FY2010 Sales Plan for Major Titles
Code:

| Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Fate of Two Worlds | PS3,360 | WW | 2,000,000 |
Capcom has been misfiring on a lot of big projects lately.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but wasn't Lost Planet originally projected to sell 3.7 million? It's already down to 2.2M - already sliced almost in half.

Dark Void was originally projected for 2M, then it was cut to 1.3M, then cut again to 600k.

And Bionic Commando was originally slated for 1.5M iirc, and it finally ended up at 700k, with a large chunk of that 700k being heavily discounted no doubt just to help retailers clear their inventory.

Edit - And the DS numbers still baffle me. Capcom has found big sellers on the 360, PS3, Wii, and PSP. But somehow, they never found success on what may very well turn out to be the biggest platform ever. They found some moderate success with Phoenix Wright and Mega Man, but it's just bizarre how they just never found their footing on the DS throughout the entire generation.

Wat, when did Capcom release 10 new PS2 and 20 new PSP games?

Good question. Maybe they are counting re-releases on PSN? (Including PS1 titles?)

That wouldn't explain the PS2 titles.

Budget re-releases, maybe?

Because looking at the Gamefaqs list, they had 4 new PSP titles in 2009, and their last PS2 titles were in 2008 (there was one RE double pack released in 2009)

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so I'm just going to throw it out there: Do any of you think Japan will soon see a Wii price cut now that NA is basically getting one (with the new black and white bundles, which will retail for $199)? Or, will Japan finally get a Wii + Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort + Wii Motion+ bundle?

I find that unlikely - they're more likely to reduce the retail price or have a NSMB Wii bundle.

Having said that, I wish they would put an enhanced tennis, baseball and boxing game on WSR in the West. The original Wii Sports is now obsolete surely?

Capcom hates the best version of Monster Hunter 2G.

2008/3 Monster Hunter Freedom 2 G PSP 3,000 (worldwide sales of the original game)

And we know Capcom has shipped >4M in Japan.
It is weird. You'd think they'd want to boast sales.

Looking at the full fiscal year shipments:
Code:
2007 - 990,000
2008 - 2,200,000
2009 - 1,350,000
-----------------
Total- 4,540,000

Japan- 4,090,000*
NA/EU- 450,000

White Knight 2 Release Date Coming This Week
Big update on highly anticipated sequel coming in this week's Famitsu.
I guess given the current time and possible choices, they will go for a (just before) Obon release in August? Or maybe July last week.

I'm the first to bash Level-5 when deserved but I'm honestly surprised on their WKC2 schedule given how many times WKC got delayed, then having to continue working on the game after its release and the international version.
Hell, we will have WKC2 release date in a few days and Ninokuni just got another vague 'give us another 6 months'.

Did they lower that Lost Planet 2 forecast ? I remember it being +3mil.

As for MvC3 I can definitely see it outselling SF4 easily with the right marketing push.

Are those Capcom sales figures shipped or sold?

Because with a estimated 800k sales for RE tDSC, that 600k figure isn't bad, especialy looking at the hate the title received.

Why did Wii net the highest sales for Capcom?
What was on it that I missed? Monster Hunter Tri and Darkside Chronicles only did 1.75 million together.

Apparently the games on other systems did even worse.

Famitsu Game Hakusho 2010 will also have a Top 1000 software ranking for 2009.
Expected move after Media Create gave top 1000 this year? Now all we need is one tracker to give us top 2000 next year and the other will follow. Even with top 1000 there were many new games missing (super low sellers obviously).

Re 4 Wii Edition + 100k, I guess those Resi ports did something. And maybe, just maybe Dead Rising CTYD sold a few copies :lol

Early blog figures which are usually close to final Enterbrain figures.

5/3~5/9
[NDS] Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 (Square Enix) - 214k/896k
[PSP] Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (Konami) - 139k/585k
[PS3] Super Street Fighter IV (Capcom) - 14k/94k
[PS3] NieR Replicant (Square Enix) - 10k/99k
Thanks (I was just seeing them haha).

Those would be, in order, a 2nd week, compared to the previous entry:

DQMJ2 -- slightly worse (DQMJ - 248k);
MGSPW -- waaay better (MGS4 - 67k);
SSF4 -- slightly worse (SF4 - 18k);

- DQMJ2 continues to surprise me. I thought it was going to underperform compared to the first game

- MGS:pW has the biggest second week for a MGS game (I think, unless MGS had a bigger one) and it's tracking ahead of MGS4 and MGS2. And that's without counting downloadable sales.

After two weeks:

MGS2 - 544k
MGS3 - 610k
MGS4 - 543k
MGS:pW - 585k

In the end, Konami was crazy shipping ~800k copies in the first week. This is not a numbered MGS game and the MH content in the game isn't that significative (3 old bosses from an old game are not going to make MH fans want a MGS game).
I guess PW will be the next MHTri/Zelda: ST and soon we'll hear reports about major discounts.

EDIT

I see the first shipment was 764k. That doesn't look that bad now.

So I was looking at this chart from Nintendo and started to notice something.

2w4b5hz.jpg

While the number of people who are non-users has gone way down, the number of users who are sleep users seems to barely change.

I was curious, do people think this is because Nintendo is having a much easier time getting people in Japan who have never played games to try them, or that they are losing people who they got into gaming at about the same rate they are bringing back sleep users?

First shipment of Joker 2 is almost gone. It shouldn't have the same problem but with Nintendo and S-E you can never be sure.

Metal Gear Solid 4 also had reports for major discounts. Media Create has its LTD (before the budget re-release) almost the same with the estimated first shipment (+25k additional shipment).
Things will look bad for Peace Walker if it follows the rule which says that there is sharp drop for sales after Golden Week. It's possible we have another FFXIII case here.
Big second week compared to previous FF, because of holidays, with big decline following.

Why YuGiOh5ds never gives NSMBW numbers? This is Golden Week after all. Super Mario Bros. 3 is at 3,84M.
If NSMBW had the standard Nintendo holiday rise maybe it has already passed it, if not this will happen next week for sure.

Peace Walker will continue to sell well. Mark my words. Word of mouth is extremely strong, multiplayer interest in the game is very high in Japan, and it's definitely catching on. The replayability will help the game a lot. Expect it to be at about 800k or over by the time it's released in the US.

Yeah, the PW numbers are pretty good.

It is at 590k or so, next week around 50k - 70k. Next week around 30k - 50k. That gets it to about 700k, and it will have pretty decent legs due to word of mouth.

Hmm, I've been away from MC threads for a year or so, but it's amazing how little has changed.

I just don't understand why Nintendo is dragging their feet in Japan.

Looks like Peace Walker will end up in the Square Enix PSP "not quite a million" area. :lol

I think that's a great number, but you have to wonder how much the actual merits of the gameplay factored into the sales. The hype machine was well-played, but it also showed that Konami had little confidence the game could sell like MGS5 is supposed to especially in the West. But that's all irrelevant in the face of actual sales discussion.

So uh why hasn't Namco released Ace Combat game for the PS3? Or ported that 360 game like they did with Tales of Vesperia. Doesn't Ace series sale well worldwide including in Japan?

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
You know you got a problem if Tekken 6 is your best-selling title for the last fiscal year....

They left off Enslaved and Inversion oddly enough.

Did those get delayed until 2011?

I mean, as dodgy as they both look, they sure as hell have more potential than Splatterhouse. :lol
