Famitsu Hardware

DSi 59000
PSP 26000
Wii 26000
360 6100
PS2 4400
DSL 4200
PS3 3700

This is the lowest week by Famitsu for PS3, and the early, slightly off Media Create data shows PS3 even lower.

Blood of Bahamut is still hanging on there.
It's probably due to a price collapse, but at the very least, it's gonna sell its first shipment.

I think MH3 hitting 1m is in stone now. Even if it gets there on the back of weeks of 10k's it will certainly hit that point. May be the first of the gen in Japan to do so from a third party on consoles depending on how its hold up, but its doing extremely well.

Wow, just when I was starting to doubt MH3, it actually holds up reasonably.

It's 42K / 835K in Famitsu. The LTD gap is getting smaller.

Edit:
In Famitsu if MH3 and MHP2G (BEST) both stayed at their current weekly levels, both would cross 1 million in four weeks. MH3 should go down, though, so MHP2G (BEST) should get to 1 million first.

Monster Hunter 3 is holding up reasonably well, the holiday sales rush will put it in non game status, Media Create last week of October, the day it hit 1M

I kinda look at MH3 as blazing a trail through a treacherous forest (the Wii third party market in Japan), paving a road through the middle of it. Maybe other games will have an easier time walking that road. Should establish a decent sized Monster Hunter audience on Nintendo consoles too so future Monster Hunter games can follow.

The problem for both Nintendo and Sony is I think the console market in general in Japan is doomed.

Wii Sports Resort is actually the one letting down the Wii IMO. It's selling fine, but it needs to be pushing more hardware like Wii Fit and the first Wii Sports did. New Super Mario Bros. Wii needs to bring it.

Wii Sports and Wii Fit never stayed at number one or two for weeks on end. They always hovered in the top ten or twenty. Legs man. Legs.

Difference is I don't think WSR is moving hardware like those other two games did, in Japan anyway.

The release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, will be the acid test of PS3 Slim against Wii. I'd love to see NSMBW take Final Fantasy XIII and Gran Turismo 5 head on. See who gets to a non game status first. Your pick GAF ?

Damn !!! NSMB just wont die ...

Anyone have the numbers to show how DQIX is holding up against it's predecessors? I still think it'll end up as the best selling DQ yet due to it's weekly updates and one save per cartridge.

I think DQIX and MH3 are hitting traction points, a lot of the people buying now are likely getting it based on word-of-mouth from other players, which is a good sign.

Tomadochi is a monster. It will join the 2 million club at least.

Of course it's not, it's a sequel.

I don't think NSMB or Wii Fit plus are going to help the hardware either. It's a handheld world in Japan.

Barely any stock of new PS3 phats in stores and slim coming on 9/3. Not surprising at all.
Source? This is the first time I hear of massive shortages of PS3 in Japan.

I dunno what the scale of it is, but there've apparently been no new ps3 shipments in Japan since early August, and some places at least have sold out:

http://www.pushsquare.com/5654/traditional-playstation-3-stock-continues-to-dry-up-around-japan/

Moreover, there was no official price cut on old stock in Japan, so if you do find an older PS3 in stock you might be asked to pay 10,000 yen more for it than you will for a Slim on Sep 3.

I doubt, that Japanese who want to buy a PS3 now can't do so, but I absolutely agree they sure as hell won't want to, when a cheaper and smaller alternative is on the horizon.

The Slim's not out yet? I was at Best Buy yesterday and I swear to god I saw it on a display table with a bunch of shit attached (that raised the price beyond $400). I tried picking it up and it was heavy, too. It didn't feel like an empty display box.

is this

Monster Hunter Portable 2 G (BEST) (Capcom) - 18,000 / 907,000 (-33%)

going to be the first BEST-release that broke a million? or did any other rerelease achieve this goal?

Good MH3 sales still, maybe there's hope for non-handhelds yet :D

The lack of price drop on the PS3 fats is really puzzling, because as far as I'm aware there's still quite a lot of stock on shelves. What possible reason could Sony have for that? Are they going to write them off as a tax-break or something?

All credit for this fantastic overview goes to our very own Sales-Age Genius Chris1964. Week 7 for DQIX isn't considered here yet, because we don't have the respective Famitsu data (or at least I don't see it), but going by the MC numbers it'll be comfortably ahead of both DQVII's and DQVIII's respective 7th week.

It'll easily become the best selling DQ. No doubt about it.

Gonna be funny seeing one week is the PS3's lowest, when the next week will be PS3's biggest. Week after next we get the slim bump yeh?
