i wanted to post this for a while now but 360 is doing well in Japan these days. Next gen will probably be pretty decently popular by then.

Are you serious?

Why do I have the impression Tales of Graces F won't reach PS3 Vesperia numbers.
Well, Tales of Graces doesn't have an anime...

Next Xbox may have a GameCube level of sales. It would be pretty decent for Microsoft.
...

Xbox720 will have the success of GameCube only if Nintendo and Sony don't release Wii 2 and PS4.

Haven't seen this in stores, but it's only a matter of time.

The last notable game to hit the bomba bin was Peace Walker, by the way.

That must be the reason the game is still hanging in the Top 50 months after its release. Maybe it'll have a small second shipment.

Is DQMJ2 also in the bomba bins? I've seen it heavily discounted at amazon in the last few days.

Are Japanese so excited for Pokemon Black / White as comgnet makes it look?
It's coming out in 5 weeks and by the end of this week it will already have more preorders than every previous Pokemon with preorders increasing rapidly every day.

If we use previous Pokemon preorders as a base it should have an opening week (2 days) of ~3M. Obviously this won't happen but >2M is definetely a lock. I think first week numbers will depend more on what Nintendo will decide to ship.

Every single time I've been to a game store in the last 2 weeks, I've always seen an eager child and his/her parent go forward to reserve the game. They bring the slip to the counter or request for it.

I am 90% certain Pokemon Black and White will have the biggest debut of the series thus far. I don't see why it can't be bigger than Diamond and Pearl. Even supply-constrained HeartGold/SoulSilver came close. 2 Million? If Nintendo ships that many, then there's a good chance, although an exactly 2 Million shipment will result in a lower figure for the trackers.

Let's see if the DS can set one more record by having the biggest game debut of all time. It's sold the most hardware, I believe it has the most million sellers, and the highest selling single SKU for both first and third parties (aside from the original SMB). One more before the 3DS hits.

It's genius. Have a ridiculously popular video game series with tonnes of niggling (and not so niggling) flaws that they keep sticking with, generation after generation.

And then, BAM! That's fixed, this is fixed, that's fixed too, and did we mention it's in an all new region? And we have tonnes of new stuff?

BW is going to clean house.

Biggest first week for a Pokemon game is a a sure bet.

27/02/96 [NGB] Pokemon Red / Green / Blue (Nintendo) - 140.074 / 7.783.101
21/11/99 [NGB] Pokemon Gold / Silver (Nintendo) - 1.425.768 / 6.089.503
21/11/02 [GBA] Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire (Pokemon Co.) - 1.245.003 / 5.337.045
29/01/04 [GBA] Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green (Pokemon Co.) - 955.337 / 3.054.165
28/09/06 [NDS] Pokemon Diamond / Pearl (Pokemon Co.) - 1.586.360 / 5.767.283
12/09/09 [NDS] Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (Pokemon Co.) - 1.408.980 / 3.832.980

Biggest first week ever would demand a very big first shipment from Nintendo.

11/02/99 [PS1] Final Fantasy VIII (Square) - 2.504.044 / 3.501.588
11/07/09 [NDS] Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (Square Enix) - 2.343.440 / 4.152.985
27/11/04 [PS2] Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Square Enix) - 2.236.881 / 3.555.469
31/01/97 [PS1] Final Fantasy VII (Square) - 2.034.879 / 3.277.776
07/07/00 [PS1] Final Fantasy IX (Square) - 1.954.421 / 2.707.301

Every Pokemon debut is supply-constrained.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Just looked at YSO and they have these games listed as the expected next million sellers.

[WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo)
[NDS] Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge!! Spark / Bomber (Level 5)
[WII] Wii Party (Nintendo)
[NDS] Pokemon Black / White (Pokemon Co.)
[PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (Capcom)
[3DS] Mario Kart (Nintendo)
[3DS] Animal Crossing (Nintendo)
[3DS] Nintendogs + Cats (Nintendo)

The last 3 3DS games must best be those they predict to be Nintendo's 3DS launch (close to launch) titles.

Pokemon games sell at least 5M, why are they so afraid to ship say 3M on launch day/week? Is it up to to the retailers, I thought it was a two way street where Nintendo gets a say in it too.

I don't think retailers Nintendo would a have a problem if Nintendo wanted to ship 3 million. HG/SS was in limited supply for many weeks, this is situation no one wants. But there isn't an excuse for Nintendo not to ship many copies as there isn't a pokewalker this time. There will be a big first shipment, how big we will see.

Ah the pokewalker, I forgot bout that. Yeah it looks like it'll easily be Pokemon's biggest shipment, but I don't think they'll ship enough to be the biggest debut of all time. Only a few more weeks to go.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were released at a time when the DS was surging all over the world and games were supply constrained as a result. It came out shortly after other DS games like New Super Mario Bros. and Final Fantasy III and before other big hits from the 2006 holiday season. This was around the time Europe was experiencing those plastic shortages, if I remember correctly. This is why DP didn't have the debut it was certainly capable of.

Black and White are much more ambitious games than DP. BW makes DP look like mere extensions of the GBA games that came before them. BW is also being released at a time when the DS has already passed its prime, and apparently will have no bundled accessories to inflate its packaging. Nintendo will have little excuse not to have an exceptionally large and healthy shipment for BW.

Now, this is no guarantee BW will outsell DP, although the chances are good, particularly if Platinum's high sales compared to Yellow/Crystal/Emerald were a result of lost sales for DP, thus BW drawing from all three games.

Nintendo can always find an excuse. Printing cards for 3DS.
Red color case for NSMBW
