go anymore below in the chart.

DQ games rarely have legs, though. :/ used copies + front-loaded sales = no legs.

You expected the game to sell 1 million, when the user base for the Wii is only like 3.3 million? It is Dragon Quest, but it is still a fairly low budget game. It would have done better if they had more supply in the first place though.

I am sure Square-Enix is already happy with the result. They certainly made a bucket load of cash out of it
, maybe to fund Final Fantasy 13 :(

I was really, really sure the Famitsu number was 206k. 500k is more than possible, it is a DS game, but it depends on how good it is, and how plentiful stock is. S-E's got to learn to stop dropping the ball on stock, as DQ: Swords shows.

Famitsu had the Wii at 50k this week.

Yeah I know, and I'm expecting it to be somewhere along those lines. Wonder if Nintendo did really divert some units to N.A for Metroid.

Yeah SE just seems to really drop the ball both ways; DQ Swords, DQM Joker, FF3 all understocked, FFXII-i, Heroes, IAWW, and others overstocked.

Pretty pathetic when you think about the size of SE in Japan and the fact they've been operating there for two and a half decades. It's really surprising they haven't been more attuned to what they need to be producing.

If it can just have staying power for a couple of weeks, I think it will make them happy. RoF was their second try and they've pretty much put CB to the side to get hype for it, i hope it pays off.

Maybe it's the consumer telling Square Enix to stop making stupid ports and spin-offs of their two biggest franchises and invest in new IPs?

Just saying...

All the understocked games you listed did exceedingly well when it was all said and done. Why do people bitch about things like this anyways.

as far as I can tell, a game's LTD is proportional to the game's 1st week numbers.

more or less

1st week -> LTD ( at end of game's selling life )

50k -> 80k-110k
250k -> 400k-500k
500k -> 700k-1mil

and so on.

I know, some DS games are notable exceptions but I don't have much hope for FF:CC as it is a spin-off of an old,hardcore exhausted franchise

They could have easily done better though. Especially DQ: Swords. DQ drops like a rock at the best of times, and S-E *knew* the game was short which would give it a quick turnaround on the used market. They should have shipped twice what they did. If they had, they'd probably have sold a few hundred thousand copies more.
